  1. Glad to report that the three injured race fans that was taken to the hospital after the fiber camera cable or wire broke has all been released and sent home.
  2. Well when I said tonight's race was going to be the longest race of the season...I didn't expect two red flags, eleven caution flags, and five hours of racing. The first red flag came when fans were hanging on the fiber camera wire that helped the wire to break and go down on the track. Kyle Busch who was leading the race hit it and it tore his car up...Mark Martin and Marcos Ambrose both hit afterwards to tear their car up. Normally, drivers are unable to fix their cars under red, but NASCAR gave the drivers fifteen minutes to work on their cars before they went back to racing...also gave the drivers their position back to them. Ten fans were injured due to the fiber wire...seven were treated at the track while three was taken to the local hospital for observation. The bizarre incident with the wire didn't slow Kyle down much as he took the lead for several laps before his engine blew...and on the same lap, Dale Jr's engine blew and took Greg Biffle with him. Dave Blaney then t boned Travis Kvapil into the wall in an aftermath of the accident. Ricky Stenhouse Jr wrecked his girl friend...Danica Patrick by not giving her and Brad Keselowski any room and both Keselowski and Patrick hit the wall. Keselowski took the blame for the accident. Jeff Gordon had a great race until he got caught in pits under a caution that had put him a lap down and he was stuck fighting to get his lap down...or the lucky dog. He was racing Aric Almirola for the lucky dog position while Mark Martin made it three wide into the corner and they slammed (accidently) Jeff Gordon into the wall. Am relieved that everyone was able to walk away without any major injuries... (Which brought the race under red flag for the second time...)Right after Gordon's accident, Jimmie Johnson was involved in an accident with Matt Kenseth and Juan Pablo Montoya...and later had his tire blow. Kurt Busch had a great race as he led a few laps, had to change his battery, and came home third. Kasey Kahne led the most laps but lost it during the last pit stops when he stayed out and everyone else pitted. On the restart, Kevin Harvick had a better restart and took the lead and the win. Official results of the Coca-Cola 600: 1. Kevin Harvick 2. Kasey Kahne 3. Kurt Busch 4. Denny Hamlin 5. Joey Logano 6. Ryan Newman 7. Tony Stewart 8. Clint Bowyer 9. Martin Truex Jr. 10. Michael McDowell 43. Scott Speed Congrats to anyone whose driver had a great race tonight... As for me, I am looking forward to Dover...the MONSTER MILE...next Sunday afternoon.
  3. Glad you have a race to watch too, Hoss....but that's not the race that matters to me.
  4. Well it is later than normal for a Sunday...how about that? And the race is scheduled to end around 8:30...so by your measurements, it will be dark by the time the race is over. So maybe it is a late afternoon-night race.
  5. Well y'all ready? Sunday's race is the LONGEST race of the season and guess what? It's a night race! Is anyone else as excited as I am? Too bad they can't all be this long...HA HA. Here is the starting lineup for the Coca-Cola 600: 1 Denny Hamlin 2 Kurt Busch 3 Matt Kenseth 4 Mark Martin 5 Clint Bowyer 6 Kasey Kahne 7 Greg Biffle 8 Kyle Busch 9 Jamie McMurray 10 Ryan Newman 11 Dale Earnhardt Jr 12 Jimmie Johnson 13 Carl Edwards 14 Jeff Gordon 15 Kevin Harvick 16 Juan Pablo Montoya 17 Martin Truex Jr 18 Aric Almirola 19 Marcos Ambrose 20 Brad Keselowski 21 Casey Mears 22 Paul Menard 23 J.J. Yeley 24 Danica Patrick 25 Tony Stewart 26 David Gilliland 27 Jeff Burton 28 Travis Kvapil 29 Trevor Bayne 30 Ricky Stenhouse Jr 31 Joey Logano 32 Michael McDowell 33 Dave Blaney 34 Bobby Labonte 35 David Ragan 36 Regan Smith 37 Scott Speed 38 David Reutimann 39 David Stremme 40 Timmy Hill 41 Joe Nemechek 42 Landon Cassill 43 Josh Wise The race will be on Sunday night at 6:00 ET on FOX!
  6. Yes Jeff Gordon does own HALF of Jimmie's car with Rick Hendrick. And yes at one point they are or were friends. But still found it big of Jeff Gordon that despite the frustrating race he had, he was able to put his problems and frustrations away to congratulate Jimmie Johnson.
  7. Jimmie Johnson has just won his FOURTH All Star race of his career...the one and only to do that in NASCAR history! Congrats to Jimmie Johnson and the entire 48 team on a well deserved win! Well y'all know how much I love NASCAR and the races and refuse to call any race boring...and refuse to miss a race if I don't have to. But if you did miss the All Star race, you didn't really miss anything. The most exciting part of the race was when Rickey Stenhouse Jr hit the wall and spun Mark Martin out. Other than that they went red for a while for rain and had a caution for debris. Kurt Busch won the first segment. Kyle Busch won the second segment. Kyle Busch won the third segment. Kurt Busch won the fourth segment. And... Jimmie Johnson won the fifth and final segment...the million dollar finish! (It was great to see Gordon congratulate JJ on his win during JJ's interview!) Well we are back to some more Charlotte race next Sunday night on FOX...the track that was once nicknamed Jimmie's House since he is or was so good here and was named Lowes for several years. Next week's race is also the longest race of the year...can't wait! The longest race of the season plus a night race equals racing at it's perfection! Only thing better is when Jeff Gordon wins! (I can only hope, right? If not a win, he needs another great point race!)
  8. LOL...I love that story of the Busch brothers wreck in the 2007 All Star race...and how they didn't talk to each other for six months after that when at Thanksgiving their grandmother sat them down and made them talk to each other. HA HA. We are now on the final segment...ten laps. Gonna get crazy...well at least hopefully something will happen since as of now, not much has happened. Other than the Busch brothers being dominant...and Gordon being in the back. Will keep you all updated.
  9. Sadly there is no fantasy racing this week...really missed setting my drivers. Don't be beating yourself up...the season isn't even half over yet. DON'T GIVE UP! Good luck to your Pirates. I saw the incredible luck your Pirates had the other day when the Astros ran into each other to let your Pirates win. Wish my Cubs could get luck like that! HA HA. But instead if something like that...it'd probably the Cubs running into each other like that. So am glad it is the Astros. HA. You are welcome. I could talk NASCAR all day if given the chance...thanks to the Dukes. (Hey Hoss sorry to report but your Stenhouse Jr just wrecked and took Mark Martin with him...)
  10. After being red flagged for rain, drivers are back in their cars and they are ready to get back to racing...and I for one CAN'T WAIT!
  11. Jamie MacMurray won the show down race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr came in second. They both raced their way into the All Star race. Danica Patrick has won the fan vote into the All Star race.
  12. Well the boys have a weekend off for point racing as TONIGHT is the All Star race. No points on the line...only the million dollars that the winner will get. Though not all the drivers will be driving tonight. There will be one driver who is voted into the race, then there is a showdown race where the top two will race their way into the All Star race. Then I do believe that the drivers who won last year and was in the top twelve in the chase last year will be in the All Star Race. The Show down race will be separated into two different segments. The All Star race is separated into five segments. Segment one is 20 laps. Segment two is twenty laps. Segment three is twenty laps. Segment four is twenty laps...then the fifth segment is ten laps. Each segment the winner will get money for that segment...they just said that if you win each segment and win the race you can win up to two million dollars. Starting line up for the All Star...the three from the show down will start after the end... 1 Carl Edwards 2 Kurt Busch 3 Greg Biffle 4 Kyle Busch 5 Joey Logano 6 Clint Bowyer 7 Denny Hamlin 8 Mark Martin 9 Kasey Kahne 10 Jeff Gordon 11 Ryan Newman 12 Brad Keselowski 13 Tony Stewart 14 David Ragan 15 Dale Earnhardt Jr 16 Matt Kenseth 17 Marcos Ambrose 18 Jimmie Johnson 19 Kevin Harvick The pre race show is on SPEED right now...do believe the races will be on SPEED. Line up starting at 7:30 EST.
  13. NASCAR and the entire world of racing has lost a legend as Dick Trickle died yesterday (May 16, 2013) of an apparent suicide as his body was found lying next to his truck at the cemetery where his granddaughter is buried. Trickle is a Wisconsin native where he raced short track (believed to have raced UP to a thousand races!) before moving onto North Carolina and to NASCAR. He was made rookie of the year in NASCAR at the age of 48...raced 303 NASCAR Cup races and yet the best finish he has gotten in NASCAR was third place. Did win two Busch Series races (which is now called Nationwide Series.) Though Tickle didn't have the best success in the Cup series, he did seem to influence a lot of drivers, including Matt Kenseth, who is also from Wisconsin. Here are a couple of good articles on Dick Trickle that I have read... NASCAR community mourns death of Dick Trickle Victoria Trickle – NASCAR driver Dick Trickle’s Daughter (Thanks Hoss for the link. ) I personally can't recall watching Dick race, though his last Cup race was in 2002 I had heard somewhere so I probably have seen him...and his name did sound somewhat familiar when I first heard of this tragic news. This is just incredibly sad. Sad that Trickle felt the need to do this, sad for his family and friends for their incredible loss, and sad for all of his fans and other drivers that Trickle had influenced. Dick was 71 years old. Rest in peace Dick Trickle. You are greatly missed!
  14. Hazzardnet is for sell for thirty million dollars? Just think of all the Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson stuff I could post...could make it a DOH and NASCAR site. Dang it Roger...I was that close for you giving me thirty million dollars? Why you go and cancel the check for? Just think, if you didn't do that, I could be sitting in the same chair Jeff Gordon sat on when he was at the computer right now. Instead, I'm still here at my own chair...what a shame! Thanks for thinking of me all the same though.
  15. It must be...I was waiting for it to correct me and it didn't. Figured I actually spelled it right the first time. So blame the computer. Not me. Forget the lap top...I need that condo way more than you could ever need a new lap top.
  16. Don't understand the elephants, but the pictures I have seen all look very open and beautiful. Who wouldn't want to live there? Especially after Jeff Gordon use to live there? The only HUGE downfall is, is that it is in New York City. I would never survive in a big city...if I could, I'd be living in Chicago! Though seeing how Hoss has agreed to pay the thirty million dollars, I will over look the whole NYC thing and go ahead and open the paypal account. Am looking forward to seeing that money come in, Hoss! Am sure Gordon has memorbilia somewhere. Probably in his big house he just built in Charolette.
  17. Official points as of Monday, May 13, 2013: 1 - Jimmie Johnson 2 - Carl Edwards 3 +1 Matt Kenseth 4 -1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 5 - Clint Bowyer 6 - Brad Keselowski 6 +1 Kasey Kahne 8 +2 Kyle Busch 9 -1 Aric Almirola 10 -1 Paul Menard 10 +2 Kevin Harvick wc 12 +1 Jeff Gordon wc 12 -1 Greg Biffle 14 -1 Martin Truex Jr. 15 - Jamie McMurray 16 - Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 17 - Ryan Newman 18 +2 Kurt Busch 19 -1 Joey Logano 20 -1 Jeff Burton 21 +1 Tony Stewart 22 +3 Juan Pablo Montoya 23 -2 Marcos Ambrose 24 -1 Mark Martin 25 -1 Casey Mears 26 +5 Denny Hamlin 26 - David Ragan 28 -1 Danica Patrick 29 -1 Bobby Labonte 30 -1 Dave Blaney 31 -2 David Gilliland 32 - J.J. Yeley 33 - David Stremme 34 - David Reutimann 35 +1 Landon Cassill 36 +1 Travis Kvapil 37 -2 A J Allmendinger 38 - Scott Speed 39 - Michael McDowell 40 - Michael Waltrip 41 - Terry Labonte 42 - Timmy Hill 43 - Ken Schrader So does anyone have $30 million laying around you can give me to buy Jeff Gordon's Central Park Condo? Would really love to live in a place that Jeff Gordon use to live in...though would hate to live in New York City. But I guess everything would have a negative side. But being the BIG JEFF GORDON fan that I am...do believe I deserve his old condo. Don't you?
  18. Thanks for the screen grab...always great to see Jeff Gordon next to the number 1. Where it should be! Your drivers you listed are doing pretty good themselves at their starts... You don't know what a batting average is? Dang Hoss...you are really missing out! The batting average is how many times a batter hits the ball or gets on base ... so the higher the average the better. Normally it is .230 - .250 a pretty good average. Some are at .300. Always great to have your batter batting .300. (if that makes sense) Anyway am glad I was able to fill you in on what you missed...not an action packed race, but did enjoy it since most of my drivers had a great race.
  19. It was a good birthday. Thanks Roger. You are welcome...love writing the updates. Especially when my drivers...or most of my drivers have a great race. Hope you enjoyed your family...tell your grandson happy birthday for me.
  20. Great actor, great man. Heaven gained an angel when he died...RIP Denver.
  21. Well Hoss if you missed the last fifty or so laps tonight, you missed the most exciting part of the race. Not that that really says anything... Darlington is known as the lady in black. The track too tough to tame. The track who earns her stripes. With all that said... Nothing much really happened tonight as you would expect from Darlington. In the first half of the race, there was only ONE caution and that was for debris. At one point in the race there was ONLY ELEVEN cars on the LEAD LAP. Kurt Busch led the first 69 laps (most laps he led for a few years...want to say they said '08. Could be wrong though). But after the first pit stop, Kurt fought with his car and slid backwards. Kyle Busch (who led the most laps last night and won in the Nationwide Series race) went on to lead the most laps tonight. The second half of the race was a little more eventful as a few cars earned the Darlington stripe...Tony Stewart was one of them. But I think the defining moment of the race was when Kasey Kahne was fighting Kyle Busch for the lead and finally got it for a minute before Kyle Busch went up the track and either brushed up against the side of him or used the air to send Kasey Kahne into the wall. Kahne went back to finish the race seventeenth. Kyle Busch cut a tire and finished sixth as Matt Kenseth went on to win the race...third race of the season. (In case y'all forgot, Kyle Busch caused the big one when he wrecked Kasey Kahne last week at Talladega. Second time in two weeks of wrecking KK = uncool! Then again Kahne is a Hendrick driver so my opinion is biased.) Though this Jeff Gordon fan, though he didn't get his much deserved win, thinks this is one of the best races of the season. Of course it helps that Jeff Gordon stayed in the top ten most of the night, led a couple of laps, and finished THIRD...moving him up unofficially to twelve in points! As I said, this was his seven hundredth career NASCAR start, this was also his three hundredth top five. The announcers said that if he were playing baseball, his batting average would be .429. Is that awesome or is it awesome? Here is the finishing order for tonight's Darlington race: 1. Matt Kenseth 2. Denny Hamlin 3. Jeff Gordon 4. Jimmie Johnson 5. Kevin Harvick 6. Kyle Busch 7. Carl Edwards 8. Juan Pablo Montoya 9. Dale Earnhardt Jr. 10. Ryan Newman 11. Clint Bowyer 12. Martin Truex Jr. 13. Greg Biffle 14. Kurt Busch 15. Tony Stewart 16. Jamie McMurray 17. Kasey Kahne 18. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 19. Paul Menard 20. Aric Almirola 21. Jeff Burton 22. Joey Logano 23. Travis Kvapil 24. Regan Smith 25. Mark Martin 26. Bobby Labonte 27. Dave Blaney 28. Danica Patrick 29. David Gilliland 30. Landon Cassill 31. Joe Nemechek 32. Brad Keselowski 33. Timmy Hill 34. Marcos Ambrose 35. JJ Yeley 36. David Reutimann 37. Casey Mears 38. Josh Wise 39. David Ragen 40. David Stremme 41. Scott Speed 42. Michael McDowell 43. Mike Bliss Well, we are going to take a week off from point racing to do some non point racing as the All Star race is next week at Charlotte. (Well Hoss lucky for you, my internet automatically tells me when I miss spell words...HA HA) Where last year's and up to this part of the year drivers who has won races, poles, and perhaps the top twelve in points get to race...everyone else has to stay home or watch from the sidelines. Do believe it is a night race as well...and then the week after that is the longest race of the season at the same track at the Coca-Cola 600. At the track that was once known as Jimmie's house!
  22. Happy birthday to the late great Denver Pyle...you are greatly missed!
  23. Sorry Hoss to hear you are not feeling well. Hopefully Ricky Jr will help you to feel better. Sorry to let y'all down with my NASCAR review...I went out for my birthday last night. We left right after the qualifying got over and didn't have time to write it...then left early this morning. Just got home. Thank you Hoss for filling in for me. You did a great job. Though you forgot to mention... That today is JEFF GORDON'S seven hundredth consecutive start in NASCAR! Seven hundred races ago, NASCAR got a lot better! KHEE! Hoping for a safe and fun race for everyone...and that Gordon will get his 88th win on his seven hundredth race.
  24. Sorry Hoss but I can't help but to pick up your sarcastic tone in your voice towards NASCAR... As for the suspensions...I don't know what to think about whether or not it should include the All Star race or if it should really matter. It isn't a point race. All it really is for the fame and the money. Talking about suspensions and so forth...Joe Gibbs and Matt Kenseth has had their appeal today (to appeal the penalties Kenseth had received when the rods in his engine were too small a couple races back) and well the three men appeal panel must have been in a generous spirit today. Kenseth has gotten his fifty championship points penalty down to twelve. His crew chief is now suspended only for one race, but his fine still stands as is. Gibbs penalties that he faced were waived entirely. So now instead of being eleventh in points, Kenseth is now fourth in points. Gibbs and Kenseth said they will not take the appeal any farther...which I wouldn't see why they would.
