February 17, 20251 yr It was fun whole it lasted. You just don't see an 01 leading a race very often....at any level, especially NASCAR. The video from the car behind Ryan Preece when he crashed was pretty scary stuff. So awesome to see him being interviewed later. The safety of those cars is out of this world.

Yeah that was crazy, that was such a once in a billion fluke how it got airborne. It's funny I read on the NASCAR subreddit someone commented every Daytona 500 they've been to a driver named Ryan had flipped, and they apologized to the 2 Ryan's in the race because he was were there lol.

Oh OK. I wasn't sure what you were referring to. It was cool that William Byron was able to win the Daytona 500 back to back. I heard Rick Hendrick took the winning car back to Charlotte. February 24, 20251 yr Author Well they raced at the Duke Boys' home NASCAR track (as well as Chase Elliott's) in Atlanta. The first half was pretty uneventful, but the second half produced more accidents and shuffling of the field. I was able to watch it due to moving stuff away from my antennae, but that probably jinxed Chase Elliott as he got wrecked out as Ricky Stenhouse Jr went up the track and ran him into the wall and in turn took out Brad Keselowski. Elliott was able to stay in the race and finished in the back on the lead lap. Christopher Bell won in overtime after an accident halted the race. Just beating out Kyle Larson and Carson Hocevar. There's some discussion about the new road-going Charger and possible gas engines in a recent Doug DeMuro podcast. It's a good looking car with styling cues from the '60s Chargers. One of the publicity shots shows the new car in orange, but sadly it's the 4-door version. I'm sure it won't be long before someone slaps an 01 on the side of a 2-door.
March 5, 20251 yr We're still just over a week away from the start of the 2025 F1 season, but Formula 1's YouTube channel has just posted highlights of five season-opening races going back over more than 20 years. It's amazing how the cars have changed during this time, e.g. in 2013 the cars had really ugly high noses, and in 2009 the cars had really wide front wings. There are several drivers in the video that I'd forgotten, and even a couple of teams! You can watch it here.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mecedes' George Russell were just behind. Neither Max's or George's new team mates made the top ten. Yuki Tsunoda and Alex Albon both had a great qualifying to start ahead of the two Ferraris. If two of the teams seem to have very similar names, it's because they do. Red Bull have run two teams for years, and while the first team is always Red Bull Racing, the second team's name changes almost annually. This year it's Racing Bulls.
