Met an Australian at the car show yesterday. He was happy to see his homeland cars at the show as Pontiac G8's and Chevy Caprice PPV. Said he loved the Holden commodore he had before he moved to Ohio and wished he could've brought it with him. But he found and bought a 2004 Pontiac GTO which is a Holden Monaro.

Looks like my family's reunion isn't going to happen this year. My one aunt is refusing to go if the other aunt is there and she got her kids to refuse to go as well. I told the wife who was helping plan the reunion might as well just cancel it, no sense in renting a hall for just 30 people. Would have been 50+. This petty BS just reminds me why I like animals more than people lol.

I'm just back from a couple of days in Connemara - a scenic region in Co. Galway on the Atlantic west coast of Ireland. I went as part of a group, and we all had a very enjoyable trip despite the miserable weather yesterday. The area is part of a Gaeltacht - a region where Irish is the first language, and very few of the road signs are in English, although everyone speaks English. Last night several of us went for a drink at the nearby Hooker Bar, but don't worry, the pub is over 200 years old and is named after the Galway hooker - a traditional fishing boat used in Galway Bay. :)

Did you run into any Celtic Women singing Tir Na Nog? I love that song.

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out.

Just to keep you happy, Roger:

* Well hopefully I'll be back home at this time tomorrow, if the doctor decides to let me go. If not.....it will be sometime Wednesday!  .....hopefully! So if you don't see me on here for a while you'll know where I'm at! Healing up/sleeping it off/drugged up etc.! :)

I've just spent the evening at a bar (very unusual for me) listening to a couple of local guys playing live music on acoustic guitars. It was a good mix of traditional Irish songs and old favorites. What surprised me was the number of Americans at the bar. The first people I spoke to were from just across the Indiana border from Chicago, but there were three groups from California (Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles), one from Seattle and another from Florida. I know where I live is a popular tourist destination, but I rarely get to speak to the visitors.
