  1. Brian - Thank you fro the info. What would we do around here without you. My apologies for getting on the others in this thread.. You would think they (WB) would have secured the rights back in 79 to 85 when the show was on the air. Wasn't there a legal action back then against the show too? I might be mistaken on that. Definately the best thing to do would have been to wait to after the movie had made it's money at the box office and DVD sales. Unfortunately now , WB has a chance to actually limit the release and potentially work the numbers in there favor unless they settled for a flat fee. But is was settle rather quickly. Funny how this only came out as a little "studio briefing" . No mention of a lawsuit earlier before it went to a judge. No other mentions on entertainment news sites or anything else. Well at least not yet anyway.
  2. I know Wal-Mart was selling that DVD a few weeks ago. It has 3 episodes from season 1 on it. I wonder if it the same DVD or it was pulled for some reason....Maybe it will have 3 different episodes on it.....I don't know... http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3257
  3. Where have you read that??? Please provide a link to reference it......
  4. I have no idea t otwhat you are talking about. Provide a link to what you read ......
  5. That is what I have been "preaching" about for a long time on here..... We get the Dukes fever all over again with the movie. I have always said that the movie will bring new generation of Dukes fans who will hopefully discover the original legacy. WE have gotten a ton of Dukes stuff this year because of the movie, DVD's of the first 3 seasons so far, the re-release of the original Dukes Of Hazzard album on CD, re-releases of the ERTL/Joy Ride diecast cars, and best of all reruns i na great time slot on CMT.... I tell you a Dukes fan I am very thankful for all of this. And it is because of the movie. Because of the movie this and other Dukes message boards are very active. Either way , I am looking forward to the movie. Seeing the General fly and the awesome stunts, Burt Reynolds(which I still say will make a good Boss Hogg) , Willie Nelson(who will make a good Uncle Jesse), Bo & Luke as modern day Good Ol' Boys who better have morals and respect like the originals(even if they are a bit wild, they must have the manners) ... Later Darrell
  6. what about the South's true hard rock rednecks...... Rock Me , Roll Me , JACKYL Me Off
  7. Here is another article from Aw, Shucks that I got a link from... This is total corporate BS political correctness.. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=106116 Chrysler Shuns Marketing Deal With Dukes of Hazzard Movie Date Posted 06-17-2005 CHELSEA, Mich. — The Chrysler Group will not tie in any marketing of its 2006 Dodge Charger with the upcoming movie, The Dukes of Hazzard, because it is afraid the display of the Confederate flag on the movie's vintage Charger will offend some viewers. The movie, scheduled to open August 5, is based on the TV series that ran from 1979 to 1985 and featured "good old boy" cousins eluding authorities in The General Lee, a 1969 orange Dodge Charger with a Confederate flag on the roof. The movie stars Jessica Simpson, Burt Reynolds and Willie Nelson. "They gave us the treatment for the movie and talked about a marketing deal, but we said we can't participate if you keep the Confederate flag," Jason Vines, Chrysler Group vice president of communications, told Inside Line. "It's offensive to a lot of people. But they [Warner Bros.] said 'no.' We still get a mention of the Charger in the movie, but we couldn't do anything beyond that." The Confederate battle flag, also called the Southern Cross, has been at the center of controversy for years. It has been described as a proud emblem of Southern heritage and as a shameful reminder of slavery and segregation. The Southern Poverty Law Center says more than 500 extremist groups use the Southern Cross as one of their symbols. What this means to you: The General Lee rides again, but Chrysler doesn't want anything to do with it.
  8. Got this link off a great southern website Aw, Shucks! The article is from WIStv Columbia, SC.... http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=3502987 Turner South surveys Southern opinion on Dukes of Hazzard movie (Atlanta) June 21, 2005 - Atlanta based "Turner South" wanted to know how Southerners feel about the upcoming Dukes of Hazzard movie, so they conducted a survey. They looked at a wide range of topics from the Confederate Flag to the actors in the movie. In the new version, Daisy Duke is played by singer turned actress Jessica Simpson. Turner South asked Southerners who they thought should have been given roles. Southerners picked Katie Holmes to play Daisy. Apparently all the talk about her engagement to Tom Cruise is paying off. She beat out Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, and Scarlett Johansson as top picks. The movie could have Dukes of Hazzard fashion coming back. 38% of Southerners in the survey say those short shorts known as Daisy Dukes should come back in style. The new movie has the roles of Bo and Luke Duke, performed by Johnny Knoxville who is best known for doing outrageous stunts for an MTV show. Seann William Scott who became famous for roles in American Pie and Dude Where's My Car also stars. According to Southerners in the survey, Matthew McConaughey and Luke Wilson would have been a better fit for the roles. Other popular duos for Bo and Luke were Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller and Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher. The survey didn't just look at actors. When asked about the Confederate Flag on top of the General Lee, 76% said leave it on the car for the remake. Turner South also asked if the characters are offensive. Most people said they are not, but more than half said they do not accurately represent Southern culture. The Turner South survey also looked at other TV shows Southerners would like to come back as movies. Apparently people want to see Knight Rider, MacGyver, Magnum, PI, and the A-Team all re-made into Hollywood movies.
  9. Black Label Society.......... Zakk Wylde is a true guitar God. If it wasn't Zakk I probably wouldn't like them.
  10. Brian.... Thank you very much for sharing that. As a father , I highly appreciate the thoughtfulness on your part to post something about Father's Day. Especially the spiritual passage you shared. Thank you from a proud father of 3 wonderful children. Darrell
  11. Watching last nights CMT episode with Boss's Diary, Rosco attempts to jump over the hood of the Sheriffs car ala Bo & Luke. He slides right on his butt and almost gets hit by a oncoming car. I have never laughed so hard at a Rosco moment. I thought that was classic..... Darrell
  12. Catherine Bell is in the TV show JAG....... Everybody on here had their choices to play Daisy in the movie and Jessica Simpson was NOT one of them. But her dumbness might be a very good public relations move. Just acting that way will keep people talking and articles published. Remember the saying -Any Publicity Is Good Publicity. We used to get MuchMusic here til a couple of years ago and they switched the channel to Fuse(another music channel). I discovered some great bands on Much that MTV wouldn't even think about playing. Much had some great music shows , but the Much Music awards show sucked big time , except for some performances. I use to like Ed the sock puppet and some of his interviews and insight. Darrell
  13. How does that song from South Park - The Movie go? Blame Canada
  14. I like Junior Brown and his own uniqueness .The guy is an amazing guit-steel player....I have a couple of CD's of his , Semi Crazy and Junior High..... I think he would make a good balladeer, just never thought of it..... Darrell
  15. Political Correctness is running rampant.......That bugs the heck out of me that they can't leave the General the way we all know and love and recognize ...... Damn hollywood studio...I hope this doesn't mean anything when the movie comes out like if they CGI the flag off the car or anything like that. Better not happen... Darrell
  16. That would be something if he was the balladeer. I guess we will find out soon enough. Thank you Inga for the info...... Darrell
  17. JHM....I think you are in your own alternate reality. Why do you think all True Die-hard Hazzardites think this movie will be a bomb ? As far as CGI, you are very mistaken. Most of the stunts were done real with a little bit of CGI to enhance some things. You can tell the movie will suck because of a 2 minute trailer? You must be some kind of critic then. I want your job then. I might like the humor that was in the trailer , but it was only a 2 MINUTE preview, NOT a 90 minute movie. Also you mentioned to me in a previous post the title of this thread. . The tilte of the thread is "Sorry For Knocking The Movie To Shreds" - go back and read the thread form the beginning. You might learn something.... Posted: Wed Jun 15, 2005 5:10 pm Post subject: Capt redneck I’m glad you like what I have to say but the title of this thread is about the new duke movie I saw a couple a trailers and I didn’t like what I saw. But what I said is nothing different from that of what anyone else on this site has said about the movie. \ I am not here to change anyone's opinions about the movie. Everyone has their own right to think what they will. I just want people to keep an open mind about it. We all may be surprised either way. One more thing, JHM...........It is HAZZARD not Hazard...... Later Darrell
  18. numb........Welcome to HazzardNet. Enjoy your time here, there are some people here.... Thanks for the info , much appreciated.... Darrell
  19. JHM....I like your b****in' & Gripin' , you are entitled to do it, but when new people come on here and start trashing stuff imediately, it's gets my gander up. There is no need to for that... Get your facts straight about CMT, but I am guessing you live in Canada then because of the scheduling. Also do you have any idea what exactly is in the script and how the characters are actually going to be portrayed? A 2 minute trailer really gives you alot? Like I said , preconcieved ideas because of the actors is getting a lot of people in an uproar, and again maybe they will surprise you, then again maybe not.....Did you see the WalMart special DVD that came out a few weeks ago? It was more of a behind the scenes of the movie. Later Darrell
  20. Wasn't it to be called the "Boar's Nest West" or something like that..... I liked that TV show - Alice - a lot when I was a kid...... Jerry Reed was a couple of episodes too .. Florence Jean Castleberry - Kiss My Grits & When Pigs Fly..... Darrell
  21. On the flip side of the CMT thing...If people want to boycott the movie, and personally I don't think it is that many, if will bring nothing but publicity to CMT and the original Dukes' People would want to tune in and see what all the fuss is about. At least that is what I think. Granted the new movie is targeting a younger audience , but like it has been said before the Dukes appeals to everyone. As far as CMT canceling the Dukes - - From what has been mentioned in TV articles and in some magazines, CMT could not be happier with the Dukes. They have been a ratings hit for them in that time slot - 7:00pm. To anyone that wants to boycott the movie that is your business. Just please stop knocking everything to do with the new movie. Nobody has seen it yet and the peconcieved b****in' & Gripin' that alot of people have are getting tiresome reading in every thread.... Why can't all DOH fans show a little enthusiasm instead of trashing it? I know we all had our opinions about everything to do with the new movie. We just might be surprised how it turns out. ....We will find out August 5th how the movie is when it opens.... Darrell
  22. Don't forget , John was in an episode of " Walker , Texas Ranger" as a firefighter got shot by some gang member.... There was also a TV movie in the early 80's called Dream House. If I remeber right it had to to with trying to build his dream house in the middle of NYC .....I liked that one, haven't seen it in , oh say 20 years.... Darrell
