After crossing the creek and walking through the woods about 30 minutes at a slow pace, Jesse made it to a clearing on the south end of the back 40. Here he found another spot he loved almost as much as the last. Here, he had a high scenic view of the farm at a distance and could see most of their crops. While the spot he left the boys at was his favorite sentimental spot, this was his favorite thinking spot. The first thing he did was remove his red hat and say a prayer. He then took his seat on a smooth rock....the same rock he had sat on thousands of times....the same rock his parents took their young toddler to for his first picnic.

Luke just looked at Bo a moment, already knowing what he was thinking just from the flicker in his eyes and the slight shift he made with his body. "Money ain't the issue Bo...not as far as the farm goes...a job...well...it'd be just putting a bandaid on an open wound..." He hadn't meant to make Bo worry about the money with the gift- he really hadn't. He just wanted Bo to have a nice birthday...and maybe get a chance to do what he always wanted to do... and that was worth more to Luke than what he had hocked to get it.

Jesse sat for awhile pondering the future. Boss had tried lots of tricks to get the farm in the past but eminent domain was a new one. Normally it something that is used to take a private citizens property so the government could build roads and other public things but since the Supreme Court extended it for the government to take the land and sell to private industry, this gave Boss a new tool to make his dream come true. Jesse wasn't exactly sure what the second half of that dream was but the first half involved getting the farm. Jesse felt helpless as a warm breeze carressed his wrinkled face.

Luke sighed wishing with all his might that he had the answer that he knew Bo expected him to have. But he didn't. Eminent Domain was something that even Luke was unprepared for. Sure Boss was a swindler...everyone knew that...but to bring in the government... taking over the farm was certainly more than just a means to get the Dukes out of Hazzard...Boss had to have an alterior motive...the question was what...and what would they do about it?

(this aint gonna be the only rp on here :) you can blag rosco for the next one :) )

Bo sighed and ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head softly as he looked up at the blue sky above him. Swallowing softly, the same questions that he knew had to be running through Luke's head was running through his. Biting his lip he looked back down at the ground.

"It can't be real Luke...those papers just can't be...Boss has got t'have some stupid scheme up his sleeve...the government wouldn't make someone homeless that don't deserve it just like that....would they..."

Bo asked, uncertain as of the answer and a little afraid to hear it. He wasn't sure if it was true or just his hopeful naivity coming into play. All he knew was that the home he had had all his life was about to be lost for good unless him and Luke could do something, anything to get it out of Boss's fat, greasy hands.

Luke sighed heavily turning Bo to look at him again. "I know Bo...I feel the same way....but..." He actually felt the same things Bo did, but for different reasons. For Luke, the farm was not only his home, it was his destiny. Luke would be the future patriarch, taking over the farm when Jesse could no longer manage it. If the farm was destroyed, not only would thir home be destroyed, but Luke's future as well. Yet, at the same time, having had experienced death...war...many things Bo had been sheltered from as it were, Luke also knew that, much as he loved the farm and the General, they came second to him after family. Bo and Luke were different that way. Bo had never had the opportunity to prioritize his life...Luke had.

Bo couldn't look up at Luke, not when he heard what Luke was insinuating. IN reality, neither boy could see a way out of the death grip Boss had on the farm and yet Bo wasn't willing to give up that eaisly...it seemed like Luke was.

He knew that while Luke had been away in the war, it had given Luke a new perspective on life and the important things it contained. It gave Luke a view that Bo could never see unless something that drastic happened to him...but at the same time Luke had lost the ability to feel compassion and the other emotions Bo was feeling about the place.

*hesitates a little...thinking about it he didn't know whether he wanted to or not...if they looked and they were fake then there was the happy chance they could do something about it...however if they were real...it seemed to just seal the fate of the farm for good...at least without looking there was some small glimmer of hope left*
