    Signs of Hazzard

Wow. You guys are awesome. I feel like a chooch. I made a post 5 years ago and y’all responded and I ghosted you. So, my wife planned a surprise trip to Covington, GA with the fam. Got To visit the jump sites from the first 5 episodes, meet some other cool Dukes fans AND John Schneider happened to be in town after a convention in Atlanta. Talk about an amazing day! Then, hit Cooters Garage in Pigeon Forge, TN a couple days later. Anyway, I’m totally geeking out on all things Dukes again and looking forward to checking out the forums here! I still love your artwork recreations, Hoss!

    Charlie Daniels

I was just watching a season 3 episode of The Fall Guy called 'Pirates of Nashville'. The main storyline was about bootlegged Country records, so Colt and gang had to fly to Nashville and visit The Grand Ole Opry. The first singer they met was Dottie West - one of Boss' Celebrity Speed Trap victims. A couple of others like Mickey Gilley were mentioned, but not seen. Then Charlie Daniels and his band showed up to perform 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'. The episode also featured Miriam Byrd-Nethery who appeared in two episodes of Dukes. The episode finished with Colt losing a bet and having to sing the show's theme song which was portrayed as having been written by Howie. I'm no expert on Tennessee geography, but the street signs in the urban car chase looked suspiciously like the ones in LA, and the out-of-town chase went down roads lined with white fencing that were very like the ones often seen in Dukes (e.g. W Potrero Road in Westlake Village).

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out. Just to keep you happy, Roger:

  7. I'm sad. We made the call yesterday. Have to put our dog my furry daughter of 14 years down on Monday. 😢 She's having problems. She's long ago house broke. I potty trained her to go outside. But she's old now and feeble, she doesn't even bark anymore to go out. She's going potty in doors now. She is having problems going up and down the stairs. Probably in pain. Easier to just go in here than it is for her to try and make it outside anymore.

  8. I just thought of something last week.....ever notice the theme song? Do you ever start the DVD and then go do something while it's playing ( I take my medicine before bed) and I NEVER get tired of hearing it, even when it plays over and over. It's like the episodes themselves.....there's no point of exhaustion! You can listen and watch over and over and over! What other show, band, etc. can you name like that???!!!

  11. It's past midnight at my house right now and since Enos lives in the same time zone in Valdosta Georgia that means he is officially 90. Happy birthday buddy. You are a true Southern gentleman and were a natural to play Enos Strate. This is cool.....our puppy Lulu turns one year old today. When we got her at the beginning of the year I was thrilled to learn she shared a birthday with Sonny Shroyer!

  13. well, cousins, right now I'm watching you know what and having a few AB's. I just watched Bad Day In Hazzard and I'm about to watch Miss Tri-Counties! I hope every one is doing well! 9/2 is coming fast and I'm counting down! Doctor gave me specific instructions, no beer or cold drinks 3 days before surgery! So Friday ( DOHD) is my last party day until after surgery and probably until somewhere around November!

  14. They don't even use the same car throughout 'Twin Trouble' - at least two different cars are used if you compare the front corner lights. It's probably safe to say that the car that was rolled wasn't used again. I think all of the cars in question are 1967 Chevy 4-door sedans. I'm surprised that you didn't spot another blue 1967 Chevy 4-door sedan being driven by Mary Lou Tompkins in 'A Baby for the Dukes' earlier in season 6. That one survived, so it could've been used in later episodes. They were most likely Impalas, but some could've been Bel Airs and Biscaynes. A couple appear to have the Sport Sedan body. Like with your previous questions about cars being the same across episodes, I think all we can say is they were similar. If they didn't get wrecked, they may have been reused.

  16. After Boss' brakes go out, Vance apparently stops his car by simply pressing the clutch. Vance previous told Boss "...what you gotta do is try to slowly downshift into first gear. And then let the gears slow you down.". All we see is him depressing the clutch but never raising it again as you would to shift gears with a stick transmission. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 1970 Cadillac DeVille only came with an automatic transmission, so it wouldn't have a clutch pedal anyway.

  17. Every time I rematch Dukes (for the thousandth time) I notice new things I’ve never noticed before like in Ding Dong the Boss is Dead, Boss’s Cadillac is at Cooters with the note on it. When the scaffolding almost falls on him you can see the Cadillac in front of the steps. Then when Boss goes to get in his car he walks over to Cooters and gets the car and reads the note. I’m sure someone else has noticed this but I like noticing new things when you aren’t focusing on it you don’t really notice.

  19. I only watched the scene around the impound yard, but most of those stores are on French Street. You can see towards Boss' bank when the boys escape jail, but the bank is blocked by a truck. You can also see a redressed Rhuebottoms and paint store in the background when Sheriff Little crashes through the fence. The building with the fence is redressed as different businesses in several episodes.

  28. There is one thing I have learned about loss Skipper. There is an old saying "There is no right or wrong way to heal." Do whatever you need to do to bring yourself comfort. Everybody understands loss but there is nobody who completely understands what each individual is going through. This will not be an easy week or even month for you. At the moment it seems like there is no way you will ever get better. Go ahead and feel sorry for yourself and believe that you will never get better. That's completely normal. But a day will come when you will think more about who Ruby was than what her fate was. You will get better. We love you cousin.

  29. This episode has one of the greatest ending phrases! A body or a car is never too old as long as it's got the fightin' spirit! I think this is a great inspirational line!

  30. Growing up at my grandparents we watched shows like Dukes, The Golden Girls, Three’s Company, All in The Family, Mash, & Smokey and The Bandit ( not a show but love it just as much as Dukes ) too many to name so many classics. But nothing will ever compare to Dukes.

  31. Decided to take a last minute 6hr drive down to Pottsville for the first time to meet Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, Jeff Altman, and Miss Alma was amazing meeting the cast. It was from 12-5. We waited in Catherine’s line from 12 until just after 1. She was so nice to talk with and will have a conversation with you despite the hour long line to meet her. She joked around with us and has a great sense of humour. Will definitely go back to meet her again. Tom gave out autographed CDs and was very funny as well when he was trying to put on 80s hits on his phone. His line was only 10 minutes thankfully as I couldn’t do another hour in line. Some people told us he wasn’t nice and that wasn’t the case at all he was very greeting. Didn’t have to wait in line for Jeff, he was very excited to meet fans and loved to talk. He was on the radio talking about how he was supposed to be there by 11pm Friday night but got delayed and had to take the bus until 3am and said he had never “driven a bus” before as a joke. Good selection of Cooters Merchandise for sale by Miss Alma. Couldn’t ask for nicer people. I was wondering if anyone here on Hazzard net was at the show??

  34. The writers never paid much attention to consistency with place names and locations. However, both Seminole Canyon and Seminole Road are mentioned in 'The New Dukes'. Seeing as the Mean Green Machine is spotted "headed east on Seminole Road" and Vance says "We gotta catch them before they reach the end of the canyon", I think we can assume that Seminole Road leads either to or more likely through Seminole Canyon. BTW. In 'Follow That Still', Rosco tries to block the APC at the bottom of Seminole Hill. I doubt if this has any connection, and the writers just recycled the name over the next few seasons.

  41. They're not the only ones who changed the lines - I spotted at least three mistakes in yours. Please check your lyrics before posting, just like we've asked with your quotes. I Googled the lyrics to save having to retype them, and had to go to the second results page before I found the fully correct words. With so many wrong versions around, it'd be good if HazzardNet had them right. Just the good ol' boys Never meanin' no harm Beats all you never saw Been in trouble with the law Since the day they was born Staightnin' the curves (yeah) Flatnin' the hills Someday the mountain might get 'em But the law never will Makin' their way The only way they know how That's just a little bit more Than the law will allow (woo) Here's a video of the Alvin and the Chipmunks cover.

  42. Why would you want to go to a doctor in a big city? They don't know anything compared to country doctors. I bet they don't even know that Sassafras tea is good for sore throats.

  43. Keep us updated Cousin. It's kinda strange that Doc Appleby and Doc Petticord would go on vacation at the same time. For the sake of Hazzard folks they should coordinate things better. Have you considered going to the doctor in Chickasaw County to get it done sooner?

  45. Get ready for some serious car art skills! I can draw the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard in 3D! I show the entire car from all angles - left, right, top, front, and back. My secret technique? Starting with the iconic flag rectangle on the roof and building the rest of the car from there. Who else loves the General Lee? 47. I'm just watching S3E01 of 'The Fall Guy', and it reunites Lee Majors with his bionic co-star Lindsay Wagner. While it's mentioned above and in another thread that Jimmie Best taught Lindsay Wagner, her imdb trivia page says that before acting she was a regular babysitter for his children, and it was as a result of this that Jimmie recommended she tried acting classes.
