Being a fan of both... As much as it pains me and I hate to say it much less even think it... But don't be surprised if the way this crazy world is, it cancels Gilligan's Island reruns for violence cuz of the Skipper always smacking Gilligan's head, stomach or butt with that hat, or for not having black guest stars or blacks in the regular main cast. Or if they cancel The Andy Griffith Show reruns for having no blacks in the guest spots or main cast. Yeah the disclaimer at the start of GI reruns. They can also do that for TAGS too. But that means nothing. If enough people find fault with it to b**** about the show they might take the show off. They could have put the disclaimer with Dukes about the flag but rather then do that they chose to remove the reruns. Sad when the only guaranteed way people can watch TV is on DVD/CD.

Now, don't be frightened. Just move out there. What do you call that right in there?" Enos:"That's a ghost Sheriff." Rosco:"No it ain't. There ain't no such thing as ghosts." Bo Duke:"We got the light!" Cale Yarborough:"Then hang on!" General Lee jumps Boss Hogg's Cadillac, Rosco's patrol car, and the Jethro Bros car. Boss Hogg:"Aaaah!!" Bo Duke:"Yeah-hoo!" Hits Dixie horn. Lands. Bo, Luke, Cale laugh.

(Season 2 Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough) Rosco almost crashes into the Jethro Boys/Bros Simon & Roby's car. Roby Jethro:"Dang Sheriff! I ain't ever seen one yet that could drive a straight line without bein' tied to it." Simon Jethro:"Wanna do me a favor? Shut up."

(Season 2 Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough) At roadblock number 3. General Lee approaches. Boss Hogg:"It's the General! He's headed right for us!" Simon Jethro:"He won't get thru without totalling himself! He'll have to stop!"

Saturday Night Fever

It seems that the actor Parley Baer, who played "Mayor Stoner" on the show was always cast as an antagonist. He was brought on after the untimely death of actor Dick Elliot, who played the bumbling, more benign "Mayor Pike" in earlier episodes. Andy Griffith never wanted a mayor to be cast on the show originally, but the producers talked him into it. It seemed to show in the writing that the sheriff and mayor were always at odds with one another. Some interesting facts about Baer: Early in his career, he was a circus ringmaster. He was also a highly decorated captain in the Army Air Corps during WW2. To children who for many years watched Keebler cookie commercials, he was the voice of "Ernie the Elf!" :-)
