well, cousins, right now I'm watching you know  what and having a few AB's. I just watched Bad Day In Hazzard and I'm about to watch  Miss Tri-Counties! I hope every one is doing well! 9/2 is coming fast and I'm counting down!  Doctor gave me specific instructions, no beer or cold drinks 3 days before surgery!   So Friday  ( DOHD) is my last party day until after surgery and probably until somewhere  around November!

I just thought of something last week.....ever notice the theme song?  Do you ever start the DVD and then go do something while it's playing ( I take my medicine before bed)  and I NEVER get tired of hearing it, even when it plays  over and over. It's like the episodes themselves.....there's no point of exhaustion! You can listen and watch over and over and over! What other show, band, etc. can you name like that???!!!

For me, 'sides Dukes, Gilligan's Island, The Andy Griffith Show, Starsky & Hutch, Knight Rider, Gomer Pyle U. S. M. C., Mayberry R. F. D., Sanford and Son.

Relaxing now after getting home from Northern Virginia. It's 300 miles one way, much of it is on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. People are idiots. I get that I am getting older and lost my daughter to a careless driver 2 years ago but there is more to it than that.

Just about every time you see somebody crossing the line they are doing so because the life of the person they are cutting off has less value to them than their text or fantasy football team. We have reached a point where an electronic device matters more than a life.

And when you point this out to idiots you know who text and drive the person just says "Well, maybe they were texting a person who was having a medical emergency or maybe their child was in danger". There is a chance in a billion it was something like that.

Like Billy Currington sings "God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy."

All this is true but what it is, is an under development of the Psyche.  You know, when you're a kid and you do crazy stuff and then get older and learn to drive and you drive crazy....nothing's going to happen!  That happens to other people! ( You ARE other people!)  Hey! It's never happened before! I know what I'm doing! It's an adolescent  sense of invulnerability  Then most people ( SOME people??) as they mature and their brain develops, learn that yes, they to can die and no it's not just other people!

5/15/82!  I was a junior in high school, passenger in my friend's car  and he was flying and we hit a phone pole. I was in a coma for a week and in the hospital for a month. Some people never fully develop mentally.

What I'm doing right now, is thinking about how comforting it is to be in Hazzard, or to watch the show. When you run in to a stressful situation, you just, " Head to Hazzard" . You can literally, both while the shows are playing or sitting practically anywhere,  get lost in Hazzard, in a much simpler,  more relaxing world, where you know everybody and everybody knows you and they all share your opinion on stuff and your view on life! It even helps you sleep. I just close my eyes and think about an episode or make up an episode in my head! Then it's off to La La  land until next morning.

Hey, We've even discussed other plot episodes etc. on here before!  Or what would this character  do in this situation, etc. When you can lose yourself in this world and all its infinite possibilities, it makes life easier and more comfortable, enjoyable etc.  :)

I don't do many long journeys, but luckily I don't recall seeing anyone doing that on my recent trip to Galway, although I'm sure it happens regularly over here.

Maybe I'm imagining it, but people here seem to drive much more hesitantly lately. I thought it could be the reduced driving during the Covid lockdowns, but that was a while ago now. Sometimes I approach a junction thinking I'll easily get out because there's a huge gap, but the car in front stops dead and waits for nothing. Then there are the drivers who drive at well under the speed limit completely oblivious to the long queue behind them. That's my two cents.
