That is really annoying and so is when people call it "The Dukes of Hazzards." Ugh, makes my stomach turn. Do they think the Dukes are from two different counties of the same name?

I hate that too when it's also done with The Andy Griffith Show. People say "The Andy Griffin Show" when mentioning the show or "Andy Griffin" when talking about him.

What year though and how long did it last? Was Andy the only one who left? Just not getting enough money or was it something else?

He stayed. He married Helen in its first episode. Maybe he left later into it. I haven't seen R. F. D. Just the final T. A. G. S. episode of the same name that introduced it. The spinoff starts with Ken Barry(Sam Jones) having the Vinchetti family his friend Mario, Mario's sister Sophia and their dad from Italy help work his farm.

'The Andy Griffith Show' ran for 249 episodes/8 seasons from 1960 to 1968. From what I've read, Andy decided to leave the show to pursue a movie career and other projects. 'Mayberry R.F.D.' was a spin-off/continuation of 'The Andy Griffith Show' that still had many of the same characters. It ran for 78 episodes/3 seasons from 1968 to 1971 - Andy Griffith appeared in 6 episodes.

'Mayberry R.F.D.' was cancelled as part of CBS' "rural purge" where they wanted to make more politically correct shows targeted at a younger, more urban audience. Other victims of the purge were 'The Beverly Hillbillies', 'Petticoat Junction' and 'Green Acres'. A network cancelling a popular rural-based TV show, now that sounds familiar...
