  1. Yes I'm curious myself why you say that. The place has continued to be quite active with posts and RR's. Note quite dead from where I'm standing! LOL
  2. Wow! That's coming along great! I love seeing restoration in progress photos.

One more Allman Bros. song....Jessica Jamie's Cryin' - Van Halen Dallas - Allan Jackson
  4. What am I? Chopped grits? I have posted in this thread a few times already. Would y'all rather Brian and Mufn chime on this one? I can bring it to their attention. I have no problem with that. Apparently my handling of this situation hasn't been well received. Sorry, I refuse to resort to having to police this place to the extreme. However, I have not been doing nothing. I've been watching you guys discuss and debate this. I think I was a tad erroneous in my observation about respect tho'. I've been greatly disappointed by some of the responses here. Therefore, I'm going to do something. I'm locking this thread.
  5. Okay y'all, I think folks have spoken and spoken...and spoken on this topic. And I have the feeling things are just going to keep going to the point where y'all are just kicking dirt on each other's shoes. Some of that's already started. We can discuss this until Judgement Day and there's no way everyone is gonna be happy with the results. Let it go folks. Let's move on!
  6. Occasionally I have folks take note of the car, but 3rd Gen. Firebirds and Trans Ams are the Rodney Dangerfield of the model line. They don't get no respect. LOL It does okay on gas. I mostly drive around in the city with it (I don't have to travel long distances) and one time I measured it and came up 14 miles to the gallon. Granted, that's not really that great but I've heard of worse gas mileage on newer cars. LOL. Now, it's also a standard transmission and I probably don't drive it as efficiently as I should be. Highway miles are probably a little better but like I said, I don't travel long distances with it. All in all, it's a V6 so it's not a complete gas hogg...er hog.. LOL It's actually pretty comfortable ride, although you do feel every rut and hole in the road. It handles nice though. The seats I have are pretty decent, even for being over 20 years old. There's good support for the back. It's a nice cruiser car. I've been working piecemeal at minor restoration of it. Within the next couple of years I hope to have bodywork and paint done. I'm debating whether to keep it black or go with another color.
  7. Nope, we haven't deleted this topic because we really don't find it offensive. The Dukes was family oriented, yes, but let's be real. The early episodes had some risque moments (for 1979 anyway) and Daisy's clothes and shorts were risque enough through the whole run of the show. If there are men and boys out there who AREN'T paying attention to Daisy beyond her smile, then there is something seriously wrong with them. ROFL Afterall, ladies, Bo and Luke went shirtless many times on the show and don't tell me you never noticed. I've always been partial to Bo in those circumstances... I don't think Cathy would really be at all upset about anybody catching whatever wardrobe malfunctions she had on the show. One of the Dukes tv specials (Life and Times or some such) she talks candidly about doing some scene and then turning around and everyone has turned away from her. She thought she had bombed the scene. Then she realized she had fallen out of her shirt. LOL. And speaking from the female point of view, I had often wondered how she managed to keep them in with some of the tops she wore! Turns out it was apparently harder than it looked. Anyway, we keep things pretty casual and open around here. I've been watching this thread and have let it go. There's some topic threads that are a little more eyebrow raising (without being so bad as to outright violate FCC standards, which are going lower everyday anyway). TX has pointed out already our Moderator Meeting Minutes. Ah, yes, we maintain a high standard here. But we sometimes sink to new highs in lows too. What I am glad to see is that, although some of y'all don't agree with some things that are posted, you handle yourselves respectfully. Please continue to do so. The three of us can't look at every thread on the forums everyday, but we do make our way around. Don't worry, we'll let ya know if anyone is being totally out of line with anything. Specifically, TX handled the situation just fine. He posted a topic, put the link to the eva-dence in the topic as opposed to posting the actual photo. You have a choice on whether or not to view the eva-dence submitted. Nobody's making you click on links. Now, we don't wanna see folks having to check with us all the time about posting stuff because we just don't have the time to do that. Use your best judgement. But also remember, this isn't a forum for The Waltons. This is the Dukes of Hazzard. And if somewhat adult topics and humour offend you, I seriously have to ask what Dukes of Hazzard show have you been watching all these years?
  8. Roger and everyone, I wish y'all a very Merry Christmas as well. HazzardNet has truly been like a family to me over the years and is a great community. I love seeng new folks come in come to feel right at home and I love it when someone who's been away for awhile, comes back home. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year y'all!

    Name songs

There's another song called "Amanda" done by the band Boston. "MaryAnne" by the Four Seasons "I'm Not Lisa" by Jessi Colter "Linda" by Conway Twitty "Marie's the Name (of his latest flame)" by Elvis "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers "Ruby" by Kenny Rogers "Sara" by Starship (also a song by Hall & Oates) "Hollyann" by Boston Those are the ones I can think of at the moment. LOL
  10. Yes I do have a Firebird! It's an older one tho', 1986... I named my Firebird Maverick because I like actor James Garner who drove a Firebird on The Rockford Files in the '70's and back in the '50s was one of the leads in the tv series "Maverick." (My fanfic character, MaryAnne, drives a '78 Firebird also called Maverick. I'd like to have a '77 or '78 one day too. Khee!) As for Sassy... I was trying to think of a name and my dad said something to the effect of "the sassy Saturn." Voila!
  11. *as Daney heads off toward the radio station, one disgruntled deputy goes into the courthouse* "Jit jit!" *Rosco exclaims in greeting* "You awright?" "Yeah. Fine. Lieutenant Morrison just stole my car. Serves me right tho' for telling Alex to steal his." *walks up to the booking desk to retrieve another set of keys* "What are you going to do?" *Rosco asks* "Well, Sheriff, we've got two car theives tearing around Hazzard. I'm not about to sit idle. You?" *Rosco blinks and then suddenly straightens up* "Jit! No! I'm Sheriff around here and you're right. We got laws in this town! Let's go uphold them laws!" "Now you're talkin'." *grins and then turns to the few folks who are still milling about the booking room* "Sorry folks, the Bad Guy Contest looks to be down to three participants, even if one of them wears a badge. And I don't mean myself or Rosco. I certainly invite everyone to stick around to watch things unfold and listen in on your CB's if you want. Thanks for coming out and we'll see you on the flip side." *as the crowd dispurses, goes up to the holding cell where Lex has been sitting* "Awrighty, Lex, I'm gonna let you out of here. But no more pointing fake guns at people eh? Or real guns either." *unlocks the cell door and holds it open*
  12. Ya know, this ain't such a bad idea, given gas prices as they are! LOL
  13. I named both of my cars. LOL. My Firebird is "Maverick" my Saturn is "Sassy." LOL
  14. Darrell, welcome back! And what great news to report! Congratulations on all of it. Now hopefully you'll find a house to make a home for your expanding family. Khee! I'm glad to hear everything is going well for you. I've missed seeing you post here and am glad to see you back. MaryAnne
  15. *as the grey Caprice jackrabbited toward the square, a white Plymouth Fury came around from the backside of the courthouse in time to see the commotion. Nearly hits the lieutenant who's standing in the middle of the road, watching for the second time that day his car leave without him behind the wheel* *slams the brakes and lays on the horn* "HEY! Just because we ain't got no stop lights in this town doesn't mean we condone jaywalkin'! Get outta the road!"
  16. *nods* "That's what I figured." *steps back around to stand before Alex* "You didn't hear any of this from me but the cop's name is Jack Morrison and he's more than likely here in Hazzard looking for Brian to dispense some justice. I had no idea he was coming, but I figure the reason he came to the courthouse to see me was to issue fair warning. As a duly sworn deputy, I can't completely interfere with him, but he'll know of my vocal protest if nothing else. You on the other hand can help Brian more directly." *glances at the Caprice* "I'll leave it to your discretion, Alex."
  17. "It's not about what I want, Alex. This is about what you want." *paces around to the front of the Chevy and pauses to look back to Alex. Gestures the Caprice itself* "This car represents a crossroads decision in this Bad Guy Challenge. It's up to you, Alex. Do you truly want to be the Ultimate Bad Guy in Hazzard? Or....would you perhaps want to help your Blood Brother, Brian?"
  18. The final chapter and epiloge (which I can never remember if it's spelled epiloge or epilouge or epilogue) have been posted! Thanks to all who have read this story. Both of you. LOL
  19. I wonder how long it takes to cook that bird? GAH! ROFL Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
  20. "Well I'm pretty sure I heard the distinct call of one black clad turkey coming from that direction." *points off to the right* "So we'll head that way. As for a special call....we don't have to worry about that. I've got just the thing..." *walks back to Maverick, pops the trunk and removes two hand held radios. Closes trunk and walks back to Hilery, handing her one of the radios* "I've been a deputy too long to not be prepared for situations like this. Khee!"
  21. *a white patrol car pulls up a couple of minutes later. Gets out and walks to Alex and the grey Chevy. Expression is neutral but nods, acknowledging the success of stealing the car. Now comes the important part...* "Very good. Now that you've stolen a cop's car, Alex, what are you going to do with it? Bear in mind you can't take it to a chop shop."
  22. *walks over to Hilery's Mustang where the young Davenport is suiting up* "You know, that's not a bad idea. You're right, them turkey's out there are pretty smarmy. We should probably stick together." *grins*
  23. *a half mile from the woods, a normally uniformed deputy sheriff has traded her uniform for the the clothing required by paintballers. Black pants and tunic with appropritae padding, along with black gloves and a helmet that looks like a cross between a BMX bikers helmet and something from an Imperial Storm Troopers closet finishes the look.* *standing next to a blue Firebird, adjusts the gloves. On the hood rests a paintball gun, modeled after an Army M-16 carbine. An ammunition belt is slung around the waist and a black back pack is hefted over back. The pack containing various Who The Heck Knows materials* *in the distance, hears the call of the Wild Turkey.* *picks up the carbine* "Let the hunt begin..."
  24. "Meet me at Willow Corners. You've got..." *looks at watch* "...twenty minutes." *grins*
  25. *signs up on the sheet* I'll be a hunter. I think Brian should be a turkey. Khee!
