  2. I like how Deputy Barney Fife sorts mail in Mayberry North Carolina in The Andy Griffith Show. He's sitting near the trash can. He rattles off who it's for and if it's for "Occupant." He drops it in. The Fred Sanford mail sorting in Watts Los Angeles in Sanford and Son is very comical too. "Put it back in the mailbox!" I laughed so hard at this Sanford and Son scene. Lamont Sanford:"Pop, look at all these bills! Now, what are we gonna do about them?" Fred Sanford:"Well, I told you what to do with 'em. But, you wouldn't listen to me. I said-" Lamont Sanford:"Yeah, yeah, yeah! I know, "put 'em back in the mailbox!" Fred Sanford:"Well, then, why didn't you?" Lamont Sanford:"Pop, will you be serious!?" Fred Sanford:"I am bein' serious! You put 'em back in the mailbox, we never received 'em!" In our world, the real world, as tempting as Fred and Barney's methods are, they're unfortunately not an option. Because not like them, we'll go to jail.

    TV Westerns

Anybody else watch westerns regularly? I grew up watching them with my dad. I've been watching them a lot more frequently lately. Gunsmoke and The Rifleman are my favorites, but I do enjoy "Have Gun--Will Travel", "Wagon Train", Wanted: Dead or Alive", etc. There are a lot of great western streaming channels like INSP and Grit and I've found that Gunsmoke is on somewhere just about 24 hours a day. 😁

I'm not sure if we had all of those in the UK. Most of the names are familiar, but I've probably only heard of them later in life. The nearest to the genre that I remember watching were 'Champion the Wonder Horse' (aka 'The Adventures of Champion') and 'The Lone Ranger'.

  6. They definitely had great comedy back in the pre-Dukes era. My favorite was Beverly Hillbillies. Nowadays they can't even make a sitcom without most of the jokes being about sex. And late night comedians can't make a joke unless it is about politics. Pathetic stuff. Our culture has really become narrow minded.

I met one of my middle school teachers at Walmart after I'd grown up, got married etc. She said I hated school worse than any kid she ever knew!

The XXX on the moonshine jugs was one X for each time the shine had passed through the still, to purify it.

That was me, pretty much daily, no matter what the weather was. I've always been the high energy, can't sit still for long, type of person. Being "locked up" in school 8 hours a day was torture. I know exactly what those poor animals in the zoo feel like.

RIP to former F1 boss Eddie Jordan who died this morning at the age of 76. After selling his team, he later appeared as a TV pundit and also became an occasional presenter on Top Gear. Full story here and an obituary here.

  14. Instructions if you're on a laptop or desktop: If you search on Bing and you find a video that's on YouTube, in the lower right hand corner of the video (to the right of the gear), there's "YouTube". Hover over that and it says "Watch on YouTube". Click on that, it will take you to YouTube, once the video starts playing, you can either copy the URL from the browser address bar or right click on the video and click "Copy video URL". Then just past that into your comment in the forums and the video should show up.

  15. There have been studies showing that smart people prefer to watch shows with thought-provoking content. I think Scooby Doo and Dukes of Hazzard qualify, don't you?
