RIP Rick Hurst
Justin and 4 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic
When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.5 points -

Jesse gets on the CB to Skipper "This ain't looking too good Skipper. If it wasn't me who was going to win this race I was hoping you were going to. But I don't see how we can catch either one of these guys. And to make matters worse it's getting downright dangerous back here. It's starting to look like your boat hitch is starting to come loose. I'd hate to see it come undone....but it would make you faster. But the bad news is (Jesse starts singing) The Minnow would be lost...The Minnow would be lost. And it's getting dangerous on my other side too. Emma keeps staring at me and taking her eyes off the race track. I'm really starting to be sorry I agreed to this. Remind me to tell Hobie next year I'm not doing it."3 points -

Seeing how fast Hobie and Uncle Jesse had gotten their vehicles to go fast, Garrett wonders what kind of work they put into their vehicles and why Garrett for once decided to race fair. "This is why NASCAR has all them silly rules," he mutters to himself as he momentarily holds Hobie off in hopes of making it to the finish line first.3 points -

I know I've posted something like this before, but this is more detailed. I have several "errors" situations etc. firstly, we know that the 1st episode aired in 1979. in it Waylon says last year (1978) the boys got caught on a run. in happy birthday general lee (aired 1984) we learn 8 years prior (1976) is when they got the general, bo was "just getting out of hs", Luke got out or marines, (not sure of how long someone could/had to stay in service back then) but they were even on probation then. (my guess is they never wanted they boys to use guns) Daisys shotgun wedding (aired 1983) : she had been working at boars nest for 4 years. was it 79 or 76? Hazzard hijack: Lukes's marine "buddy" was part of stolen money 5 years prior (1976) (they never "found" each other after Luke came home) 1979 ghost of general lee rosco says he chased the boys so many times over the years it was only three years I'm sure it was more (but I'm specifically talking of the general) bye bye boss 1981: ten years prior boss sent digger to jail (the "kids" did not know about it) play it again luke 1984: luke last saw candy 7 years prior (1977) there are several others that "meet each other" I know they were never thinking facts for timelines just rewatching it is funny with some episodes.3 points -

In the Austrian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz Jnr's Williams broke down on the grid, so only 19 cars started the race. Oscar Piastri started third, but got ahead of Charles Leclerc at the first bend and spent most of the first stint right on Lando Norris' rear wing and even briefly overtook once. Canadian Grand Prix winner George Russell got past Lewis Hamilton at the start, but Hamilton retook the place be the end of the first lap. Max Verstappen was hit by Kimi Antonelli on the first lap, ending both of their races. Max's team mate, Yuki Tsunoda got a 10-second penalty later in the race for causing a collision and was the last car running at the end, so no points for Red Bull at their home track, the Red Bull Ring. It was also a bad day for Williams as their other car driven by Alex Albon had to retire from a top 10 position after 17 laps. The pit stops gave Lando a bit of breathing space at the front, but there were some good battles behind. After the second pit stops, Oscar was catching Lando, but Lando managed to hang on to the lead through the back markers and took the win for a McLaren 1-2. Oscar's lead in the drivers' championship is now down to 15 points. Ferrari finished third and fourth, and overtook Mercedes in the constructors' championship. Liam Lawson scored his best F1 finish in sixth. Liam had a bad start to the season at Red Bull and got demoted to their junior team RB (Racing Bulls). He now has two more points than Yuki Tsunoda who replaced him! Gabriel Bortoleto also had a great result scoring his first F1 points in eighth in his Sauber. You can see the race highlights here. Next week it's the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It's the only race of the year that gets shown live here on free-to-air TV, but the weather will determine if I stay in to watch it live.3 points

I forgot to mention 'On the Rocks'. Rick played one of the inmates in this prison-set sitcom in the mid-70s. It was based on the British sitcom 'Porridge', which coincidentally I'm watching right now. I've only ever seen a couple of clips of 'On the Rocks' - maybe it'll make it online one day. Here's the intro:3 points -
I can’t believe it in a sense, but there it is. Rick Hurst has crossed the creek on that rainbow bridge, now not only reunited with his kinfolk, but also a lot of the Dukes family who’ve gone on before him. I’m saddened I never got to meet him, I think it would have been fun to know him. God bless y’all. Tom Duke3 points

dukes "timeline'
Skipper Duke and 2 others reacted to HossC for a topic
Welcome to HNet, joshkeith. The ages of the characters are never revealed (except for Abraham Lincoln Hogg by his driver's licence, and therefore his twin brother, Boss), but the subject has been discussed a few times before. Here are three threads to get you started: Ages of dukes I have a question??? What were the real ages of cast? Anyone know? Aside from the flashback episodes ('Go West, Young Dukes' and 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'), and the shown-out-of-order season 2 episodes, I think Dukes ran chronologically, although not many storylines crossed episodes or seasons. An example of this is T.C. Rogers becoming Supervisory Administrator of Hazzard County in 'People's Choice' (S2E11), but then she was never mentioned again. Of course, the 2005/2007 movies completely ignored the canon of the TV series, but that's another story!3 points -

This is a bit of a sensitive subject to me since my collection of stuff was sold at a low point in my life in 1989 when I was struggling emotionally and financially from a divorce. Of course I have bought things since then but lost my motivation to replace it all. I'll sit this one out. Don't let me spoil the fun though.3 points -

But wait! Skipper hit a bump and several life jackets fell out of the Minnow. Most of them landed right on Meadowmufn's windshield. Her view is blocked and she went off the track. She hasn't crashed but has briefly come to a stop. She then used her wipers to clean the life jackets off the window but has dropped way back before getting back in the race. Looks like she doesn't have a chance now.2 points -

"Dang it," Garrett hisses to himself in frustration as he sees Hobie catching up while wondering how Hobie managed to catch up as quickly as he did. Instead he focuses on pushing the gas pedal farther down and to help his car get faster than what he was doing.2 points -

There are just some kinds of shows that the alien/sci-fi/UFO crap (my opinion) doesn’t work…and DOH was definitely one! Leave that garbage for Star Wars, Star Trek, and X-Files. Ironically another show, around the same time, that tried the aliens ridiculousness was Miami Vice. An episode called “Missing Hours” ended up being famously known as THE worst episode of MV (in my opinion, possibly the worst episode in TV history)!2 points -

Within seconds Miz Tisdale and Jesse have caught Skipper. The three of them are side by side by side battling for third place. Jesse looks in the mirror and sees no other racers except Boss's Gray Ghost 2 which is quite a ways back. Then Jesse looks ahead. Hobie has caught up to Garrett. He is now inches from Garrett's back bumper. Unless they crash each other out it looks like nobody else has a chance to win this race. But ya just never know. This is Hazzard after all.2 points -

Garrett gets worried when his car sputters and swears under his breath before he feels the power return to full throttle. Still worried about what that may have been, he tries to push it out of mind as he looks back and is disappointed to see his lead length shorten due to the sputter. Shaking his head, he does the only thing he can do. Look ahead and shove the gas pedal to the floor and a hint of a smile crosses his face to feel the strong power of Spittin' Cobra back full force.2 points -
I'm not sure that the 8-minute highlights will do justice to today's British Grand Prix. There had been rain before the race leaving most of the track wet. Franco Colapinto was due to start from the pits after crashing yesterday, but in the end he didn't make it, leaving 19 cars on the grid. They all started the formation lap on the intermediate tires, but several cars peeled into the pits before the start to gamble of slick tires. Max Verstappen kept the lead at the start, but it was soon clear that Red Bull's low downforce setup wasn't going to work so well in the wet conditions. Behind them, Liam Lawson got hit by Esteban Ocon on the first lap and Gabriel Bortoleto spun off on slick tires on lap 4. Oscar Piastri took the lead on lap 8. A couple of laps later, the rain began to fall. All the leaders pitted for new intermediate tires, and although Lando Norris had just passed Max on the track, a slow pit stop for Lando saw the positions swap back. The rain then got worse, bringing out the first full safety car. Another safety car came out when Isack Hadjar hit the back of Kimi Antonelli's car. If you watch the video below, you'll see that the visibility was close to zero. Kimi had to retire his car a few laps later. At the end of the second safety car we had the most controversial call of the race. Leading the pack and controlling their speed, Oscar accelerated and then braked trying to warm his tires. Max thought he was starting to push and briefly passed him, which is not allowed behind the safety car. Oscar was deemed to have driven erratically and given a 10-second penalty, which the commentators and his team thought was harsh. At the next corner, Max spun his car and slipped to 9th and then 10th. With about 8 laps to go and the track drying, the drivers finally switched to slick tires. Lewis Hamilton had been getting faster as the circuit dried, but in the end he could only make it back to fourth place. Lando became the 13th British winner of the British Grand Prix ahead of team mate Oscar. The result of the day and driver of the day was Kick Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg in third. He started 19th and last on the grid and claimed his first podium finish in 239 race starts. After his spin. Max eventually climbed back to finish fifth. Lando is now only 8 points behind Oscar in the drivers' championship, while McLaren look to have an unassailable lead in the constructors' championship with another 43 points today. Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes each only had one scoring driver with 12, 10 and 1 points respectively. You can see the highlights here. It's now three weeks until the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.2 points

Things really going downhill from here. Even Skipper has passed Roger. Looking like a fourth place finish. But wait! In the excitement of the competition Roger forgot about the back up nitrous oxide Cooter installed for moments just like this. He hits the toggle switch to turn the primary system off and hits another switch to turn the secondary system on. Once again g-forces push him back. He passes Skipper and is on the move...back into third place. A quick glance in the mirror shows Emma Tisdale closing in on Skipper. The front wheel of her dirt bike has been off the ground the last several miles. But she is starting to run low on nitrous oxide.2 points -
