I would've thought that anyone who had it taped would avoid a thread called "NASCAR News" until they'd watched it. I don't have the pay channel that shows F1 races live, so I watch the highlights a few hours later and make sure that I don't listen to the news or look at any sports websites until I know the result.

Well y'all beat me to it. I missed it as I was at work and then had my Zoom meeting after work. I am glad for the updates from y'all. I don't have access to record it. Sadly Chase didn't do it and Jimmie Johnson finished at the rear...but it was great to see the 24 car back in Victory Lane! I miss Jeff Gordon in the 24 car...always will. But Bryon is doing a great job keeping the 24 car up front.

He retired a few years ago. He was a commentator on FOX for awhile before taking a bigger role at Hendrick Motorsports. Once Rick Hendrick retires and steps away, Jeff Gordon will take over Hendrick Motorsports.

I saw Gordon a while back on you Tube and he was disguised with a hat, moustache etc. and test drove a car with the salesman inside.  Gordon was driving wild and the salesman , not knowing it was him, was yelling, " Stop this car, let me out of here! You're going to pay for this car!" Then when they got back to the dealership he jumped out and everybody was laughing and then he saw Gordon peel off his moustache and he saw who it was! LOL! :)

Definitely a classic commercial!

That car is actually a Holden Caprice, long wheel base version of the Commodore/G8. GM imported them as Chevy Caprice's for police departments from 2011-17. Police departments could order 9C1 or 9C3 packages, 9C3 was the detective package with cloth or leather seats instead of plastic rear seat. They came with either the 3.6L V6 or 6.0L V8. The V8 Caprice was the only vehicle to pass all the CHP speed and handling testing. So if you ever find a 9C3 spec Caprice at a police auto auction buy it.

That commercial never gets old! He did another commercial like that to a guy who was criticizing him and that commercial and how real or fake it was. It was just as great. (You'll have to watch it on youtube by clicking on watch on youtube, I guess. LOL)

Just a reminder that Garrett started a commercials thread back in 2010 (it's been quiet for a while). I only had a quick look at the first page, and there are a few videos missing, but you'd expect that after 13 and a half years. You can find it here.

Thank you for the reminder, Hoss. I totally forgot about that. :)

Back to NASCAR...we are racing at Chase Elliott's home track in Atlanta. Hopefully that'll bring him the luck he needs to find his way back to Victory Lane. I remember years ago when John Schneider gave the opening command there or sang the National Anthem or both. It's been awhile, but I was excited when it was him. This year's race will be Sunday at 3 ET on FOX.

Also a couple of cars from Stewart - Haas Racing had parts taken for further inspection. Any penalties that may come from that will be handed out later. Here is the article. Parts confiscated from Stewart-Haas Racing's Nos. 10, 41 cars | NASCAR

Well race number two of the season and race number two of the season that I missed. :( Sorry to disappoint y'all. :( But it looks like a rough race for Chase Elliott, so maybe it was for the best. Starting at lap number three when Martin Truex Jr who hit Austin Dillon who collected several drivers including Chase Elliott. Of what it looks like, every time he raced towards the top ten, he'd get hit again. Sounds like an exciting race. Daniel Suerez won the Atlanta race.

I'm including a link with the final results. Hopefully it shares the play by play as well on the side of the screen. I am sorry it's not very descriptive post about the race.
