  1. I've never seen his shows (I'm not sure if they were shown over here), but I'm familiar with him through memes! It's so odd for me listening to Thomas being narrated by an American. The fictional setting of the Island of Sodor is so British (it's meant to be located in the Irish Sea between the English mainland and the Isle of Man). BTW. Last weekend marked the 80th anniversary of The Railway Stories (AKA. Thomas and Friends) - there's an article about it here. At least the music's good to dance to.

I've just spent the evening at a bar (very unusual for me) listening to a couple of local guys playing live music on acoustic guitars. It was a good mix of traditional Irish songs and old favorites. What surprised me was the number of Americans at the bar. The first people I spoke to were from just across the Indiana border from Chicago, but there were three groups from California (Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles), one from Seattle and another from Florida. I know where I live is a popular tourist destination, but I rarely get to speak to the visitors.

I heard that a player had been robbed, but not who it was until after I saw your post. Sadly, there seems to be a trend of attacks in Dublin at the moment. An English tourist was stabbed (but survived) in the same area last week. I don't know if they've caught anyone or announced the nationality of the attackers. By all accounts the NFL game was a success, so it's such a shame that it was marred by an incident like this.

So, are you going to turn your kit into a Charger Daytona? I don't know much about 3D printing, but www.printables.com has downloadable files for a General Lee including the push bar.

They used some '68 Chargers in the show, so it's still authentic. The main differences between the '68 and '69 Chargers are the front grille, the rear lights and the side markers. You can sand off the side markers (as they did with the real ones). You can probably fabricate the front grille divider (they had center pieces to clip to '68 grilles on some cars in the show). The tail lights will be trickier to change.

Well y’all in the past 24 hours, life hasn’t been too eventful but I did go to visit a friend who was staying in town, hung out with her and her doggo. Cute as button, but so strong. That pup pulled me and I’m a full grown man. What happened was she was just going to get something at the nearby convenience store… the dog went nuts and started pulling me along even though I dug my heels in. Guess you just can’t get between a dog and their momma. Lol.

Went to the local GM plant's car show today. Over 300 cars, possibly 400 showed up. One that stuck out for me was a restored Hudson pickup truck. Never seen one before. Since it was invitation only it was pretty much hot rods and muscle cars. They might go back to open registration again next year. Few years ago they had some trouble with a few people and police showed up so that's when they made it invitation only, you have to work there or worked there or know someone that works there that will write you in.

A couple of pieces of F1 news. Firstly, Cadillac F1 recently announced F1 veterans Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will be their drivers next season. Now they've added IndyCar race winner Colton Herta as their test driver. Secondly, Irish driver Alex Dunne gets his second chance to drive an F1 McLaren in the first practice session this weekend at Monza.

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out. Just to keep you happy, Roger:

  22. Just Google "Meteorites for sale" and you will see tons of them. The problem is that lots of them aren't real. It's best to buy from reputable dealers but it can be hard to know which ones are reputable. That has always kept me from buying one.

Roger, I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I see your Steelers are playing the Vikings in Ireland this weekend. Although we've hosted college games before, this is the first full NFL game to be played here. Apparently, I missed the Terrible Towel Tour when it came to town earlier this week. They covered eight counties in four days. Max Starks was talking about it earlier on the radio. I don't know if the link will work outside of Ireland, but hopefully you can hear him here.

Last night was the last pro dirt bike races of the year. I watched the first 2 out of 4 but couldn't do the other 2 because I got up at 6 yesterday morning. The races were in Vegas. I'm like Garrett after NASCAR....sad. Or, I will be after watching these last two races I have recorded.

  38. Getting pretty dry here. So far the well is holding up but we have no rain in the forecast for at least a week. Been super clear the last month....good for astronomy. And the drought has killed all the mosquitoes so that's good. Unfortunately I hurt my back and haven't been able to ride the trails on the dirt bike.

    Happy Birthday Cooter

Thanks for letting me know I didn’t know about this. I respect everyone’s opinion as well. If I see actors/singers post political statements I usually try and not let it bother me because it ruins it if you look too much into it when you’re favorite singer or actor is not who you thought they were.

  50. I saw this article earlier today and rolled my eyes and scrolled passed it...I have a hard time seeing or thinking of NASCAR without Chevy in it. There has always been Chevys in there. Why would Chevy pull out of NASCAR for? I can see them pulling the Camero out for some reason or another (as them not not selling out the parts as much as listed in the article) but I am sure they'd put in another type of Chevy in it's place. It hasn't always been the Camero. It use to be Monte Carlo and Impala before it came to the Camero. But if the slim chance that Chevy did pull out of NASCAR completely...well I'd be just as loss as my Hendrick boys. I mean what would they drive without a Chevy? I can't see Hendrick in any other manufacturer outside of Chevy. LOL.
