  1. I'd never heard of that song, so I Googled it. The song you mentioned is 'When You're Ugly Like Us' which was a 1980 hit for George Jones and Hazzard celebrity speedtrap's own Johnny Paycheck. I can't find any mention of freight trains or dirt roads in the lyrics. There is a 1994 song called 'She Could Make a Freight Train Take a Dirt Road' sung by Davis Daniel. When You're Ugly Like Us lyrics. on YouTube.
  2. Something a bit different this time. This is the address label that Bo and Luke discover on the stolen auto parts in 'Cooter's Confession': The label only appears to contain destination information and places Hazzard in Georgia, but if that's a zip code (00965) it would be Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
  3. This is a Ben Jones quote rather than Cooter. In the season 6 DVD extra 'Back Where We Started: The Real Hazzard County' Ben and Sonny are reminiscing about the first time they saw Cathy. Ben says 'I tell you ... first time ... I said that girl'd make a bulldog break its chain, make a freight train go up a dirt road, make the deacon drop his bible.' It was great seeing how they still got on so well after 27 years.
  4. Just heard this one in 'Cooter's Confession'. Boss wants Rosco to tail the Dukes, and asks 'You think you can do that?'. Rosco replies: 'Surveillance, oh I can handle surveillance. Listen, I was really good in surveillance when I was in the police academy. That was my best subject ... next to recess'.
  5. Here's BoJames's answers to yesterday's anagrams: Naked Guacamole - Along Came A Duke Daddy's Swishing Tongue - Daisy’s Shotgun Wedding Dad Terrifies Hunter, Roger - Return Of The Ridge Raiders My Tough Seahorse Grafters – The Treasure Of Soggy Marsh A Diaper Rots - Road Pirates Broaden A Mindset - One Armed Bandits Navy Decals – Vance’s Lady Poshest Counterfeiter Wins - Witness For The Persecution Not Hogg's Ethereal Feel - The Ghost Of General Lee Probate Control - Robot P. Coltrane Here's a new set for today: Minimises Loosing I Anger Nanny Loosen Turbine Laywomen Conning Jewels Fay: Leather Woman Smokey Bear Raced Huge Lout Lesser Truth Zodiac Ranch, Not Zen Grandsons Mix Soil A Storm Soon, Coy
  6. Well done Roger - I thought Jesse's Mustang might be a bit tricky - you're obviously more of a car guy than you let on. BoJames, you were right about Daisy's Jeep and the same plate was also used on her Road Runner before that. So the answers are: A) FCH 630 = Daisy's Jeep named Dixie or her Road Runner 83522 = Patrol car primarily driven by Rosco C) CL 7634 = Uncle Jesse's pickup D) CK 8229 = Amy's Mustang named Lucifer E) SNP 650 = Jesse's Mustang named Black Tillie II? F) ZAB 749 = Cale Yarborough's White Charger G) C8P 397 = Mason Dixon's Firebird Did anyone notice the gaffer tape covering the Trans-Am decals on the Firebird? I'll stick with cars this time: Q. Besides Lucifer, can you name another car that had #13 on the doors - it was in season 7.
  7. Did you ever watch the 'making of' feature from the DVD extras on Tron?. They had to calculate the 3D positions plus pitch, yaw and roll by hand, then manually enter them so the computer could render them frame by frame. I found a clip of it on YouTube: Ahh ... 1982.
  8. Wow - is this a case of great minds thinking alike? - probably not . I think your instructions are pretty much the same as the first link I posted.
  9. I have to agree, there's not a lot out there for Mac or PC. The only PC one I found was 10 years old. The best I can suggest is to make your own slideshow: http://www.ehow.com/how_5794442_make-show-screensaver-macbook-pro.html You just need to find some pictures to use. If you want to do screengrabs from your DVDs there's some tips here: http://www.macyourself.com/2009/05/16/how-to-take-screenshots-in-mac-os-xs-dvd-player-application/ I even had to use a picture from the 2005 movie for my custom Firefox persona. I just wanted a simple picture of the General without much in the background - see what you think: At least there's no reference to Sean William Scott, Johnny Knoxville or Jessica Simpson.
  10. This is slightly embarrassing - it appears I can't read my own writing. There are 2 small typos in this question: D) CK 8228 should be CK 8229 G) CBP 397 should be C8P 397 To make up for them I've made some picture clues: Hope everyone gets them now.
  11. Here's another British view of American cars from Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson. This one is from his mid 90s series Motorworld: I wish the commenters on YouTube had a sense of humor - while America was making these cars the British car industry produced some absolute rubbish in the brief periods when they weren't on strike .
  12. Thanks for the PM with the answers - right as usual. Now we'll see if anyone else tries. I was hoping the inclusion of 'Hogg' in the penultimate one might throw you.
  13. You're just too good at these BoJames. This time I checked you weren't looking over my shoulder while I was posting . If you're doing these in your head or on paper I think you should apply to go on Countdown (for members in the US and elsewhere, Countdown is a TV quiz involving words and math). Here's the new ones: Naked Guacamole Daddy's Swishing Tongue Dad Terrifies Hunter, Roger My Tough Seahorse Grafters A Diaper Rots Broaden A Mindset Navy Decals Poshest Counterfeiter Wins Not Hogg's Ethereal Feel Probate Control BoJames - If you get these as quickly, maybe you could just post to let me know you got them all right. That way other people get a chance to have a go. One day I hope to catch you out again like I did with Buster Moon. If they're not solved in 24 hours post away with the answers - it'll save me a job .
  14. I deliberately made the last 4 harder because y'all were getting them too easily. All of the last ones only appeared in one episode each, but they were memorable/featured cars - 2 of them even had names. I'll give some clues if you're still struggling.
  15. How times change. I did computer graphics on my course, and it didn't get more exciting than palette swapping and XOr putting. Then again my 486 DX 33 was faster than the 386s that my college had, and we were writing in TurboPascal. I also had an enormous 105Mb HDD and upgraded to 8Mb RAM at a price that would make your eyes water .
  16. I just watched the 'making of' video. It's amazing how much time goes into a short film. Thanks for posting it.
  17. I've seen the cars with their rain covers on. What happens if it gets rained out 'til Monday - do you get refunds?. What does a ticket cost in the first place?.
  18. Sorry Roger - BL and BoJames got it right. It was: C) Terry Labonte Next one: Q. Hopefully everyone knows who drives the car with the license plate 'CNH 320', but who drives the cars with the following license plates (I'm looking for the main driver(s), and if the car has a name you can give that too). A) FCH 630 83522 C) CL 7634 D) CK 8228 E) SNP 650 F) ZAB 749 G) CBP 397
  19. 24 hours later than planned - here's the next set of anagrams. This time all the answers are episode titles. I managed to find reasonable anagrams for about 80% of the episodes, although some have several different ones. I'll post them 10 at a time in a random order. I'm relying on BoJames to check my spelling . Knuckleheads Ruined Intro A Beleaguered Musky Cohort Grocer Toils A Skinhead Rehearsal Idly Abuse Kidney A Spattering Thighbone Sonnet Echoing Hat Chose Epic Pole Highest Bite Unsolved Racket
  20. Good to see some of the colonies still know what's good for them .
  21. Except Double Zero (allegedly) .
  22. Glad to have you along Pendragon. Maybe this Chance Walker of yours is 'a lawn checker'. Certainly I know he has a 'clean whacker'. Probably best not to look too deeply into that one either .
  23. It's easy to forget how technology moves on. The General has a big engine, but also a lot of weight to carry. The test was round a short twisty circuit which, let's face it, is not what Chargers were designed for. Up until recently it has been a running joke this side of the Atlantic that US car designers have never seen road that isn't straight. . I think I felt the same as you when Top Gear put another of my favorite cars, an Aston Martin DB5 (the James Bond car from Goldfinger) round their track. It looked good standing still, but wallowed through the corners, and was pretty slow. The same episode also had a similar age Jaguar E-Type (XK-E). The Jaguar looked stock, but had new suspension and electrics. It performed like you expected it to when you were a little boy . In another episode of Top Gear the 3 presenters had to buy 70s Italian supercars for under £10,000. They had a Maserati, a Ferrari and a Lamborghini (admittedly all had seen better days). They were all beaten on a lap by a diesel-engined Vauxhall (Saturn) Astra.
  24. Sounds like something just clicked into place there, I did double-check it when you were struggling - well done. I'm working on anagrams of episode titles at the moment and may have the first ones up later today. Here's 2 more characters to keep you busy 'til then. A Guarded Rebuke Facecloth For Prisoners (Clue: one of these has appeared already).
