HazzardNet Announcements

News and Announcements regarding the website and forums, posted by the Admin.

  1. Started by Meadowmufn,

Someone, who shall remain nameless unless they want to reveal themselves, has graciously paid for HazzardNet's hosting this month via the Ko-Fi widget in the right sidebar. I did, however, create a new badge that I will give out to everyone who contributes. So, if you want to go poking around, you'll probably find said individual. 🤭 Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won't go into details, but the last 6 months have probably been the roughest of my life and, though I have been a little absent from the forums (though I have been working on a few things in the background), I am so grateful for all of you. I know there's always a place here I can come to get away…

  2. Those of you who haven't signed up to receive our monthly when-we-think-of-it newsletter, you missed the big news of the latest in HNet shameless promotion! T-shirts!! (See now why you should sign up for the newsletter?) Yes, folks, after 12 years, we now have t-shirts that you can buy to show your HNet pride! We couldn't decide between doing a variation on our current logo or doing a variation on our original logo for the site from 12 years ago so we did both. (Problem solved!) A multitude of styles, colors and sizes are available to choose from (men's and women's) but here's the logos on good ol' fashioned plain white Ts... The shirts are produced through Zazzle.com a…

  3. Started by Meadowmufn,

I updated the main site today and spent some time optimizing so, hopefully, the site loads faster. As I have time, I'll likely be going through and updating, adding, and deleting old stuff. As with the forums, if you run across any issues, please let me know.

  4. Hi all! My name is Dean and I'm the Sales Manager here at Nielsen Dodge in East Hanover NJ and I would like everyone to know that if you are in the area on August 17th from 2-6pm John will be here to sign autographs and interact with his fans. We will have a free BBQ and door prizes to anyone who shows up in a vintage car or Hot Rod. Come one come all! (Moderator Note: Link removed. It led to a page that required a login.) THANKS!

  5. Started by MaryAnne,

Hi folks, we're back after an unfortunate incident involving the board being hacked. Please be aware that any posts made after September 15th were lost in the recovery. Thank you for your patience and support.

  6. Started by MaryAnne,

For any y'all that by-pass the front page of the site, I recommend y'all go check out HNet's six candidates for the US Presidency and cast your vote! http://www.hazzardnet.com/

I have missed being here, but the work I have now keeps me quite busy and hardly any time for myself.... As a lot of you know, I been depressed a long time, and I bounce on and off from here to there. I am trying to get better, and to some extent , the anti depressant pills I take helps a wee bit. I still feel like a failure a lot of times, but I try to pass by that. It was so great to be talking to Roger again, but I was sad to hear he would need heart bypass, that is scary, so I dedicate this topic to him, the more prayers to a successful operation the better. He is one of the best you know, and I have met some really wonderful people on here, so I can't wait to be tal…

  9. Started by MaryAnne,

Howdy y'all! Well I dunno about y'all but I'm tired of seein' that the most users ever on HNet was 35, set back in February of 2005. So I'm issuing a challenge to all our users out there! Every night this week I wanna see as many users as possible here at HNet. I know most of you visit the place in the evening hours so I'm gonna set the time between 7 and 11 pm. Now, obiviously I don't expect all of ya to hang around for 4 hours to add to the numbers but...you're welcome to. LOL. Actually, you don't even have to post anything, just be at the forums page. You could have HNet open in another browser while you continue doing yer thing. Okay, I'm probably asking too much b…

  10. Started by Meadowmufn,

I just realized that I have 999 posts and decided to mark the milestone with a special 1000th post. Now, I know many of you folks have more posts than me. The ol' Meadowmufn has been pretty busy and hasn't been able to keep up with a lot of you younguns (and a few olduns). LOL. I wanted to use this post to sincerely thank all of HazzardNet's wonderful members that have made this website home and have helped me, Brian, and MaryAnne build HNet into a thriving Dukes of Hazzard community. Y'all are like a second family... kinda dysfunctional, but family nonetheless. It's hard to believe I created my first Dukes of Hazzard website over 12 years ago. That website evolved into…

ive got a new dukes of hazzard website if ya'll wanna join it you can the link is in my signature and here..... http://bolukeduke7985.proboards83.com/ its still undergoing a few changes as of right now.

  12. Started by RogerDuke,

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting a little depressed that the HazzardNet seems to be past its prime. I know we've had ups and downs here but this downturn in posts seems to be a little more serious than the down cycles we've had in the past. Don't get me wrong, there's still some great things going on here, like Roth and Hoss's behind the scenes thread and Garrett's very active NASCAR threads but overall this place has gotten slower than a snail running on fumes and two flat tires in molasses. We need to find a way to do something about it. Let's use this thread to kick around some ideas. My first idea is to revive the trivia thread so that's what I'm g…

  13. Started by Meadowmufn,

Hey y'all, there are some new features with the latest version of the forum software AND there will be even more features coming with version 5. I thought I'd open a topic to highlight some of them. In the very right of the forum menu, you'll see a new link for Clubs. Registered members who are no longer on probation (we moderate a number of posts before you get off probation in order to keep the spamming to a minimum) can create their own clubs and invite members to join. Keep it family friendly, of course. Let me know what you all think of the new feature. As I find out what's in the next upgrade, I'll post more about it here.

  14. We've just upgraded to a new version of the forums and it includes some great new social features. You can check out all the new features in the FAQ, here: http://www.hazzardnet.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_faq#faq_vb3_board_usage In addition, to combat spammers, we've set up new user groups. For the first 10 days to 30 days and 5 or more posts, users will have limited permissions. They cannot have an avatar, signature, or PM privileges. However, if you are honestly participating in the forum, please feel free to PM or email us and request that we promote you and give you regular permissions.

  15. Started by Meadowmufn,

Once you've had a chance to look around the new forums, please leave feedback here. I've already gotten some feedback and am trying some small changes here and there as well as finishing up the customization of the theme. Also, if you find any bugs or issues with color (I already know about the white background on quoted text), please post about that here as well.

  16. Started by HazzardNetAdmin,

We have updated the forums to new software. We've imported the old forums, but you'll all need to recreate your avatars. There was some sort of glitch with that operation. Sorry for any inconvenience. We hope you enjoy the new functionality! Please let us know if you encounter any problems with the new system.

  17. Started by Meadowmufn,

By the power vested in me as the owner of HazzardNet, I hereby declare HossC as the newest moderator of our forums. Many of you know he's a long time veteran of HazzardNet and has been keeping a keen eye on the forums in my absence, so I figured we'd make it official and give him moderator superpowers to toss any spammers and riff-raff in the hoosegow.

  18. Started by Meadowmufn,

HazzardNet is up and running on a new server now. Thanks for your patience. If you happen to come upon any bugs on the site, please let us know so we can fix 'em. -Mufn

  19. Started by Meadowmufn,

We're trying out something new here at HazzardNet. A little toolbar should show up at the bottom of your browser that allows you share HazzardNet on social networks, check out our YouTube gallery, translate the site to other languages, and chat with other folks currently on the site. There are no downloads or any changes to your browser. It's all in the website code. Please give us feedback on it. Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you like it, but with there were some changes? Post your feedback in this thread!

If any of you are signed up for the newsletter, you've probably got an email a few days ago stating that I'm going to attempt to revive it. Probably on a monthly basis for now, maybe every other month, depending on how I'm doing. That said, if any of you have ideas for the newsletter, feel free to share them here or in PM. I've already gotten a kind offer from Mark B to provide some content (thanks!).

  22. It's that time of year, when stuff starts to fly south. Like, our server. If you've experienced slow loading times on any of our pages, we apologize. We've been aware of the issue and are taking steps to resolve it. We have a server migration scheduled for this weekend. It's possible that there may be some temporary downtime of HazzardNet in the process. Hang in there, and we'll have all the scuffs and dents hammered out before ya know it. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

  23. Started by DoubleShot,

Hey all, Pat Tomlin who might be known by those who are fans of Tom Wopat's passed away last year and I was asked to post this on here so you all could go and send your regards or leave a flower for her. Hope this is appreciated. 24. Started by Meadowmufn,

My webhost informs me that HazzardNet is being migrated to a brand spankin' new server. (I hope that means faster performance and less issues!) Sometime in the next 48 hours, there might be slight downtime as they transition over.

  25. Howdy! HazzardNet is enjoying some great new people as we continue to grow. But with that, every now and then, comes the occassional stray bullet that's out to cause trouble. If y'all see any posts that are obnoxious and inflammatory - don't panic. Most of all - don't react and take the bait. Report it to us via a Pirvate Message or email and we'll take care of it. Without attention and reaction, the disruptive types eventually get bored and wander off, looking for other message boards to annoy. Thanks to all of you who reported past problems, and help keep an eye on the place. Much appreciated! Brian
