January 4, 200818 yr Luke looked at him in mock hurt for a moment, before replying "Oh real cute, Bo." Shaking his had he added, "You know there's a reason feedin' Maudine was always my job. Jesse was afraid she'd mistake you for her hay."
January 4, 200818 yr Author Bo shrugged, ruffling a hair through his blonde curls. "That did me a favour, got me out of mucking out Maudine's stall for years."
January 4, 200818 yr Luke pretended to take a whiff of him. "Coulda fooled me...ya smell like ya live in there with her..." he teased, a half-grin on his face.
January 4, 200818 yr Author "S'only because I's been hangin' round with you...your smell rubs off on me..."replies with a smirk of his own.
January 4, 200818 yr "Well Auntie always did say we was two peas in a pod...must be why I got in trouble so much...learned it from you," he said snickering.
January 4, 200818 yr Author "You know Luke its a bit pathetic you learn things off yer younger sibling..." Bo replied back.
January 4, 200818 yr Author Bo smiled, ruffling Luke's hair with a chuckle."I'm gonna get a drink...you want one?"
January 4, 200818 yr Author Bo nodded with a smile and headed inside the house, opening the fridge door and getting out the jug of lemonade that he knew Daisy had put in there earlier.
January 4, 200818 yr Luke leaned on the fence overlooking the farm. He wasn't the most emotional cousin by any means. In fact, Bo used to tell him he had about the sensitivity of a telephone pole. But sometimes, like now, he really felt close to Bo. A slight smile crossed his face as he thought of his baby cousin. Bo had always been there...in truth, Bo knew Luke better than Luke knew himself sometimes. He didn't always take the time to reflect on how lucky he was but now...now he just thanked his lucky stars that he was where he was and had the family that he did.
January 4, 200818 yr Author Bo got down two glasses and poured out the lemonade, before retuning the jug to the fridge. Carefully he walked back outside to Luke and handed him one."Here ya go.."
January 4, 200818 yr Luke smiled as he took it. "Thanks buddy." He took a long drink. "No one makes lemonade like Daisy does.." he commented.
January 4, 200818 yr Author Bo nodded his agreement as he took a long drink from his glass too, drinking half of it before he stopped, sitting down by the fence and stretching his long legs out in front of him as he unsnapped his shirt. It felt to claustaphobic to be buttoned into a shirt in summer when there was a nice summer breeze blowing.
January 4, 200818 yr Luke looked at him. That ain't a half bad idea..." he said before doing the same stretching out his leg as well. "Been a long time since we just sat ain't it?" he observed.
January 5, 200818 yr Author Bo nodded with a chuckle."S'long overdue cousin...if it ain't the chores, the General, or a race keepin' us busy its Boss and Rosco...gotta take these oppertunites when they arise for some peace an' quiet..."
January 5, 200818 yr "You got that right," said Luke thoughtfully. "S'been a long time since we just sat and talked...like we used to.... without runnin from Rosco at the time anyway"
January 5, 200818 yr Luke drank his lemonade slowly before looking to him thoughtfully. "I'm really glad you're my cousin Bo..." he said after a pause.
January 5, 200818 yr Author Bo looked back at Luke, getting more and more used to Luke's random outbursts as the conversation went along, smiling and nodding."I'm glad your my cousin too...and...even though it cost us our parents an' everything...i'm kinda...glad that it brought us together..."
January 5, 200818 yr Author Bo nodded, glad that Luke hadn;t taken that the wrong way. He had always hated what had happened to their parents, but at the same time he couldn't help but wonder sometimes what would have happened if they had survived. Would he and Luke have been as close? Would they have seen each other frequently or only at family reunions. He couldn't imagine a life without Luke and sometimes was kinda glad that that hadn't come to pass.
January 5, 200818 yr Luke nodded seeming to read Bo's thoughts. "I can't imagine what it'd be like without you..." he didn't know what was causing him to be so transparent right now...maybe it was the quiet soothing sounds of the farm...maybe it was that he was feeling a bit sentimental after looking through his Marine yearbooks teh night before...maybe it was just the one on one time with Bo that he'd been missing more than he let on- he didn't know...and he figured it didn't matter really...what mattered was that Bo knew.
January 6, 200818 yr Author Bo shook his head softly."I know what its like without you..."He said softly
January 6, 200818 yr Luke looked at him slowly, trying to read the unspoken words behnd the face he knew so well.
