DixieDavenport
Does anyone have or know where to find the lyrics for the first reunion theme 'Carryin' on like we did before'???Thanks DixieDavenport
Guest DanielPHorse
Dixie, it goes a little something like this: Carrying on like we did before! Ten in the tank, for on the floor. V8's screamin we're back for more, carryin on like we did before. Didn't we raise us a ruckus? Didn't we kick up our heels? Sheriff Rosco cussed us; Said we were hell on wheels! Didn't we burn up the backroads, Didn't we have us some fun? Hey I got a great idea, (what?) What do you say we make one more run?? Carryin' on like did before, Ten in the tank, four on the floor. V8's screamin we're back for more! Carryin on like we did before!
DixieDavenport
Thanks! I'll be posting a story on Fan fiction .com about Duke Fest 2006 and how it came to be -- I'll eventually get around to posting it here I hope also! Thanks again!Dixie D
Guest DanielPHorse
No problem Dixie! LOL the weird thing is that I yanked it out of my head, even though I haven't watched the actual movie in like three years. I've always loved the song, though, so the lyrics have stayed with me! DixieDavenport
Thanks for the good memory! I have the song but would have had to replay it a million time to have written it. DixieD

I know almost all the lyrics to all the songs on the Dukes TV Soundtrack, with the exception of those referred to in my first post! But know them now! Mostly. I sing them all the time... Guest DanielPHorse
I think my favorite song on that whole album is "The General Lee," sung by Johnny Cash. He just injects so much of the car's personality into the tone of the song, and it's the perfect "voice" for our favorite Charger! Even better, my kids, 3 and 5, are starting to like the Dukes now, too!
boiscute2007
That's cute that they're actin' like Dukes. The Johnny Cash one is great,(the best voice) but personally I like both Jihn one's.

BoJamesDuke
Just a note, about Carryin on Like We Did Before. Its actually Ten in the Tank, FOOT on the floor. Nothing else makes sense an' you gotta listen real close to hear it because of John and Tom's accents mixed together. But put that in and the chorus makes much more sense lol
RogerDuke
Welcome to Hazzard County s2n.I'm going to get out my 1981 Dukes soundtrack and check this out. Three things stood out to me. One was St Tropez tan. You might be right about that.I think you're wrong about two on Boss's song. It should be "bleed right through the nose" not "pee right through the nose". I got to admit though, your version is funnier. ROFL Of course the song itself is contradictory because Boss has said that he "don't cotton to no violence" Also on Boss's song, I think it's "ornery as a Georgia mule" not "hungry" as one but I'm not positive. We sure hope you stay here a long time. You sure sound like you belong here.
DaisyMaeDuke
well...I actually think you'ree both wrong...LOL I think it's: He's stubborn as a Georgia Muleand I know it isn't pee or bleed...it's : You'll pay write through the nose!!! Duke_It!
Just a note, about Carryin on Like We Did Before. Its actually Ten in the Tank, FOOT on the floor. Nothing else makes sense an' you gotta listen real close to hear it because of John and Tom's accents mixed together. But put that in and the chorus makes much more sense lolMy father once told me that "Ten in the tank" meant a ten gallon tank (obviously) and that "Four on the floor" meant something like four cylinders... or four... something to do with the engine.[Edit: something to do with the gears/gearbox? I can't remember clearly now, it was a while ago.] Edited October 10, 2011 by Duke_It! addition
MaryAnne
It is four on the floor. Refers to the manual transmission (four gears).
HossC
It is four on the floor. Refers to the manual transmission (four gears). As opposed to 'three on the tree', which I don't think I've ever seen over here. From a quick Google search it appears that nearly 85% of cars sold in the US have automatic transmissions. In the UK it's closer to 85% manual (stick) - worth considering if you're visiting and need to hire a car. If you pass your driving test in a manual you can drive an auto, but not vice versa - don't know if it's the same in the US.
SheriffRoscoColtrane
The lyrics to Sorrell Booke's Laughing All The Way To The Bank is: (Boss Hogg) (Big Boss Hogg) Well I'm not too tall and I'm not to lean and they sure don't call me cute. (Boss Hogg) But I pack a roll with a lotta' dough in my snow white three piece suit. (Big Boss Hogg) I'm the man in charge, round' these here parts and whatever I say, goes. Try anything in my neck of the woods, and you'll peer right through the nose. (Big Boss Hogg) (He's as hungry as a Georgia mule) Mmmmhmmm (Chases money like a love sick fool) Yeah that's right (He's as charmin' as an army tank) Well now wait a minute! Till' I own every piece of land and every moonshine whisky still. Hehehehehehehehehe- (Big Boss Hogg) (He's as hungry as a Georgia mule) Yeah that's right!
