I've never seen his shows (I'm not sure if they were shown over here), but I'm familiar with him through memes! It's so odd for me listening to Thomas being narrated by an American. The fictional setting of the Island of Sodor is so British (it's meant to be located in the Irish Sea between the English mainland and the Isle of Man). BTW. Last weekend marked the 80th anniversary of The Railway Stories (AKA. Thomas and Friends) - there's an article about it here. At least the music's good to dance to.3 points

I've just spent the evening at a bar (very unusual for me) listening to a couple of local guys playing live music on acoustic guitars. It was a good mix of traditional Irish songs and old favorites. What surprised me was the number of Americans at the bar. The first people I spoke to were from just across the Indiana border from Chicago, but there were three groups from California (Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles), one from Seattle and another from Florida. I know where I live is a popular tourist destination, but I rarely get to speak to the visitors.3 points

I heard that a player had been robbed, but not who it was until after I saw your post. Sadly, there seems to be a trend of attacks in Dublin at the moment. An English tourist was stabbed (but survived) in the same area last week. I don't know if they've caught anyone or announced the nationality of the attackers. By all accounts the NFL game was a success, so it's such a shame that it was marred by an incident like this.2 points -

So, are you going to turn your kit into a Charger Daytona? I don't know much about 3D printing, but www.printables.com has downloadable files for a General Lee including the push bar.2 points -
They used some '68 Chargers in the show, so it's still authentic. The main differences between the '68 and '69 Chargers are the front grille, the rear lights and the side markers. You can sand off the side markers (as they did with the real ones). You can probably fabricate the front grille divider (they had center pieces to clip to '68 grilles on some cars in the show). The tail lights will be trickier to change.2 points

Well fellow Hazzardites, my gut is still bothering me from my operation but the doc says it's looking good but I don't think so. I've been housebound almost a whole month! I get on here every now and then when I can. I'm just having to wait until I can get back to my usual! ( My usual everything!! )2 points -
Well y’all in the past 24 hours, life hasn’t been too eventful but I did go to visit a friend who was staying in town, hung out with her and her doggo. Cute as button, but so strong. That pup pulled me and I’m a full grown man. What happened was she was just going to get something at the nearby convenience store… the dog went nuts and started pulling me along even though I dug my heels in. Guess you just can’t get between a dog and their momma. Lol.2 points

Went to the local GM plant's car show today. Over 300 cars, possibly 400 showed up. One that stuck out for me was a restored Hudson pickup truck. Never seen one before. Since it was invitation only it was pretty much hot rods and muscle cars. They might go back to open registration again next year. Few years ago they had some trouble with a few people and police showed up so that's when they made it invitation only, you have to work there or worked there or know someone that works there that will write you in.2 points

A couple of pieces of F1 news. Firstly, Cadillac F1 recently announced F1 veterans Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will be their drivers next season. Now they've added IndyCar race winner Colton Herta as their test driver. Secondly, Irish driver Alex Dunne gets his second chance to drive an F1 McLaren in the first practice session this weekend at Monza.2 points -

Roger, I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I see your Steelers are playing the Vikings in Ireland this weekend. Although we've hosted college games before, this is the first full NFL game to be played here. Apparently, I missed the Terrible Towel Tour when it came to town earlier this week. They covered eight counties in four days. Max Starks was talking about it earlier on the radio. I don't know if the link will work outside of Ireland, but hopefully you can hear him here.1 point

What shows did you grow up with?

Norm retired from This Old House and New Yankee Workshop. I think he would have made more Yankee Workshop episodes but financing became an issue. According to Wikipedia he has bought a new 'old' house in Rhode Island and is building a new workshop and learning shipbuilding. Roger Cook on This Old House unfortunately got very ill and passed away. They did a special about him. Tom Silva and Richard Trethewey are still on the show though. Since WB/Discovery bought This Old House they changed the format up. Now they show 3 houses a season in about 8 episodes each with 2 new builders across the country. They do one house a season in the Massachusetts area. A lot less showing how things are built though but I get it America has a short attention span these days.1 point -
Got an inch and a half of rain the other night. It'll help but unfortunately next 7-10 days there's barely any rain forecasted. The drought at work has ended too for now. Got slammed with orders this week which is great, hopefully it keeps up for a while so we can build savings back up after the car repair earlier this month. The other night I was able to get a close up picture of a hummingbird hawk moth that was on one of my prairie sunflowers. There was about 4 of them fluttering around the garden. One happened to land on a 5 foot tall flower and sat there long enough for me to get several pics of it.1 point

You are so helpful omg. My dad has a 3d printer so I could probably ask him to help me withsome sort of conversion kit and then that just leaves the painting and decals (which are all in Europe for some reason??) So I hope the international shipping isnt too expensive. And I cant decide if I wanna paint the mechanical bits or not. Do I save money and just cover them up, or say f*** it and have a pretty build1 point -

After a strange qualifying yesterday, it was the Azerbajan Grand Prix today. McLaren could've claimed the Constructors' Championship today, but Drivers' Championship leader Oscar Piastri jumped the start and then fell back to last place. Trying to make up ground, he crashed out on the first lap. Lando Norris also lost a place at the start and another at the restart, but stayed on track. After a record number of red flags yesterday, there were none in the race, and only one safety car for Oscar's crash. Despite a 2km (1.25 mile) straight, overtaking proved tricky due to what are known as DRS trains (several cars in a row within a second of each other with all but the one in front getting reduced drag). Some places swapped at the pit stops, but Lando had a bad stop for the second race in a row. In the end, Max Verstappen had an easy win. Carlos Sainz put up a good fight, but eventually came home third after being overtaken by George Russell. Carlos' third is the first full race podium for the Williams team since 2017. George's team mate Kimi Antonelli was fourth, and Liam Lawson in the RB got past senior team driver Yuki Tsunoda for fifth. Lando eventually finished seventh (where he started), followed by the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. You can see the race highlights here. McLaren will now have a two-week wait until the Singapore Grand Prix to try to take the Constructors' Championship. In the Drivers' Championship, Lando only closed the gap to Oscar by six points.1 point

Last night was the last pro dirt bike races of the year. I watched the first 2 out of 4 but couldn't do the other 2 because I got up at 6 yesterday morning. The races were in Vegas. I'm like Garrett after NASCAR....sad. Or, I will be after watching these last two races I have recorded.1 point -

For once, I'm glad that I wasn't watching the F1 qualifying live. They had a record six red flags and the session that usually lasts about an hour took two hours today. Lewis Hamilton, who thought he might be challenging for pole, failed to make the top 10 and will start in 12th. His team mate, Charles Leclerc, hit the wall in the final session and will start 10th. Not good when practice looked so promising for Ferrari. Championship leader Oscar Piastri also hit the wall and will start ninth. That gave Lando Norris a great chance to start well ahead of his rival, but could only manage seventh as the track got a bit damp. In the end, Max Verstappen took pole, but it was a great session for Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson who start second and third ahead of the two Mercedes drivers. You can watch the highlights here.1 point

Getting pretty dry here. So far the well is holding up but we have no rain in the forecast for at least a week. Been super clear the last month....good for astronomy. And the drought has killed all the mosquitoes so that's good. Unfortunately I hurt my back and haven't been able to ride the trails on the dirt bike.1 point -

F1 was back from its summer break yesterday with the Dutch Grand Prix. Unlike other F1 tracks, Zandvoort has banked curves. Lando Norris was quickest in practice, but his team mate Oscar Piastri claimed pole by 12 thousandths of a second. Local favorite Max Verstappen started third. Oscar kept his lead at the start, but Max got past Lando on the opening lap. Lando got his second place back on lap 9. Rain threatened to disrupt the race, but none of the teams felt the need to fit wet weather tires. However, Lewis Hamilton went slightly wide on one of the damp banked corners and hit the barrier ending his race. It was a bad day for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc also had to retire when Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli clipped his car and spun it off. It looked like being another McLaren 1-2 finish until Lando's engine failed with just seven laps to go. That promoted Max to second behind Oscar and gave RB driver Isack Hadjar his first F1 podium finish. With three of the top cars out, Red Bull, Aston Martin and Haas all had both cars scoring points. With nine races to go, Oscar now has a commanding lead of 34 points over Lando. Most teams will be fitting new engines for next week's Italian Grand Prix at Monza. You can watch the highlights of the Dutch Grand Prix here.1 point

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out. Just to keep you happy, Roger:1 point
