  1. Copperhead Road. 1. because Steve Earle is a great singer, in my opinion. 2. it suits the Duke family to a T *grins*
  2. Haleigh Rae Harkins Hobie Harkin's niece from Ireland. Hair color: red Eye color: emerald green Age: 17 Shes an immigrant straight from Dubland Ireland. Her and her family came from Ireland and moved straight to Hazzard to stay with Haleigh's uncle, Hobie. Shes a little spitfire and has a red dodge charger named "Thunder". Since her and her family moved to Hazzard, the Dukes, has helped them in many ways...and of course, Haleigh, has her eyes set on the stocky dark haired eldest Duke boy, Luke. yes, she is yet another of my wonderful creations, I created with Lori.
  3. Yea, and a big happy mommy's day from me too!!!
  4. Happy Birthday Uncle Jesse, and like Roger said, keep an eye on J.D lol
  5. no she did not, and if i said no to the first the second one is quite obvious, no she did not..otherwise she wouldnt have ran...and she was 2 years old i believe.
  6. You're right Denver. And I do whole heartly agree with racing responsibly. There was a philly in 75' Ruffian, had leg injuries I believe, as did a philly in 88', Winning Colors, the thid philly to ever win the "Run for the Roses" though, she suffered leg injuries as well. Its been too many female horses that have been in juried, even though males can injury themselvs too, I just believe they're better "equipped".
  7. Well, see General, thats where we disagree my friend. LOL, Reason I see no females, is because muslce and speed in the Ky derby IS everything. Whereas you do bring up a good point about being smaller and being able to squeeze through, yes that is a very good point and reason. But again, the females part....during mating season, which is right around this time...you ever try stickig one philly in a crowd of sutds?? LOL, you don't get a good result...
  8. Well in all honesty, I love horse racing it gives me a rush lol, but it is animal cruelty with the whips and all. see, really, I think a few adjusments should be made: 1. Only male horses should race, considering the femals are smaller and are not as muscular built. 2. It sdhouldnt be a 20 horse race, narrow it down to 15, less dangers for the 3 year olds that are shy, because every horse owner knows with alot of noise, and add the stress, a horse can get spooked or be really timid and shy around other horses....that was the main reason for Eight Belles' tragic accident. 3. only horses ages 3-8 or maybe 3-6 so they're not to young and not to old. 4. Should have alot, years worth atleast, of training. Now, personally those are my opinionms on some of the changes Id make.
  9. I know there is a big controversy over this sport and me posting this new thread, Im hoping I don't get all the animal lovers to jump on my case, cause I know that most people do believe it is a cruel sport. Big Brown won the "Run for the Roses" in the kentucky derby and is going on to the preakness in 2 weeks or so. Also, we lost another great racehorse that day due to the filly's frot ankles being broken because the jokey basically ran her into the railing...Eight Belles was euthanized on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Hopin and prayin nothing goes wrong with Big Brown and he wins the 12th Triple Crown, in the 134th running of the Ky derby. Let's hope he don't go down like Barbaro..
  10. *Makes a sour face* Goat Milk Fudge??? yuck...
  11. Man O' War would be known as a famous race horse... a 5 furlong maiden race at Belmont on June 6, 1919, by 6 lengths. Three days later he won the Keene Memorial by 3 lengths, and followed up with victories in the Youthful Stakes, and Hudson Stakes. before the end of the month, winning both wire-to-wire. I love horse races, because...well, thats what Kentucky is known best for.
  12. LOL well thank ya general, I dont think she'd sound or be just the same without the name, Lori. dont worry, i don't get many brilliant ideas anymore like i use too...rarely do they pop into my mind.
  13. Sorry General took me so long to get back with ya LOL. How'd I come up with Lori's name? To be honest with ya, I was sittin down bout a couple of years ago and I was watching the Dukes, can't remember which episode though, but it was on CMT. I got this idea...see I also write for the book and movie, The Ousiders, I was like well if I have a character for that, then I can for the Dukes. Anyways, I's settin there watching it and the name Loren popped in my mind... and over those couple of years, Miss Lori has had a lot more work done to her so shes changed since i first started writing on here.
  14. yes there is, in the episode "The Haunting of J.D. Hogg" Daisy is talking to a group of young girls about car safety.
  15. Julie...I get that everyday. But mostly, they're talking bout me and my cousins! LOL They'll ask me, well, wheres Bo and Daisy at...and sadly my cousins broke our trio and have moved on me... so im just a one-Duke show! LOL but, I seriously do, people out of town will ask me wheres Cooter or the Dukes at? and have I ever eat Kentucky Fried Chicken.....dont ask me why but they do...
  16. Oh it is good...course if ya big boned...it aint gonna settle to well with yer weight...heheh but maaan it tastes realllly good though...If I had the blooming onions recipe Id give it to ya'll...yet again, another delicacy served at our Black Gold Festival.
  17. I was watchin it at that time of the morning and late that night......every day for awhile.... i get up really early before i go to school to tend to the horses....so im up that early watchin it... and i stay up late at night because: 1. I cant go to bed and wake up as early as i do if I dont, dont ask why because I dont know thats just how I'm use to it. 2. Im usually busy doing my homework because I forget about it...
  18. Black Gold fesitval? its only something around here in Kentucky least I think LOL! Anyways, Black gold is basically coal, and Kentucky and West Virginia are rich in coal. So, we have our annual Black Gold Festival in September, its really great many bands or artists come and perform. We've had alot in the past, and our very own Tom Wopat and the other stars except for Denver Pyle because he was sick, came down. And they loved it..except for Daisy...she was the only one that didnt like it...anyways lol get off y history lesson here... Funnel Cake 1/4 cup self rising flour 1/8 cup sugar 2/3 cups milk 1 egg, slightly beaten vegetable oil ( pour in the skillet til about half way up) sifted powedered sugar Combine flour, sugar, milk, and eggs in a bowl, beating until smooth. Heat 1/4 inch oil to 375 degress in a skillet. Cover bottom opening of a funnel with a finger. Pour 1/4 cup batter into funnel. Hold funnel over skillet. Remove finger from the bottom of the funnel to release into the hot ioil. BE CAREFUL AND DONT LET YOUR OIL GET TOO HOT! get the end of a wooden spoon and put it in the middle of the oil, if small bubbles form around the spoon its hot enough. Move the batter in a spiral shape. Fry each one until both sides are golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel. Repeat with remaning batter. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm. ** Batter should be "runny" like cake batter and should pour freely from a funnel or liquid measuring cup if batter does not pour freely gradually add more milk.
  19. Well, reasonin for mine is, Lori's my character when I write fan fiction and roleplay.
  20. Woo!! I finally learned how to make a Funnel cake like we get here at our annual BLackGold Festival... anyone like Funnel Cake? I got the recipe if ya'll want it.
