I know I haven't been around much lately. I've been dealing with medical issues that have become serious enough to require surgery, so I'll be away for a good part of the rest of the month recuperating. I'll be checking email occasionally after my surgery, so if there are any issues with the site or anything that needs my attention, please let me know. If new folks sign up, I'm sorry if I don't approve your messages or un-moderate your account in a timely manner. I'll get to it when I can. I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers . -Mufn

A few years ago I told my wife I wasn't going to feel old until all four of our parents died. Then we lost her mom and then my mom. Now it's my Dad. He was definitely an Uncle Jesse type....even drove a white F-150. Lived for the outdoors. He had been sick a few months and several times said he was ready to go. Tough stuff.

Garrett's Bears beat my Steelers by three points today and the Bears are having a great year. Where are you Garrett? You should be here to tease me about beating the Steelers. I looked up to see how the Bears got their name. The Cubs already existed and the Bears owner George Hallas thought football players were bigger, tougher and stronger than baseball players so went with Bears.......now known as DaBears.

I just reread the Tragedy in My Life thread that I started last summer and it reminded me how lucky I am to have found this place over 17 years ago. I thank God for my family here. When my (step) daughter helped me find Hazzardnet in March 2007 it was the first time I ever used a computer. And to this day it is the best reason computers even exist. Good luck finding a better website in the world. But this isn't about tragedy or computers. It's about love and family. I now have 15,000 posts. Yes, I am bragging. Just offering a little Uncle Jesse advice here. And a little reminder. Any time a new person joins and puts up their first post we should all respond. Even if it is with a single word "Welcome". I have been in their situation before....checked out a forum and received little response for my first post. That doesn't mean I didn't come back the next day. But it can be just enough reason to get them to stay. If they are interested in Hazzard enough to post in the first place, they just might be someone who hangs out for a long time. ❤

Oh my goodness. Garrett Duke has been an active member of HazzardNet for over 20 years now, joining Jan 24, 2004. That's 20 years and 2 days ago. Thank you so much for all your posts over these past 2 decades Garrett. But most of all thank you for being friends to all of us. You are the best of the best around this place, always friendly, funny, helpful, respectful and nice to everybody. You are irreplaceable and we are so lucky and blessed that you have been a part of our family for so long and we look forward to many more great memories being made with you. It's 3:20 AM as I type this. No sleep for me tonight. My only child was killed in a car accident just a few hours ago. This is truly the worst thing that has ever happened to me. She had just bought her first house and had only lived in it a week. She was only a few hundred feet from pulling in the driveway when a young man in a pick up truck came racing from the other direction passing 2 cars in a no passing zone and hit her head on. He wasnt hurt bad and got out of the truck before it exploded. She wasn't killed instantly but died before right after the ambulance arrived. My life has been turned upside down.

I'm starting to get concerned here. How many days has it been now? Maybe he's doing the same thing my nephew did 35 years ago, went into a tool shed to play hide and go seek without telling anybody he was playing hide and go seek and then fell asleep. I just realized something. If we don't have a moderator watching over us, we can party all we want....and even say bad words without getting in trouble. I'll start with the first bad word....revenuer.

Happy birthday to Boss JD Hogg who shares a birthday with Boss JD Hogg. It must be pretty fun to share a birthday with your favorite character. I wish my birthday was May 11 like Jesse. We appreciate all you do here Boss. You are a great ambassador to the show and an even better representative to that lovable scoundrel Boss Hogg. If you can pull yourself away from cheating widows out of their pensions, come to the Boar's Nest tonight, water down the beer and tip a glass with us....and charge us ten dollars to get out.

R. I. P. John Cotton Sr. I have just found out that John Cotton Sr. a Youngstown Ohio auto mechanic of Cotton's Garage on McGuffey RD. was robbed and killed over $20 way back in 2008. He did all the work on my dad's mom and dad's car. I know this is late. But I am just now finding out. Please pray for Cotton, his family and friends and my family and friends.

There seems to be a trend here to post stuff that is a little bit edgy. That's no surprise since the world seems to have gone crazy. Since I have been part of the problem I really am not worthy of acting like Uncle Jesse and getting everybody back it line with a gruff authoritarian voice so I won't...... but I will say this: While I may be tempted in the future to post stuff that displays my anger about insane current events I will not anymore.
