RogerDuke
My son-in-law is a big NASCAR fan so my daughter came over today for Father's Day and we watched some of the race. I always enjoy it when I'm with someone who knows the answers to my questions. It sure was interesting to see a race in Nashville.....I bet the locals were loving that. Jeff Gordon might be leaving the broadcast booth for a bigger role at Hendrick Motorsports. Jeff Gordon is leaving the broadcast booth to become Vice Chairman/2nd in command at Hendrick Motorsports https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/06/23/jeff-gordon-named-hendrick-motorsports-vice-chairman/ he will do the rest of his Fox contract duties till the end of the year. Wonder who they will get to replace him. Dale Earnhardt Jr is locked into a multi year deal with NBC and to be honest he's really not good at calling the races. Chase Elliot's 13th place finish at Nashville has been disqualified, for of all things , 5 loose/missing lugnuts. Chase vented his frustrations on Twitter with a pretty good observation that if the wheel would have come off and he wrecked he would have been able to keep his points. I can understand DQ'ing because of skirting the rules on the car but for too many loose lugnuts is absolutely absurd. Just when I think Nascar Officials have done the most ridiculous thing they do something else even more crazy. RogerDuke

Hobie Hartkins
Hey, you guys be getting ready! The annual Moonshine 400 is coming up August 31 and I think Enos might be in it this year! I know I will, because ANY thing with the word Moonshine in it , has GOT to be good stuff! ( LOL!) There's also a rumor ( though not confirmed!) , that Cooter will be there too! I think Rosco is going to try something sneaky and underhanded though....so.....be watching for it! RogerDuke
RogerDuke
The Moonshine 500 is always my second favorite race of the year. Nothing beats the Buttermilk 5.00 where you chug a quart of buttermilk and try to run around the barn 5 times. Nobody has ever made it 5 times around without losing their buttermilk so we always give the trophy to the person who made it farthest. The trophy is a gallon of buttermilk in a moonshine jug signed by Hazzard's biggest buttermilk drinker, Enos Strate. LOL Hobie's white lightning has a bit of a (hiccup) kick lol took me a day to recover. This past weekend was the Pocono doubleheader. Saturday's race the Hendrick brigade dominated. It looked like Kyle Larson was going to win his 5the consecutive race until his left front tire blew going into turn 3 on the last lap which gave Alex Bowman his 3rd win this season and Hendrick Motorsports 6 consecutive wins and 9 wins total so far this season. Top 10 1 Alex Bowman 2 Kyle Busch 3 William Byron 4 Denny Hamlin 5 Ryan Blaney 6 Kurt Busch 7 Joey Logano 8 Kevin Harvick 9 Kyle Larson 10 Brad Keselowski Race 2 ended up being a fuel mileage race. Kyle Busch had transmission issues that left him with only 4th gear which turned out to be a good thing for fuel mileage since he didn't down shift in the turns. His car handled superbly which allowed him to run almost as fast as the leaders who ran out of fuel. Top 10 1 Kyle Busch 2 Kyle Larson 3 Brad Keselowski 4 Kevin Harvick 5 Bubba Wallace 6 Ryan Blaney 7 Alex Bowman 8 Ryan Preece 9 Tyler Reddick 10 Joey Logano This weekend Nascar heads to Road America with Xfinity and Cup and some Cup drivers will also run in the Trans Am race there this weekend as well. Spike
Nascar Cup series returned to Road America for the first time since 1956. Chase Elliot won holding off hard charging Gibbs teammates, giving Hendrick Motorsports it's 10th win of the season. I still think they should have kept Daytona on the July 4th weekend. Top 10 1 Chase Elliot 2 Christopher Bell 3 Kyle Busch 4 Kurt Busch 5 Denny Hamlin 6 Chase Briscoe 7 Ross Chastain 8 Tyler Reddick 9 Martin Truex jr 10 Matt Dibenedetto Kurt Busch already had talks with Trackhouse Racing so he's rumored to be the top candidate to drive the 2nd car when they take over Ganassi's Nascar teams at the end of the season. Spike
In the final Atlanta race at the track's current configuration Kurt Busch with help from his teammate Ross Chastain edged out his younger brother Kyle Busch for the win. In typical Kryle fashion in his post race interview he whined about losing instead of congratulating his brother. They must have had one helluva contentious relationship growing up. Early on it looked like it was going to be a JGR stomping with all four JGR Toyota's looking strongest in the field. Probably would have been Martin Truex jr's day if not for failing pre race inspection twice and being forced to start last. He arguably passed the most cars having to drive through the field a few times due to bad pit stops. Top 10 1 Kurt Busch 2 Kyle Busch 3 Martin Truex jr 4 Alex Bowman 5 Ryan Blaney 6 Tyler Reddick 7 Chase Elliot 8 Christopher Bell 9 Matt Dibenedetto 10 Brad Keselowski Kyle Busch won his 5th and final Xfinity race at Atlanta this season. Hopefully he'll stick to his word and retire from the series since he's won over 100 Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity races as he promised. He's the reason Nascar limits how many starts Cup series driver's can make in the lower tier series. Instead of limiting cup series driver's they should make them run in struggling team's car's to give them some help against the juggernaut teams like JGR or Jr motorsports. The next time you see Atlanta motor speedway on tv it will look different. Instead of just repaving the track they are going to redo the banking as well https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/07/06/atlanta-motor-speedway-repave-reprofiling-2022-nascar-cup-series/. Spike
JR Motorsports apparently Is still interested in running in the Cup series https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/07/13/dale-jr-kelley-earnhardt-miller-motorsports-continuing-conversations-on-possible-cup-effort/ there's a rumor that Dale Jr and his sister Kelley will buy into Richard Childress Racing either partially or outright takeover. Another rumor is Kevin Harvick is interested in buying JTG's portion of JTG Daugherty Racing team. I don't know if this one holds much water, he ran a Trucks and Xfinity teams and folded them because it was too much to handle while also driving and raising a family. Spike
Aric Almirola won the shortened Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. Nascar execs at the track decided to start the race even though it started raining in turns 1 & 2, by the 8th lap it got so bad that the Joe Gibbs drivers spun out with race leader Kyle Busch getting the most damage, he subsequently took his frustrations out on the pace car before retiring to the garage. Nascar execs made another great call before restarting the race by penalizing Joey Logano 2 laps after he reported to his crew that his throttle was stuck and a crewman reached under the hood to see what the problem was and removed the obstruction from the linkage to the throttle body, you'd think that being a safety issue that he wouldn't have been penalized. Penske Racing dominated after the rain delay restart with Ryan Blaney winning the first stage and Brad Keselowski winning the 2nd stage. Aric Almirola's car came in on the long runs in the last stage. Top 10 1. Aric Almirola 2. Christopher Bell 3. Brad Keselowski 4. Joey Logano 5. Ryan Blaney 6. Kevin Harvick 7. Kyle Larson 8. Spike
Official: Brad Keselowski buys minority stake in Roush Fenway Racing and will also drive the #6 https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/07/20/brad-keselowski-jack-roush-roush-announcement/. This of course leaves Ryan Newman without a ride for 2022 though RFR has offered him a part time ride if he's interested. The New Hampshire race was one of the least watched of the season so far with only 2.1 million viewers tuning in https://www.jayski.com/2021/07/20/new-hampshire-tv-ratings-3/. Rumor mill: Richard Petty Motorsports is mulling selling one or both of it's charters. RWR is leasing one for the #51 this season. If RPM sells both of it's charters the #43 team will most likely fold and sell off the assets. RogerDuke
Spike
Word out of Detroit is the next Camaro will be a 4 door electric sedan possible crossover like Ford did with the Mustang. Rumors say the last year for the current Camaro is 2023. With Malibu production ending in 2022 this will leave Chevy without a ICE car in 2024 to use for Nascar unless Nascar changes it's rules.
