Frog (I'm seeing a lot of Miss Piggy/Kermit memes at the moment) 9 brains and 3 hearts. I've seen another meme a few times recently that says "If Adam & Eve had been Cajuns, they would have eaten the snake instead of the apple and saved us all a lot of trouble."

I think you're right. I was just pointing out that not every General was painted that color, and as you say, stunt cars were often painted with whatever orange was available.

    Runaway Satellite!

I think it was the '73 Road Runner that they had trouble getting parts for, despite it being a later model. I'm pretty sure that the decision to switch to the Jeep was mainly because of the sponsorship, although it also meant that we got to see more of Cathy's legs! You should probably check out image hosting sites. Flickr lets you host up to 1,000 images for free. Here's a picture of the Satellite (which they painted to look like the later Road Runner):

I'm sure that Roger would've loved my day out today. No motorbikes, but all sorts of farming machinery on display. This is usually the time of year for the National Ploughing Championships, but this year it's also Ireland's turn to host the World Ploughing Championships (BTW. "ploughing" is just the correct way to spell "plowing" ). It's normally where I pick up my year's supply of free pens, but freebies were thin on the ground this year. Due to Covid, it's the first time that the event has been held since 2019. It's now the fourth time I've been to the event, and I still haven't seen any actual ploughing (it's done on neighboring fields). What most of the nearly 300,000 visitors go for are the stalls and stands selling all manner of goods and services.

    Gray car

It's been all but confirmed the beauty cars(cars seen close up) were painted 1975 Corvette Flame Red, GM code 70. I remember reading an article that stated when they scanned the trunk lid it matched Corvette Flame Red. Even a scan of old paint won't give accurate results. Reds, yellows and oranges tend to change more than other colors over time. They did use other orange colors on the stunt cars mostly to save money and would often mix leftovers to make enough to paint a car. Some people think Hemi Orange was used but it wasn't. Hemi Orange is a 1969 Dodge Charger color but it's a very dark red-orange and almost always photographs red. Hemi Orange does have a light metallic in it too. 1975 Corvette Flame Red is the main color of the General Lee.

You forgot to mention that the General was green in 'Southern Comfurts'. Regarding the color, apparently they used Big Bad Orange in the movies. For the series, it's widely published that the General was Corvette Flame Red, but I found a 2020 article which includes a video of Travis Bell on Ed Bolian's VINwiki YouTube channel. He claims to have color-scanned the trunk of the original General and found the color to be TNT Express. That's a color I'm familiar with because it was used by the TNT Express shipping company (similar to FedEx or UPS), and I'd often see their trucks on the motorway. It looks like TNT Express was bought out by FedEx nearly a year ago. Here's the video:

I always used to think the monarchy was a waste of time and money but as I got older I realized the importance of history, tradition and legacy. It's too bad we don't understand that on this side of the Atlantic. We seem to want to deny history happened by rewriting it and destroying the past. This cancel culture thing makes me sick.

Thanks, Roger. I never got to meet the Queen (I've saw her at a distance a few times when I was younger), but she's been a figurehead for Britain since well before I was born. Some people will say that a monarchy's an outdated concept in the 21st century, but having a non-political head of state pays dividends too. She hung on just long enough to meet the UK's new Prime Minister a couple of days ago. The Queen's oldest son, Charles, now becomes the King.

  25. Today I cut down the 70 front grill to make a bumper. I need to decide whether to keep it like it is or to try to extend it back over the fender. Doing that will leave a bit of a visible seam in the chrome, so I'm not sure if it's worth doing vs just leaving it this shape and cleaning it up a bit.

  28. Although there are also others that definitely qualify for the spooky aspects, and I’ll get to them eventually, because it is nearing the fall and Halloween season, I decided to rewatch “Ghost of General Lee”. I remember watching this one when it originally aired as a kid, and I’ll never forget it! It actually tugged at some very genuine heart strings and emotions, and was very popular at the time! However, one thing that I’ve not really ever given much thought before until now, is towards the beginning when they think the Duke boys have gone into & drowned in the pond, Rosco makes the comment that he can’t swim! What?? How many times did he go into ponds himself...and have no trouble getting out? I find that statement pretty silly & non-believable...especially for DOH! But, I guess we’re supposed to just go with it for this one episode. Overall it’s one of my favorites...as a kid & as an adult.

  29. Since I no longer have a printed body to work on until I can print another one, I've shifted my focus to one of the Generals. I'm starting with the Kyosho. For this car, the biggest task is to convert the front end from a 70 to a 69. I am doing this by removing the 70 chrome piece, cutting out the lexan behind the original grill, and installing a 3D printed grill that I'm designing. Here's the original 70 front end: Here's the front end with my conversion in place. Aside from tweaking the grill angle slightly, I think my design is essentially done. When I print the final one, I'll use a much lower layer height, but even with the draft quality, I'm super stoked with how it looks. Next step is to figure out a bumper. I'm hoping to cut down the 70 grill and see how it looks. Even though it won't extend back toward the wheel well, I think overall it'll look better than a printed bumper.

  30. I had a couple of 1:10 Tamiya RC cars in the '80s. I started with the Holiday Buggy and then moved on to the F150 Ranger. For the latter, I also had the wheels and VW Baja Bug body to make it into the Sand Scorcher. The Ranger and Bug bodies where quite hard plastic, but very detailed. Seeing the prices they go for now, I kinda wish I still had them! There is an original Kyosho Optima partially disassembled in a box at my parents; house, but it's been there for over 30 years and I can't remember what parts it needed. There's a guy I watch on YouTube who does great videos of the Tamiya 1:14 trucks. It's amazing how technology has progressed to have models with multiple working lights and realistic sounds. I'd love one, but doubt my modeling skills after so many years, and I'd struggle to justify the expense. Also, it'd probably end up as a "shelf queen"!
    2 points
  31. Thanks! The 1:10 scale cars really are a LOT bigger than the 1/18 scale stuff that most model & diecast collectors are used to. The best part about the RCs though, is that you get to see them in motion. In the RC world, a "shelf queen" is a pretty common term for a car that you build more as a functional model as opposed to one that you plan to use and abuse. It's real common in the vintage RC scene where a lot of guys will lovingly restore some of the more desirable models from the early to mid 80s, and as you can imagine with something like that, although it is restored to be fully functional, it won't ever get used because they want it to stay pristine. For me, it's a little different in that my goal is to mimic the show in the sense that I want to have the "hero" car that will get used for some of the close-ups and the general driving footage, and the "stunt" car for, well, the stunts. These lexan bodies are pretty durable overall, but they still take a beating. The 3d-printed bodies (Rosco's car) are even more fragile, and I don't think they'll tolerate jumping at all, at least not without some significant help. Thanks! I'm looking forward to the actual running videos that I hope to eventually make after I finish these cars. I really enjoy making the running videos, even though they don't perform well on my channel at all. I'm hoping that the Dukes videos do a lot better than my normal running videos. What few well-done dukes RC videos there are seem to have quite a following. This one here is probably one of the most well done, and is one that I've watched a bunch of times. If I can capture some of the realism from his videos, but add to it by including chase scenes with Rosco's car, I'll be a happy camper:

Another day by the sea for me today, this time almost as far south-east as you can go in Ireland. The sun never properly broke through the clouds today, so no swimming. After exploring the village and quick walk on the beach we headed to the local town where I ended up spending far more than I'd planned to., but it was all stuff I needed.

    Runaway Satellite!

I’m not gonna lie... I do not care for Season 2’s “The Runaway”. I remember watching this one when it originally aired. I never cared for the plot...but, the worst aspect was losing Daisy’s 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Coupe! I loved that car, 2nd only to General Lee...but, the story goes that supposedly they found it hard to find replacement parts for the Satellite (although the car was barely 9 years old at the time? ) & Jeep offered the show some new 1980 models to showcase, so they had Daisy’s Plymouth destroyed by running it over a cliff. Then they bring in this dorky (my opinion) white Jeep called ‘Dixie’. Daisy finishes out the show with the Jeep (a couple different model years were used throughout the show’s run), but I will always love the Satellite best!! (Note: the episode “Arrest Jesse Duke” aired 2 episodes before this, and for whatever reason/s was aired out of order...as Daisy already had Dixie with no explanation.) I’d add a photo of the Satellite, but no matter what pic (of anything or anyone) I try to add, it always says it’s supposedly too big.

The Nascar Silly Season really took a swing for the fences... Kyle Busch left Joe Gibbs Racing for Richard Childress Racing and will drive the #8 Chevy Camaro for 2023 and it sounds like he signed a long term contract https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2022/09/13/kyle-busch-to-join-richard-childress-racing-in-2023/ Tyler Reddick is either going to drive a 3rd RCR car or if Kurt Busch retires, 2311 racing could buyout his RCR contract or since Kyle Busch is leaving JGR they could buy out his contract and have him drive the #18 for a year.

    NASCAR news

It looks like I forgot to post a review of last week's Dutch Grand Prix - you can see the highlights here. This weekend was Ferrari's home race at Monza, Italy. Sadly, it was another race weekend spoiled by regulations and procedures. Nearly half the field had grid penalties for using excessive engine parts, but it took around four hours after qualifying before they decided the starting grid for yesterday's race. Home favorite Charles LeClerc started on pole, but championship leader Max Verstappen made it up from seventh to third by the end of the second lap. While Mercedes driver George Russell fought for a top-three place, his team mate Lewis Hamilton had to make his way slowly forward from 19th. The end of the race was the big letdown. Daniel Ricciardo had to pull his McLaren over with a few laps remaining. The stewards were slow to call a safety car and then only some of the back markers unlapped themselves, so the race finished behind the safety car with the two championship contenders at the front on the soft (fastest) tires. Even though Max Verstappen won his fifth race in a row, his team boss Christian Horner admitted that fans had been deprived of a last lap battle. Unlike NASCAR, F1 cars start with a set amount of fuel, so green–white–checker finishes might not be an option, but something needs to be done. Dutch driver Nyck de Vries won driver of the day. He drove a test session for Aston Martin in Friday's free practice 1 (FP1), and then got called up to drive for Williams when Alex Albon was diagnosed with appendicitis on Saturday morning (Alex is doing fine now after he suffered "post-operative anesthetic complications"). I think the commentators said that he's the first person to drive for two different teams in the same race weekend since the late-70s. He qualified in a respectable 13th place, but started in 8th after the grid penalties were applied to others. Nyck finished 9th to score two points on his F1 debut. Although the race was in Italy, many teams are British-based and several had tributes to the Queen on their cars. There was also a minute's silence before the race. You can see Monza highlights here. The next race isn't until the Singapore GP on September 30th, where Max Verstappen could theoretically win the championship with six races still to go.

By a strange coincidence, the police sergeant from the same 'Bewitched' episode was played by Herb Vigran ... ... who was the window washer in 'Herbie Rides Again'. Of course, 'Herbie Rides Again' also featured Don Pedro Colley (aka Sheriff Little). It looks like someone's updated IMDb since my original post.
