RogerDuke reacted to HossC in NASCAR news
Thanks, Garrett. I hope you get time to watch the highlights videos that I link to. They're only about 8 minutes long, and probably make a lot more sense than my reviews.
That's good news that Chase Elliot got a win at the weekend.

Oooo I'll have to push play. I bet they are great too.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Garrett Duke in NASCAR news
The races are so long and there is always so much to do I usually only watch highlights. Depending on what I am doing I usually keep an eye on sporting events on TV and just watch the end of them live. Except for pro dirt bikes. Can't get enough of those. I'd love to see Miz Tisdale race those guys. She'd make them look like snails with racing decals.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Arrest Meadowmufn again!
Gotta admit I made the same mistake when I first rolled into town.
After spending a few days in solitary confinement I never made that mistake again.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Hobie Hartkins in BEER
I'm not sure what the alcohol content is of my favorite drink is but it must be pretty high. I put a quart of vinegar, a quart of buttermilk, a quart of apple cider, and a quart of strawberry ice cream soup in a glass jug, shake it up good, put it on the porch in the sun for 3 months. And it's cool to watch. The color of it changes 5 times in those 3 months. I'll bring some to the Moonshine 400 for you folks to sample. I'm going to be competing with Hobie's Finest.
BTW, ice cream soup is from Pee Wee Herman. It's melted ice cream. It's easy to make. Here's the recipe. 1) Take ice cream out of freezer. 2) Put in big bowl 3) Add no other ingredients 4) Wait until ice cream melts.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Hobie Hartkins in The MoonShine 400 !!
While Garrett and Hobie are fighting it out, nobody is even paying attention to Roger in his souped up white F-150. He's been saving up his nitrous oxide for this moment.
He flips the toggle switch and his back gets pushed hard into the seat. The same happens to his head. But something goes wrong. It's too much power. The front wheels are lifted off the road. This might not end well for Roger.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Justin in RIP Rick Hurst
I take these things very hard since Dukes have been a big part of my life when they debuted in 1979 and these actors are truly family. I'm grateful for the HazzardNet because you folks can relate to the pain I'm feeling now. My condolences to all of you.
There is a happy reunion in Hazzard Heaven today between Boss, Rosco and Cletus. But there are plenty of tears on Earth for those of us who loved Cletus/Rick.
I just checked the family section in my notebook and there is not a whole lot of his family mentioned, except Boss of course.
He made his first appearance in season 1 where he was called Boss's cousin.
Cletus mentioned his Mama in season 2.
He is called Boss's third cousin twice removed in season 3.
Cletus mentions his Mama again in season 4.

So as to not take away from Rick's thread, I have moved all the Lalo posts and we can continue discussion of him here:

When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site.
When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.

RogerDuke reacted to Meadowmufn in Lalo Schifrin Dies at 93
Since Rick and Lalo passed on the same day and you folks liked to talk about it, I didn't want Rick's thread to get overrun, so I'm starting this one. Post your favorite Lalo Schifrin music here.
Mission: Impossible theme is probably the most memorable of them all. I have the entire soundtrack from the show.

I don't know Mannix at all. It looks like it was eventually shown in the UK in 1971, but I don't remember ever seeing it in the TV listings, and it's never had a region 2 DVD release.
I mentioned 'Dirty Harry' above, but Lalo Schifrin also composed the score for another Clint Eastwood movie, 'Coogan's Bluff'. Anyone who's seen the movie will remember the club scene with Lalo's great parody of late-60's music - 'The Pigeon Toed Orange Peel'.

My favorite Lalo Schifrin TV theme is Mannix.

RogerDuke reacted to HossC in Lalo Schifrin Dies at 93
You're half right. Lalo Schifrin composed the theme music for season 1 of Starsky and Hutch.
The more familiar 'Gotcha' theme used for season 2 was written by Tom Scott. A reworked version was also used on season 4. The video below is a cool cover by British jazz funk group the James Taylor Quartet.
The season 3 theme was written by Mark Snow.
All three of these composers also scored several episode, as did Alan Silvestri who wrote a lot of the music for 'CHiPs' (and many movies including 'Back to the Future').

Yes, unfortunately it's true. Cooter's Place confirmed it on their Facebook page. He was scheduled for appearances. Yesterday, they said the appearances would need to be rescheduled. Today, they posted the news of his passing.

Is it true… I’m reading online that actor Rick Hurst (Cletus Hogg) has passed away? If so this is a tragic day!!

Dukes of Hazzard fans... I bring y'all sad news. Rick Hurst (Deputy Cletus Hogg) has passed away. 😢

RogerDuke reacted to HossC in RIP Rick Hurst
Very sad to read this news this morning. As well as Dukes, I also remember Rick playing a phoney lawyer in 'M*A*S*H' who told Klinger he could get him out of the army. Until I looked up his filmography, I'd forgotten about his appearances in 'CHiPs' and 'Earth Girls Are Easy' - I might have to check them out later.
I also read this morning that composer Lalo Schifrin has died at the age of 93. 'Mission Impossible' composer seems to be the headlines, but I remember him better for the soundtracks of 'Dirty Harry' and 'Bullitt'.
