July 2, 20251 yr And then something went wrong with Roger's truck. The nitrous oxide system failed. Little did Roger know that the tank sprung a leak. That would explain why he had been laughing hysterically the whole race. But the good news is that the front wheels returned to the ground and Roger regained control of the steering. The bad news is that Garrett started pulling ahead. At this point it looked like Roger might finish third. But this is Hazzard. The race ain't over.
July 2, 20251 yr Garrett watched Roger slow dramatically down in his rear view mirror with a hint of concern, but seeing him drop to third, assumed and hoped he was ok before looking forward with excitement with nothing but the finish line in view ahead of him.
July 3, 20251 yr Author All of a sudden everybody smells burning alcohol and they know Hobie is on their butt!! I'm now, at this time, indulging in a few AB's ( Adult Beverages) and making my big move!

July 4, 20251 yr Things really going downhill from here. Even Skipper has passed Roger. Looking like a fourth place finish. But wait! In the excitement of the competition Roger forgot about the back up nitrous oxide Cooter installed for moments just like this. He hits the toggle switch to turn the primary system off and hits another switch to turn the secondary system on. Once again g-forces push him back. He passes Skipper and is on the move...back into third place. A quick glance in the mirror shows Emma Tisdale closing in on Skipper. The front wheel of her dirt bike has been off the ground the last several miles. But she is starting to run low on nitrous oxide.
July 5, 20251 yr Author Hobie is now serious after downing 2-3 beers and has his foot down to the floor in the straightaway in his Moonshine Mauler!!

July 5, 20251 yr Garrett can't believe his luck as everything is going smoothly and he takes an eye off the finish line and is surprised at the amount of action that is going on behind him that he is missing.
July 6, 20251 yr Garrett's car sputters a bit but is back to firing on all 8 cylinders in a jiffy. He's still in first. In fact, nobody has passed anybody these past few seconds but Garrett's lead isn't as big as it once was. And now Emma is fighting Jesse for fourth place. She is right behind him ready to make a pass on his truck. She has plenty of practice since she makes a pass on him every time he comes into the post office.
July 6, 20251 yr Here comes Skipper in his truck with trailer hauling his boat. He's catching up fast.
July 6, 20251 yr Garrett gets worried when his car sputters and swears under his breath before he feels the power return to full throttle. Still worried about what that may have been, he tries to push it out of mind as he looks back and is disappointed to see his lead length shorten due to the sputter. Shaking his head, he does the only thing he can do. Look ahead and shove the gas pedal to the floor and a hint of a smile crosses his face to feel the strong power of Spittin' Cobra back full force.
July 7, 20251 yr In the battle for fourth, Emma pulls up right beside Jesse on her dirt bike. His drivers side window is open and they look over at each other, dropping their speed just slightly. Forgetting for a moment that she is in a race, she blows him a kiss. He politely smiles but is not too excited. Then Emma rides a wheelie for about 100 feet, hoping to impress him. He smiles again and then points forward to remind her they are in a race. She nods, looks forward and they both speed up and close in on the SS Minnow. It starts to look like the battle for third is going to be fierce. Jesse looks at the leaders. From his view it looks like Hobie is catching up on Garrett.
July 8, 20251 yr Author Hobie now is overtaking a lot of drivers because he's indulging, by taking in some....er.....vitamin A....lol.....he needs to pay more attention to what he's doing though, because right now, he's worried about Meadow.....he hasn't seen her and doesn't even know if she's on the track! Actually I'd give Meadow Mufn a really good price on a little red buggy if she's come by the lot! Maybe she'll come see me in the winner's Circle ( I'm in the home stretch!)

Jesse looks in the mirror and sees no other racers except Boss's Gray Ghost 2 which is quite a ways back. Then Jesse looks ahead. Hobie has caught up to Garrett. He is now inches from Garrett's back bumper. Unless they crash each other out it looks like nobody else has a chance to win this race. But ya just never know. This is Hazzard after all.

July 8, 20251 yr I'm out of reactions too. But this race is sure heating up. Anything can happen. Who knows, Hoss might even show up with his orange F-1 car with the Union Jack and 01 painted on it.

Well....this IS Hazzard!......right now it's Garrett and Hobie running neck N neck, but Hobie knows Garrett's a better driver because he's into this kind of stuff, whereas Hobie's mainly into Shine! :)
July 9, 20251 yr "Dang it," Garrett hisses to himself in frustration as he sees Hobie catching up while wondering how Hobie managed to catch up as quickly as he did. Shaking his head he thinks momentarily of blocking Hobie, but didn't want to wreck his car in attempt at doing so. Instead he focuses on pushing the gas pedal farther down and to help his car get faster than what he was doing.
July 9, 20251 yr Author Hobie was making his Mauler go faster and faster with the special additive he put inside the engine....PGA !! * Pure Grain Alcohol.......Moon! He learned how to add it to his engine and not just his Mason jar, from watching uncle Jesse! ( Another reference that I don't need to explain to anybody here because we all remember the ep. where Jesse ran his car on shine!
July 10, 20251 yr Seeing how fast Hobie and Uncle Jesse had gotten their vehicles to go fast, Garrett wonders what kind of work they put into their vehicles and why Garrett for once decided to race fair. "This is why NASCAR has all them silly rules," he mutters to himself as he momentarily holds Hobie off in hopes of making it to the finish line first.
July 10, 20251 yr Jesse gets on the CB to Skipper "This ain't looking too good Skipper. If it wasn't me who was going to win this race I was hoping you were going to. But I don't see how we can catch either one of these guys. And to make matters worse it's getting downright dangerous back here. It's starting to look like your boat hitch is starting to come loose. I'd hate to see it come undone....but it would make you faster. But the bad news is (Jesse starts singing) The Minnow would be lost...The Minnow would be lost. And it's getting dangerous on my other side too. Emma keeps staring at me and taking her eyes off the race track. I'm really starting to be sorry I agreed to this. Remind me to tell Hobie next year I'm not doing it."
