DOH - Return Of The General Lee
GENERAL CHARGER replied to Capt_Redneck's topic in Games General Discussion
Don't much remember the old games (in fact I still need to finish part 2) but it's sad when the best car in the game is Cooter's Truck. -
Dukes of Hazzard - The Beginning Release Date
GENERAL CHARGER replied to MaryAnne's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Based on what I know so far, sounds like another Dukes in Name Only deal to me. I'll buy it from Half.com when it's like $3 if it never gets on TV somewhere. -
Game's been out almost 3 years now, so the newness of it has long since passed away from discussion and it's doubtful anyone still really needs help. So what's that leave to discuss? Well, inspired by a couple posts in here I found something: the hardest level. What level in the game was your albatross? What took you several thousand tries to finally beat? What got you sounding more like the movie Dukes than the TV Dukes? For me, it'd be the Runaway Daisy level, with the follow that car levels tied for second. Progressively I learned how to get to the canyon road faster and faster, but I could never keep enough stability or boost to chase Daisy and ram her car into submission. The few times I actually managed to catch up to her, the damn curves would throw the General into a tailspin (the only car I know that handles WORSE on pavement than dirt). The only way I finally beat it was I was finally able to pull alongside Daisy before the curves started and force her into the mountains on the side, stopping her. The chase scenes, well, you never know how close is too close and how far is too far and seemed like a lotta stuck gas pedals in Hazzard...

DOH - Return Of The General Lee

That last bit sounds more like movie continuity than the show, and that's a big hell no. I've always lobbied for a GTA-style Dukes game; character missions as well as in the car. Also you can take other cars around Hazzard as they frequently borrowed them. Some fights at the Boar's Nest, knocking out bad guys after the General pulls them over, bow and arrow missions... I'd even like it if they script a season or two into the game story. Given the size of the recent GTA games the game map shouldn't be much problem, as there are very few buildings to consider and just a ton of roads, short cuts, gullies and trees. I mean, what, make 3 tree sprites for variation then re-stamp them over and over? Simple. -

Actually, the town DID look like it did in the show...the first 5 episodes. It was a pretty good recreation of the town square in Covington. When I saw the courthouse I was like OH SNAP! Yeah, it was a bit small, but what can ya do. The driving was also a pain in the ass. It's bad when Cooter's Truck is the best car in the game. Here's another con: in two player mode the cars' power and handling are seriously downgraded, so it feels like you're driving through sludge. -
Hardly a fair comparison considering Bandit only jumped 1 bridge while the General's jumped a couple dozen.

What dimensions ya looking for? -
Hey, was just going by what the other board admins have said when similar situations've come up. I been doing boards like this for a few years now so I know about all the hassles and such. I know one board I go on the admin hadda turn off signature pictures to make his point, then turned 'em back on and things stayed relatively kosher for about a year. Of course now things're going back as they were so I guess maybe it didn't work in the long run... Er, I'm sure I had a point in there somewhere. 'Sides, Meadow, out of all those members how many are still active? Not like you would've had to manage every single member on the board, just the ones who actually post. I'm sure this forum has it's fair share of "dead" screen names. Just saying. Ah well, I'll adjust. But you folks really oughta consider consolidating some of these forum sections together. It's a mighty long list to wade through. I mean, just for example, you could merge the videogames and merchandise forums into one since, technically, videogames ARE merchandise and we may not really see another Dukes game in a while. Just a thought, don't gotta be getting SO specific.

I much rather preferred the old board. And not for nothing, the avatar problems didn't need to be problems. Moderators could've but a size cap on them in the old board as far as I know, or they could've gone in and resized them themselves. Also, demanding certain sizes coulda worked too. Dunno why y'all were content to live and let live there.

I collect comics, cards, hubcaps, license plates toys and various other merchandise and knick-knacks, I write (although working on that being professional), I bike, I explore, I play video games and guess that's pretty much it.

The town mighta been used in that flashback ep of the Dukes.

Dukes of Hazzard"The Beginning" is rated R
GENERAL CHARGER replied to TimDuke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Okay, then let's try this. Forgetting the Dukes movie was supposed to be the Dukes, this is complete and total BS entertainment. Grown men acting like they have some kind of mental retardation, crude jokes and a severe lack of plot do not and SHOULD not a good movie make. If this is the level cinema has to take to find an audience, then I feel bad that we as a society have allowed ourselves to get so dumbed down as to find this kind of thing mildly amusing. I'll stick to SMART comedies, movies like Ghostbusters which managed to somehow make a joke WITHOUT the stars acting like they dropped out of school in 2nd grade. -

GENERAL CHARGER replied to TimDuke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Hey, folks, been gone a while. Gone so long I made another account forgetting I had this one! But I'm back, and now lemme re-state what I stated: I saw the piece of crap movie that was Dukes in name only, and then I saw in the trailers for this that it looks like they're following that continuity closely. As such is the case, I can safely say the only thing worse than a Broken Lizard movie is an IMITATION Broken Lizard movie. If this somehow ends up on cable or regular TV, I MAY watch it out of curiosity just like I waited for the movie to be on HBO. But no way in hell I'd blow any of my money on what's obviously trash. It doesn't have to be exactly like the old show, but it could at least adhere to the things that made the old show so well liked and update them. When you got pot smoking rednecks who curse like NYers and act like total morons, that ain't the Dukes. -
Uh, what?

THAT was it! Maybe they thought one muscle car on the show was enough.
-
Of the boards. Duh.
-
Burden or not, I'd love to have that car. Maybe I should take a trip to LA and dig up some of the Generals burried in the river they always jumped.
-
I never cared for the front end of Daisy's car. It looked great from every other angle but the front just killed it.
-
They got a spicier one in the Bach section.

I play with my General Lee die-cast model often...even though it's just a blinged up Charger painted like a General.
