HossC Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Apologies for posting out of turn, but I posted a song within the last 2 weeks by Gerry Rafferty, and it was announced last night that, after a long illness, Gerry had passed away at the age of 63.He had most of his success in the late '70s, and is probably best remembered (at least this side of the Atlantic) for the anthemic hit . Other hits included , Right Down The Line, and (the video on this one is a slide show of old pictures of Dublin). His band, Stealers Wheel, also recorded the song that was used in the iconic warehouse scene in 'Reservoir Dogs'.RIP Gerry (16 April 1947 – 4 January 2011). Quote
HossC Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Some ambient house from the early '90s. Quote
Garrett Duke Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 AJ is one of my favorite Country artist...despite all the new Country that is sung around him on the radio, he remains true to Country Music and to his own music. Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the new Country that is out there like Kenny and Keith and Tim, but it is also refreshing to still hear Alan's original country being played on the radio. Quote
HossC Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 There was an obvious track by Thurston Harris that I could have replied with, but this came on my MP3 player earlier. It's a folk version of the old nursery rhyme/lullaby from the late '80s. Quote
Garrett Duke Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 "Baby's got her Bllue Jeans On" Mel McDanielThis was my first favorite song and after all these years...still love this song! Great song! Quote

MaryAnne Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 - Henry Mancini(as this video atests, this song was written for the "The Glenn Miller Story" movie back in the 50's. The ironic thing to note is that when Glenn Miller was putting together his AAF/AEF band after he joined the Army Air Corps during WWII, there was a 19 year old piano player who didn't make the cut. That piano player was Henry Mancini). Quote
HossC Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 We Have All the Time in the World - Louis ArmstrongWritten by John Barry and Hal David, this song will always remind me of the sad ending to the James Bond movie 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and the beautiful Diana Rigg - still brings a tear to my eye . Garrett Duke Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I remember watching this for the first time at the ACM or CMA's or some sort of award show...if I remember right, it was November. What a sad and true song. Great way of expressing the feelings and emotions that followed 9/11. Quote
HossC Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (live)Thought I'd throw in some country for a change . Quote

Well I guess I can't win 'em all...huh? At least you are starting to like AJ. If I hadn't liked NKOTB when I was younger, I probably wouldn't have given them a second thought. But I did and will be seeing them in concert for the sixth time in June. Besides, you can't go wrong with ol' AJ...him and Bo seem to have a few things in common. Both are from Georgia, both love cars, both have blond hair and blue eyes, and both are 6'4". Quote
HossC Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Neil Diamond's 1968 song was covered a year later by Tony Tribe, but the best known version is probably that of which topped the UK charts in 1983 and made it to #34 in the US charts in 1984 before finally topping the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988.
