Online Bait and Switch Scams
RogerDuke reacted to Skipper Duke for a topic
Friends... Beware when buying anything online! My Bluenox Skipper's hat in my Facebook profile picture, ordered from eBay seller Bluenox out of Sialkot Pakistan October 3 2020, shipped October 20 2020 and delivered October 26 2020, did not come with Gilligan's Island Alan Hale Jr.(Skipper) Twisted Knotted Intertwined Mouse Braid on it like advertised! The guy pulled the old bait and switch act on me, by showing me one thing, and delivering another completely different thing! The grand total of $78.29 and it still isn't what I wanted! Btw(by the way)this seller is a dead link now. His page no longer exists. I have learned my lesson. Can't believe everything I see! The moral of the story and the lesson learned is shop with extreme caution when buying items online, that you can't see and inspect in person first! Mom did at the time of purchase tell my brother her other son Donny a joke about it "They're gonna get my money and give Bobby something from out of a Comic Book!" Oh man, was she close! It's not something out of a Comic Book, but we did get scammed on the braid. The braid is a fictional product a style we did not pay for. We paid for the Twisted Knotted Intertwined Mouse Braid and he gave me Gorget style just a regular cap cord with a knot at each end. Like mom says "The Internet is a lie!" While not all of the whole entire Internet is a lie, some things and some people on it unfortunately are. On a happy note, at least the Skipper's hat came. I did receive the item. Albeit the wrong braid though. But it could've been a lot worse. Could've got our money, and sent nothing or sent a brick in a box. That actually happened. I heard a story about a man who bought something from eBay and received a brick in the box. I know a guy name Gary Scott Fine on Facebook who has had a similar experience with a seller by the name of World Wing. Gary requested Black buttons, but received Gold Brass buttons. When he confronted the seller World Wing, World Wing said "I forgot to put the Black buttons on, you can paint them!" And this was after he even confirmed Gary's order details back to Gary to ensure Gary was getting exactly what he wanted! There are many scams out there unfortunately. It can even happen here in the USA, but it's much more likely apt to happen dealing with overseas sellers. On a happy note, at least both Gary and I received our items, even if there was 1 wrong detail with them. I know why his eBay page probably no longer exists. He probably did the same trick to many other buyers. One probably launched a complaint against him for false advertising/item misrepresentation/fraud etc etc. Probably got him shut down. Karma came back and got him for how he done me. Bluenox was a scammer. He got what he deserved. October 3, 2024 will be 4 years since the order. The 20 4 years it shipped. The 26 4 years since delivery. eBay only allows a window of 30 days for returns. It's unfortunately to late for me to do anything about it now. I know why they(the folks who are bait and switchers)do it. Because they know everyone wants the Gilligan's Island braid. If they show the straight regular plain Gorget style Cap Cord instead of the braided one, they know they risk to lose sales, especially among the folks like me series fans and of his Skipper character. They show the Skipper's braid as a sales tactic/marketing strategy to move the product. If they show the braid they intentionally plan on using, nobody who are (Gilligan's Island/Skipper) fans will not want to buy their product because it isn't quite screen accurate without that correct braided rope.1 point -
Today's Monaco Grand Prix ended up as a pretty dull procession. Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc took pole position at his home race, with championship leader Max Verstappen only able to qualify sixth. Max's team mate, Sergio Perez, was knocked out in the first qualifying session, but started in 16th after the two Haas cars were moved to the back of the grid due to a technical penalty. The two Haas cars and the Red Bull of Perez were all involved in a crash on the first lap which brought out a red flag. Alpine's Esteban Ocon was also out on the first lap after a collision with his team mate, Pierre Gasly. Since the red flag allowed all the teams to make their mandatory tire change, most of the race was just about tire management as none of the leaders needed to build a gap for a pit stop. Further down the field there were a few gaps and pit stops, but for the first time I can remember, the top ten finished in the same order they started. Charles Leclerc won his first Monaco Grand Prix for Ferrari with his team mate Carlos Sainz Jr in third. Splitting them was McLaren's Oscar Piastri in second. Off of the podium were McLaren's Lando Norris in fourth, Mercedes' George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in fifth and seventh, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen in sixth. Carlos Sainz Jr was probably the luckiest driver after a small coming together at the start took him out with a puncture on the first lap, but he was allowed to take the restart in third (his original starting position). Monaco is a unique track on the F1 calendar with its tight, historic street circuit, but pit stops, crashes and weather usually give us a more exiting race. Let's hope that the Canadian Grand Prix in two weeks will give us more entertainment and maybe even another different winner. You can watch the highlights here.1 point

I don't know how to internet shop but my wife takes care of ordering it if I do get anything on there. Rosco's Mama had something to say about internet shopping when she was surprised that Rosco got his girlfriend out of a computer....actually, wasn't really the internet back then but it was a funny line.1 point -

All eyes will be on Stenhouse Jr and Kyle Busch tomorrow night. Kyle is probably loving the attention. I mean he starts it and nothing happens to him. Same song, different verse. I hate that NASCAR has become about the fights and wrecks and less about the racing. Even the racing, NASCAR has to have control and their hand in it. It's definitely heading in the wrong direction. Talking about the wrong direction, big change may be coming to teams in NASCAR with charters and all that. It sounds like from what I read earlier (I tried finding the article I read on my phone earlier, but couldn't find them, I think these two are similar to it) is that NASCAR wants to limit charters to teams. Right now each team can have 4 cars if they want or can afford it, but they are looking to downsize that to three cars. Of what I read, is that Joe Gibbs Racing and Rick Hendrick Racing (Chase Elliott's team) may be grandfathered in since they already have four cars. And...Tony Stewart is selling all his charters and leaving NASCAR all together. NASCAR Rumor: Rick Hendrick & Joe Gibbs Bypassing NASCAR’s Wrath Amidst Tony Stewart’s Split Shocks Racing Fandom - EssentiallySports NASCAR Rumor: With SHR's Implosion Imminent, Where Do their Charters Head in the Silly Season? - EssentiallySports Y'all want my two cents worth in all this? Well it's a cold day in you know where when Tony Stewart wants out of the sport all together. I can't imagine NASCAR without Smoke in it. I was never a fan of his when he was racing the 20 car, but did grow to like him better when he drove the 14 and wasn't wrecking everyone and cussing everyone out all the time. But even if he didn't cool his jets, it'd still be hard to imagine NASCAR without him. I am sad to see him go and hope he finds success. And for the charters...they better let Hendrick get grandfathered in. I can't imagine Hendrick without four cars. Well he use to be three car team, until Jeff Gordon talked him into getting Jimmie Johnson to race for them. In turn, Rick Hendrick told Jeff Gordon to put his money where his mouth is. So...Gordon owned half of Jimmie Johnson's car. HA! Well there's my two cents worth whether you wanted it or not...don't go spend it all at the same place. HA! Talking about Hendrick Motorsports...Hendrick driver Kyle Larson will be driving the double tomorrow at the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Hope he sleeps well tonight and races great tomorrow! Garage eager to watch Larson attempt Indy, Charlotte double | NASCAR1 point -

I'm surprised NASCAR didn't suspension him for saying that. Now if he acts on the threat and somebody gets hurt everybody will be blaming NASCAR as much as they blame Stenhouse.1 point -

I can understand your frustration but I suspect NASCAR regards it as a business.....and businesses try to make as much money as possible. If they think more people will be interested in the off track drama than are turned off by it, they will do whatever they can to maximize the publicity. If they think too many people will be turned off by the drama they will minimize it as much as possible. They are likely looking for a happy medium. Too many fights is bad but no off track drama is bad also. That's probably how hockey feels about it too.0 points -
