Qualifying for tomorrow's race favored McLaren. Oscar Piastri took his first F1 main race pole (he's previously had a couple of sprint poles), with team mate Lando Norris again making a mistake on his fastest lap to qualify in third. They were split by George Russell in second. Max Verstappen got pushed back to fourth, followed by the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Rookies Isack Hadjar and Andrea Kimi Antonelli took seventh and eighth. Let's hope that Isack makes it round to the start this week. The highlights are here.2 points -

The main race turned out to be less exciting than the sprint race. Oscar Piastri held his lead at the start and team mate Lando Norris got past George Russell. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc passed Max Verstappen, but Charles lost the end of his front wing hitting Lewis at the first corner. Weirdly, the damage seemed to make his car faster. Most of the cars only made one pit stop, although Lewis tried a second when he was being caught by Max. He only lost one place trying it, and he'd have lost that anyway. Max also passed Charles before the end. At the checkered flag, Oscar and Lando took a 1-2 for McLaren with George in third. Max was fourth ahead of the Ferraris, although team mate Liam Lawson had another disappointing race and finished 15th. Completing the top ten were Esteban Ocon (Haas), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Alex Albon (Williams) and Oliver Bearman (Haas) who made some good overtakes to move up from 17th to 10th to claim the final point. Fernando Alonso was the only retiree from the race. His brake issues meant he's yet to finish a main race this year. The 8-minute highlights are here. Lando now leads the Drivers' Championship on 44 points, but there's only two points between the next three with Max (36), George (35) and Oscar (34). Both McLarens have scored well so far, so they have a good lead over Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship, but there's only a point between Red Bull and Ferrari in third and fourth. The next race is the Japanese Grand Prix in two weeks.1 point -

In the F1 sprint race, Lewis Hamilton converted his pole position to his first win for Ferrari. Oscar Piastri passed Max Verstappen for second, and George Russell passed Charles Leclerc for fourth. That's four different teams in the top four places. Sometimes the sprint races can be a little processional, with drivers not wanting to take too many risks with their cars a few hours before qualifying for the main race, but there was a good bit of overtaking in the midfield today. The highlights are here.1 point

Season 2 Follow That Still. When Boss Hogg and Rosco are in Boss Hogg's new war memorial a tank. At the Boars Nest. Trying to get it positioned for set up for the visitors. Rosco is driving it, Boss Hogg is peaking out the peep hole telling him where and when to stop. He crashes into the Boars Nest. Boss Hogg:"HOLD IT! Yer breakin' up the Boars Nest!" Rosco:"Yeah. I did scuff it a little bit didn't I?" Boss Hogg:"You sure did!" He backs up and crashes into the front of Boss Hogg's Cadillac. The front bumper falls off. Boss Hogg:"HOLD IT! Yer destroyin' my car!" Rosco:"No. I just knocked the front bumper off a little bit." Boss Hogg:"It's good enough right here! Leave it, before you wreck the whole place!"1 point -

Season 1 Daisy's Song Daisy Duke:"Gee, I knew it tough to get into show business, but I never heard of them usin' guns to keep you out." Luke Duke:"Well, those .44 magnums convinced me." Daisy Duke:"Why would a music publisher need a bodyguard?" Luke Duke:"I don't know." Bo Duke:"I just don't like bein' sent home with my tail tucked." Luke Duke:"Hey. We can't go home, tucked or otherwise. Now, Jesse said "Either get the royalties or Daisy's 50 bucks back" we ain't got either." Bo Duke:"Well, maybe we could reason with Starr, if his trained ape wasn't around." Daisy Duke:"How do you plan to do that?" Bo Duke:"What's the last thing he expects right now?" Luke Duke:"A fat man in a red suit drivin' reindeer!" Bo Duke:"No, us! We'll use Stonewall Jackson's old tactic! When they think yer runnin' away, you attack." Luke Duke:"Stonewall Jackson had the Confederate Army! I got you!" Bo Duke (Pointing at the car):"An' General Lee!" Daisy Duke:"Ok boys. Now I'm gonna be in the back with the motor runnin', in case this doesn't work out." Luke Duke:"An' it won't!" Bo Duke:"Luke, if you don't believe in this, then how come yer doin' it?" Luke Duke:"Because facin' a gorilla with 2 guns is easier than facin' Jesse. Come on, let's go!" Now Daisy, you pay real close attention alright."1 point -

TV Westerns

Anybody else watch westerns regularly? I grew up watching them with my dad. I've been watching them a lot more frequently lately. Gunsmoke and The Rifleman are my favorites, but I do enjoy "Have Gun--Will Travel", "Wagon Train", Wanted: Dead or Alive", etc. There are a lot of great western streaming channels like INSP and Grit and I've found that Gunsmoke is on somewhere just about 24 hours a day. 😁1 point -

I'm not sure if we had all of those in the UK. Most of the names are familiar, but I've probably only heard of them later in life. The nearest to the genre that I remember watching were 'Champion the Wonder Horse' (aka 'The Adventures of Champion') and 'The Lone Ranger'.1 point -

Some time after I wrote the review above, the result was changed. Lewis Hamilton was disqualified for having one of his skid blocks below the required thickness, and both Charles Leclerc and Alpine's Pierre Gasly were disqualified for having underweight cars. That promotes Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Carlos Sainz (Williams) into the top ten. With Ferrari losing points and Williams gaining points, they now both have 17 points in the Constructors' Championship.0 points
