  1. Thanks to both boluke and TomBo for posting these pictures. As I'll probably never make it there in person, these are the closest I'm likely to get. I did a bit of a virtual tour of Gatlinburg on Google Street View, and it still shows pictures of the original site. The new place was Camp Thunder when the pictures were taken (the map indicates the right place).

& sad to say here it is in a 1009 shot:

What did you expect to be there 1001 years ago? :).

  2. Looks like BoJames finally has some competition from boluke and MaryAnne.

See how you get on with these:

    Raid Seaport

    Daub Inky Eyelids

    Science Of No Torsos

    A Closemouthed Bakery Urge

    My Wall Mops

    Then I Get 'Em

    Novelist Faces Lull

    Diluted Rusty Lasagna

    Bather Nearest Boss

    Weekend Huts

  3. Slightly off topic but, in my defense, I was at work when I saw this episode the other day. In the first 3 season of M*A*S*H Henry Blake has a coffee mug from the University of Illinois. Can't help thinking that's a great color scheme :).

  4. OH JOY! A movie of Knight Rider...hmmm wonder how they'll mess this one up...Kinda like they messed the movies of Charlies Angels up, and Starsky and Hutch, and Bewitched and not to mention the 2 Dukes movies they messed up...but that is just my opinion....I think they need to stop trying to remake the original...there ain't nothin gonna replace the original....I havent seen the A-Team movie but I'm sure they probably didn't do the original one justice either....

I did see the A-Team movie (for some reason it was released in the UK and Ireland about 2 months after the US). I wasn't like the original, but I still quite enjoyed it. There were some nice comedy touches but, just like the new Knight Rider, there were also some ridiculously OTT CGI special effects. I am old enough to remember watching the series when it was first shown in the '80s, whereas some of the friends I saw it with weren't even born then. They've grown up with CGI being the norm, but agreed with me that it went too far in this movie. Why can't we have a good action film with stunts done for real?. The other thing that annoyed me was that they'd gone to the trouble of putting BA's van in the movie, got the make and model right, then messed up some of the smaller details like the stripe.

Out of the other movies you mention, I thought Bewitched was the least bad because they didn't try to remake the series, they just set the movie around remaking it. Probably just as well - they could never replace Elizabeth Montgomery.

I'd not heard about the Magnum movie and I can't find a lot about it at the moment (IMDb still have it in the Pro section). One recent piece I did find suggested Ashton Kutcher may play the lead after George Cooney turned it down. Can't say I'm holding my breath for that.
