Well I really don't know where to start in this review of the Las Vegas race since nothing much really happened really worth writing about....Jeff Gordon had a horrible race as he came home 25th a lap down. Not a happy fan today. Kyle Busch got a speeding penalty going too fast going into pit road but raced on to finish fourth today. There was several other pit road penalties...someone had too many people on pit road. Can't remember who though. Ryan Newman had another engine problem today. Well I was wondering when they would switch to this year's points as to where they would line up if qualifying got rained out - as it did today where they lined up according to where they finished the season in points last year - well the announcers on FOX just answered my question. They will start it next week...if they get rained out next weekend they will line up to where they are in points thus far this year. LET'S GO JEFF GORDON!!!!!!!! BTW the race is on right now on FOX...lap ten of 267. Keselowski is in the lead with Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson chasing him.

Yep sorry Roger no 01...just the 1 of Jamie McMurray. Am hoping McMurray will do good this year. He is one of the eight drivers that I have in my fantasy team that I paid to be in through the mail. Only time I have ever paid to be in fantasy sport of any kind...glad you don't have to pay in all Yahoo Fantasy teams...would never be in Fantasy if I did probably. Go Jamie Mac! LOL So Lizzy...you follow NASCAR? You have a favorite driver?

He may have in a few races...don't think full time. He use to drive for Red Bull Racing before they got out of NASCAR. It was him and Brian Vickers. Since then he hasn't done much in NASCAR...yeah gotta love his last name. LOL.

I am ashamed of myself...I should have thought of this song LONG time ago instead of thinking of dog songs the past few days. I use to be one of the biggest Billy Ray Cyrus fans. Saw him seven times in concert...even got shoved on stage with him to get his autograph...Yep I should have thought of this song. This is a great dog song if there ever was one!

Thank you Roger for writing this RP with me. I hope you had as much fun writing this story as I did (though I can't imagine how that could even be remotely possible! ). It was great writing about two of my favorite things...Dukes of Hazzard and Jeff Gordon (NASCAR). Am so glad that Hazzard likes happy endings and that it ended happy for everyone...including Jeff Gordon. I really hope that you are right, Roger, that Gordon's NASCAR season will have an happy ending as well. Have read a couple of articles lately of Gordon's career advice for others and ideas of what he may have in store after he gets done with NASCAR (personally hope that is in another hundred years if not more!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be the saddest NASCAR fan when he does retire ) and I really want him to win one, two...or perhaps ten more championships before he calls it an end. Is that too much to ask? I believe not! LOL Thanks to all who has followed our story and read it all...hope you had enjoyed reading it as much as I had writing the story. Thanks again Roger...it has been fun!

Well we are in Las Vegas this weekend where Tony Stewart won at last year. It is considered a super speedway and is 1.5 miles around. The Natiowide Series race will be tomorrow at 4:00 EST on ESPN...while the Spring Cup will race on Sunday at 3:00 EST on FOX. Well qualifying (Sprint Cup) was rained out so it looks like NASCAR fell back on last year's point standings as to how they lined up. For example...Brad Keselowski won the championship last year - he is sitting on pole for Sunday's race. Jeff Gordon finished tenth in points and will start tenth. Dale Jr finished the season twelveth and will start twelveth...am sure you got the idea. LOL. (On a side note, just looked up what Hamlin got in trouble for in 2010. He got fined $50,000 for a conversation he had on Twitter with a NASCAR writer (I think...) after a Nationwide Series race in Chicagoland. Where he was talking about cautions (may be the one I was talking about above...) and supposedly saying that NASCAR was "fixed". NASCAR refused to say either way who was fined or for what. But Sports Illustrated, who wrote the article I read, said it was confirmed...)

Yeah NASCAR is pretty strict or can be strict over what is said if it has something to do with their car or the sport. I remember last year someone...can't remember exactly who...got in some trouble for complaining a caution that was thrown calling it a phantom caution. Don't remember if the driver was fined or not for that. Do feel like Hamlin should have given the car more of a chance than just two races to start complaining against it, but that is his choice and am sure he was frustrated with the type of racing it has created thus far in this early season. But fining him over what he said seems wrong. It all seems very petty to me. Just read a Tweet that Denny wrote that said he is refusing to pay the fine and will appeal it. Also stated that he had been watching what he said to the media ever since he got fined by NASCAR in 2010 and didn't feel like what he said was enough to get him into trouble. Also stated that NASCAR had lost one of their biggest supporters by going through with this... What also I found troubling was the fact that in his tweet, Denny said that NASCAR didn't even sit down to talk to him about it. Just gave him the fine. Do believe NASCAR needs to sit back and pick their battles...to me this isn't something worth bringing their name in the mud for. Because so far, all that I have read, is negative feedback about the fine. Everyone should have their right to their opinions and to express them. Ah well...that there is my two cents worth. For how little it is worth.

Well I really don't know if I should laugh at this or if I should get upset about the nonsense of it all... NASCAR has fined Denny Hamlin $25,000 for comments he had made after the Phoenix race on Sunday. NASCAR fines Denny Hamlin According to the article Denny had made remarks about the new Gen6 car (NASCAR's baby so to speak) and how it was a lot like the old car and how it was or is hard to pass making the racing go single file. Though the article makes it sound like they don't know if that is exactly what he said that brought upon the fine. Being the NASCAR fan that I am, I do see where NASCAR is coming with this. NASCAR wants to bring fans in, bring viewers in. Having their star drivers go up and diss their product will only bring negativity to the sport. Especially to the new car that they anxiously awaited for the debut over. But $25,000 worth? Guess to a Hamlin who probably earns that or more so in a single week it is just a dent in his weekly earnings. But it is the whole point of it all. Hamlin was stating facts and how he felt, one should have the right to express their opinions, right? Then again when the Car of Tomorrow came out (the last car) NASCAR was very strict with how it was dealt with. Both Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson was fined money and points, their cc suspended a couple of races, when they didn't have the exact measurements perfectly aligned to NASCAR's expectations. You didn't mess with the COT and I am sure they will be like that with Gen 6 as well. So perhaps Hamlin should be happy with a monetary fine and not a point fine? NASCAR is protective over thier car's and the racing and have been known to talk to drivers in the past over what they had said publicly...can't remember if they fined them or not. So then again, Hamlin should have known to watch what he had said public about it all when he said it. Guess whether or not I agree with the fine, I will just stay relieved that the fine and this negative publicity is outside of the Hendrick camp this time.

I will posting the NASCAR Sprint Cup Point standings on this thread...as the title suggests. I will most likely do it on Monday or Tuesday seeing how NASCAR makes the point standings official on Monday...they do post them after the race, but they are unofficial. Just a small summary for the points. A driver can earn up to 48 points in a single race. They gain a point for each position that they gain...there is 43 drivers that start every race. The winning car will get 43 points, the last car will get one point. Then you can get a point for leading a lap, a point for leading the most laps...and the driver who won the race earns three extra points. There is 36 point races in a season (The Sprint Unlimited, the Duels, and the All Star race are none point races). The first 26 races are considered the regular season where as the last ten races (starting at Chicagoland) is considered the Chase (kinda like the play off section in football and baseball). The top twelve drivers in points after the regular part of the season makes the Chase. For each win the drivers who make it into the Chase, will earn ten bonus points per win and they will be seeded in that order. For example when the Chase starts the driver who has the most wins in the regular season will be seeded in first place in points...the one with the least amount of wins will come in twelveth... Meanwhile the other drivers 13 on down in points will continue to race against the Chase driver and go for the wins, but the best that they can finish at the end of the season will be 13th. Most drivers in this position will most likely use this time to experiment new things and work on things for next year. The season usually starts the fourth Sunday in February at Daytona and end the Sunday before Thanksgiving at Homestead where they will find who won that year's championship. Those two drivers will then be pulled into the chase due to just their wins while the top ten are there are by the points from the regular season.

Jeff Gordon looks over at the commissioner in shock and disbelief at hearing how much he has volunteered to give the orphanage. "Wow Comissioner," he says with a smile as he steps up to him, "those kids in the orphanage will be very grateful for your donation and blessed. Thank you Commissioner Hogg." Gordon gives him a thin smile as he shakes Hogg's hand before turning to Rosco. "Thanks for a good race, Sheriff," he says shaking his hand, "just wish we all had met on different terms." Gordon gives the two and the Beaundrys another look before turning around to walk towards Bo, Luke, Daisy, Jesse, Cooter, Alan, and Thom. As he gets there, Alan asks, "Are you ready to get goin'? The team is ready to get the car back on track and you behind the wheel." Jeff shakes his head for a moment. "Sorry Alan. Thom," he says with a smile and for the first time in the past few days, the feel of freedom sinks in, "I got some autographs to sign first, then Bo here says he'll let me drive The General if I let him drive my car, and afterwards Jesse there has invited us over for some some supper. The boys can wait til tomorrow." "Jeff," Alan starts in, "I don't think you understand how important this is. You championships are now over. You missed yesterday's race. You know, the real race? You left your fans looking for you on the track. Disappointed. Your sponsors, Mr. H...everyone disappointed by your disappearance. And why? Because you wanted to go off on your own. And oh yeah, do I have to remind you that you are married? Have two kids? All of whom have been scared to death for you...and you want to wait til morning to go back?" Jeff slowly shrugs it off. "Relax Alan. I called Ingrid. Talked to Ella and Leo. They know where I am at and know I will be home tomorrow. I talked to Mr. H and told him the same. I already missed yesterday's race due to those two clowns back there...nothing I can do to fix that or to change that. We won't have to be to Chicago for a couple of days," Jeff pauses and pats Bo on the shoulder, "so we will spend the night and leave after breakfast. Be back to North Carolina by noon and I will do a team conference before doing a press conference to explain my disapperance. Try to settle things out as best that I can. But for now, I think I owe it to the Dukes and those people in the stands to sign some autographs. Plus I am dying to drive The General Lee. Did you look at it?" Alan lets go a breathe in defeat at all the points Jeff has just stated. "Guess I don't have much of a case. Am I invited?" he states with a smile. "Of course you and Thom are invited," Jesse states with a smile ************************ After a couple of hours of signing autographs that had started with Bo and the Dukes and ended with signing Hogg's white Stetson hat and Rosco's uniform shirt, people slowly make their way to their seats. Including Boss and Rosco and the Beaundry's who also got an autograph. Everyone getting in their seats at the prompting of Alan Gustafson who had taken then microphone from Hogg to announce a surprise second race. "Damn this is unbelieveable!" Bo yells in excitement as he glares down at the AARP Chevy Impala that sits in front of him. Only to recieve a disapproving look from Jesse. "Well look at it! I get to drive an actual NASCAR car...the car Gordon won at Atlanta with!" Jesse pats him on the shoulder and gives him an understanding look. "Yeah well," he states, "you better not wreck it. Gordon may not be so understanding." "Me wreck it? Never!" Bo states with a smile as he places on Jeff's official NASCAR helmet. "You look like you are ready to go to the moon in that thing," Luke states with a proud smile, "though don't you think that it would be best to get the helmet on once you get in the car?" Bo pulls it off. "Yeah maybe so," his smile disappears momentarily, "I just hate that there is no passenger seat. Perhaps you should drive it, Luke." Jesse gives Bo a proud smile. "Me?" Luke asks with a smile and shakes his head, "No way. Jeff has already said he wants me in the passenger seat of The General Lee. Besides, he says he wants YOU to race his car. Not me." They both look over to their beloved General Lee where both Alan and Jeff are looking under the hood. "And Alan?" Bo asks. "Him and Alan will be in the back seat," Luke states with a smile, "so in other words, Bo, don't go wrecking us, either." "Of course not," Bo states as gives Luke a tight hug before Jesse hugs him, "I wouldn't want to hurt Jeff, Alan, or the General, would I?" "Get in there," Luke says with a laugh and Bo shrugs and pulls himself into the driver's seat of the famous 24 Impala, fitting comfortably inside the well protected driver seat that almost resembles a baby car seat. The seat and HANS device tightly hugging his body to ensure that his body and neck will not be able to move in case of an accident. "We will see you at the finish line." "That's a ten four," Bo states as they both disappear. Jesse meets up with Daisy at the start finish line as she holds the flag, while Luke runs over to the General and climbs into the passenger seat. "You all ready? Bo's ready?" Jeff asks wearing Bo's orange helmet, a huge kid like smile on his face. "We're ready," Cooter laughs crazily in the backseat. "I'm ready and Bo's more than ready," Luke states and Jeff fires up the engine and drives the General to the start line where Bo is already at, "I think he thinks he has died and went to heaven in your car, Jeff." "Well you can tell him...if he is ever interested in becoming a NASCAR driver to let me know and I can see about getting him connected. But damn that would mean I'd have to race him every week. That just may limit my chances at the championship next year," Jeff laughs. "Not a chance. Your drive for five is on next year...no matter who your competition is," Alan states confidently in the back seat, "no disrespect to Bo or you Luke. Sorry." "Bo and I wouldn't want it any other way, Alan. Bo gets all loud and crazy when you win," Luke states as he steals a look into Bo's window who is looking over at them, "but I will let him know. That will only feed into his oversized ego...but sadly he and I are both needed to keep the farm up and going as it is. Still he will appreciate the offer." "I mean it. He has great talent and I bet you do too, Luke," Jeff states, "both of you would bring great talent into NASCAR." "We appreciate that. I do pretty good behind the wheel," Luke slowly states and for a moment lets himself imagine him and Bo in NASCAR before the reality behind the farm pops him out of it, "but Bo is way better than I am behind the wheel." "You boys ready?" Daisy asks in their window to pull their attention to her. "Sure are, Daisy," Jeff nods at her. "OK then," she smiles at him before she walks over to Bo's window to say something before she walks back over to where Jesse stands. After a few words with Jesse she pulls her attention back at them and starts waving the flag. "Go, go, go," Alan yells from the backseat as Bo gets a half an inch lead start and Jeff pulls out with great control over The General. THE END

Well the Phoenix race has just ended...I think the races are faster this year than any year before...or is it just me? HA. Mark Martin started from the pole and led a lot of laps before fading out of the top ten. It was not Kyle or Kurt Busch's race at all. Kurt has been sick all weekend, had been hooked to IVs earlier and then ahd to go to a back up car due to hitting the wall during qualifying. Both Hamlin and Kyle Busch (team mates) had to go to the back as well due to engine problems. Kyle and Kurt's mom was in a golf cart on the track somewhere before the race or last night when it flipped and hurt her and seven others. Sounds like she will be OK. Hamlin was able to move up through out the race to finish third. Meanwhile Kyle spun out on his own during the first half of the race and later hit the wall just after Kurt Busch hit the wall. Ryan Newmna hit the wall when a tire bead melted...a few laps later it happened again and he hit the wall hard. He got out of his car and ran across the track and to the garage. Did have to feel bad for him...looked like he just got tired of his car and wanted to get as far away from it as possible. And Danica Patrick got a wake up call from last week's great Daytona race for her when her car hit the wall hard and David Ragen ran over the side of her car. Was glad to see that she was OK. It was an up and down race for Jeff Gordon. Started in the top ten then during a four tire pit stop fell out to 21st and he had to work hard and came home nineth. Towards the end everyone was saving gas...Joey Logano ran out of gas. Five laps to go, another caution was thrown Kenny Shrader hit the wall to throw out the yellow. Which made it a nerve wrecking finish... Dale Earnhardt Jr led 46 laps after hanging out 30th for some time... But after a seventy race winless drought of Carl Edwards' famous victory backward flip, we got to see the backward flip again as he won at Phoenix today. Jimmie Johnson fought back Hamlin to come in second... Hey y'all I was just watching "Race Day" on SPEED when this commercial comes on and I was thinking this guy on this commercial looks like John Schneider. Well guess what. It was John Schneider. John Schneider will be on "R U Faster than a Redneck". It is on SPEED Channel tomorrow night. It is on at 8:00 Central time. Looks good but sadly I won't be able to watch it. Just exciting to see Bo Duke in between Race Day...

Well this is unrelated to either Nationwide Series accident but it is in the Nationwide Series so I thought I would post it here. Will have to create a Nationwide Series thread if news from that series keeps going on like it has... Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements has been suspended indefinately by NASCAR for making an "intolerable and insensitive" remark. NASCAR and Clements are both refusing to say what was said, but that it was said during the course of an interview. I have read in another site that it was of a racial slur... Clements has apologized for what he said and to his fans and NASCAR. On a positive note... Lowes has extended their sponsorship of Sprint Cup driver Jimmie Johnson for another two years. It was rumored that they were going to pull out...so this JG/JJ fan is super excited that JJ's main sposnor for the twelve years he has been in SPrint Cup will be with him through the 2015 season. (Sorry I didn't want to cover up this thread by writing up Johnson's news in it's proper Sprint Cup News.) Please let me know if you are interested in Nationwide Series and I will do my best to post the results of the races. I don't normally watch that series, but I do keep an eye on who wins and if anything had happened during the race. So I would be glad to write that up too as well as the Sprint Cup...may do so either way, but would appreciate to know if anyone would be interested in it. Thank you.

As for the fans that were injured, most have been released from the hospital and the two that were proclaimed critical has been moved or listed as being stable now. I have read where some of the fans are looking into lawsuits or what they can do lawfully against NASCAR for the accident. Though their lawyers are saying they don't know how far they can take it since NASCAR has on the ticket stating their risk of going to the race. Personally I don't know what else NASCAR could do to prevent all that had happened to happen. Though I am sure if their is something that needs to be fixed, NASCAR will fix it. They have already stated that the fence was top of the art. Those cars are going 200 mph and are real touchy with air and drafting and all that and when they are all drafting like that who can control where the cars land when they wreck? I don't know. My prayers are still with the injured. With the drivers. With NASCAR. That they can learn from this and move forward with a higher quality fence or whatever it may take. Though the fans were not the only ones injured in the Nationwide Series race...I guess there was an eleven car wreck on lap 116 that sent Michael Annett's Richard Petty Motorsport 43 car head on into the wall. He was taken to the same Halifax Medical Center, the fans were taken to, and kept over night for evaluation and observation. Annett was diagosed with a dislocated and fractured sternum and will have surgery for his injury. He will be out for some time... Aric Almirola who drives the 43 car in the Sprint Cup Series for Richard Petty will be driving Annett's car at Phoenix this weekend.
