"Now that's a race to remember!" Garrett yells out in celebration while raising his beer glass to cheers with those around him before he eyes Hobie and gives him a nod. He slowly lowers his raised glass and says, "As I'm sure this race will be, too."2 points -
We briefly mentioned it back in 2012, although I've just had to replace the dead video link - see here. The screengrabs I posted are here. To keep things together, here is the video:2 points

All English eyes were on Atlanta earlier tonight. Most of the games are on too late for me to watch, but England v DR Congo was on at 5pm our time, which meant that the match was over halfway through with England 1-0 down by the time I got home from work. Luckily, they pulled it round after the commercial hydration break and won 2-1. Now I have a dilemma - I obviously want England to win, but they're playing Mexico in the next round, and I have Mexico in my work's sweepstakes!2 points

Jesse "It sure would be nice if we figure this out before the 2027 Moonshine 400. Does anybody remember who won the race in '25?" Garrett sounded off, "I believe you did Uncle Jesse. Weren't you racing with your 1923 Ford Coupe?" Jesse snapped back fast. "I mean 2025 you crazy kid. Why would you expect me to remember a 101 year old race when you can't even remember who came in second a half hour ago?"2 points -

I know I've made this comment before, but when one of the satellite channels over here was showing Dukes a few years ago, it was the first time I'd ever seen it with commercial breaks. It was originally shown in the UK on the BBC which doesn't show any commercials, and then I got it on DVD. Other shows like The A-Team, Knight Rider and the Fall Guy were shown on ITV which does show commercials, but not nearly as many as the US.2 points -

Meeting John Schneider
Hobie Hartkins reacted to Webb for a topic
I just wanted to share my experience meeting John Schneider. I bought 2 VIP tickets to one of his concerts that included a photo and 2 signatures per person. At arrival waiting in line to meet John his manager inspects your things and says that die-cast are not included it has to be flat item (CD, License Plate, Photo). We asked why it mattered what the signature went on he said it should've listed on our tickets (but it wasn’t). We drove 12 hours to meet him so I wasn’t leaving without him signing my die-cast general that the rest of the cast members have signed. So needless to say we were charged an extra $100 USD which was unexpected as the rest of the cast only charged me $20. But John was very nice and talked with us and joked around and he will sign items that you buy personally from him. The concert was more of a show n tell stories about Smokey and The Bandit, Jackie Gleason, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings talked about his movies and sing a few songs. But overall we did have a good time and he had his general Lee with him.1 point -

My new favorite thing is watching people from all over the world getting to experience the US for the first time while they're here for the World Cup. I especially love seeing the Tartan Army (seeing as I'm about half Scottish) and the folks experiencing the South (authentic BBQ anyone?). Boston has a large population with Scots-Irish ancestry, as does the South, so it's not surprising they're feeling like kindred spirits.1 point -

I've been to that place with the long name. It's on Anglesey, an island on the north-west coast of Wales not far from where the Irish ferry docks. It's mentioned in the 10 fun facts link that I posted above, which also translates what the name means. It's generally shortened to Llanfair PG.1 point

For those of you not familiar with World Cups, all matches after the first round that end in a draw go to 30 minutes of extra time and then a penalty shoot-out if the scores are still level. This has happened a few times already, but I got to see my first of this World Cup last night and I'd forgotten just how tense they are. I wasn't even supporting either of the teams yesterday (I've watched England in many shoot-outs over the years), but the pressure on the players is immense. Five players take the spot kicks and the side with fewer goals goes home (they go on if they're still tied after five attempts).1 point

Who did you think the Prince and Princess of Wales represented? I gave a quick explanation of the British/Irish countries back in 2014 - see here. England and Wales do share their currency, and the Royal Mint is now located in Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own banks, and the Republic of Ireland uses Euros because it's part of the EU. ETA. The BBC put together 10 fun facts about Wales. It was aimed at kids, but you might find it interesting.1 point

The Dukes of Hazzard related KFC Chicken Potpie TV commercial
RogerDuke reacted to Skipper Duke for a topic
Did anyone else see it? The 2 guys one Blond one Brunette driving an orange 1970 Dodge Charger. They drive into the drive thru jamming to the radio. They drive up to the speaker and the driver the Blond guy says "We'll take 2 Chicken Potpies." 😀 Yeah I know the series didn't use any '70 Chargers only '69 and doctored up '68 with '69 parts on them before anyone points that out to me. But still a cool and Dukes related commercial to me. 😁1 point -

Glad to hear you had fun. Pro dirt bike racers had the weekend off. I'm thinking about trading my dirt bike in for another Ninja. If that happens I'll still pay attention to dirt races but will likely focus more on Moto GP and Moto America.1 point -
Apologies for being a couple of days late with my summary. This week's F1 race was the Austrian Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli was quick through practice, but Ferrari thought they'd locked out the front row in qualifying until Max Verstappen crashed and George Russell managed to take pole despite lifting to pass the yellow flags. The incident in qualifying probably slightly flattered Ferrari, and although the top drivers got away in formation, Charles Leclerc lost two or three places in the opening laps. The hot race at altitude didn't suit Cadillac, and both of their cars were out in the first few laps with overheated brakes. Lewis Hamilton spent a while in second before Max caught him, leading to a great bit of wheel-to-wheel action on lap 11. There was some amazing camera work along the back straight which managed to follow the cars at full speed. I'm guessing it was on a wire. With differing pit strategies and a couple of virtual safety cars, the cars behind George swapped places a few times, but none could pass him, although Max got close at times. At the flag, George was first, followed by Max and Kimi, all separated by only 1.9 seconds. Oscar Piastri took fourth just ahead of Lewis. The result cuts Kimi's lead to 40 points. You can see the race highlights here. Only a few days to wait until this weekend's British Grand Prix.1 point

You are so lucky with that. There were a lot of times where the accidents happened while they were on a commercial break. That is so aggravating. You just see replays of it and then more commercial breaks. It's non stop here...1 point -
World Cup 2026
Garrett Duke reacted to HossC for a topic
When I had time to watch NASCAR a few years ago, any incident seemed to be an excuse for a commercial break. Sometimes, they'd come back from the break, tell the audience that the incident was still ongoing, and go for another break. I sometimes forget how lucky we are over here with much stricter constraints on the amount of advertising that's allowed to interrupt TV shows, although obviously things are a bit different nowadays with many people streaming their shows.1 point -

Garrett turns around as Skipper approaches him and hears him out. He sets his half drank down and gives Skipper a high five. "No need to apologize, Skipper. It was just a race and you were just eager to win the race as everyone was. Skipper sees Garrett, and Uncle Jesse come in. He rushed over to them. "Hey Uncle Jesse. Garrett. Garrett, I'm sorry about cheating and wrecking your car. Hobie Hartkins reacted to Garrett Duke for a topic
Walking into the Boar's Nest with his head down, Garrett sighs and looks up and looks through the crowd before finding Hobie. He makes a slow and long thoughtful walk over to Hobie where he looks up and gives Hobie a confident smile and puts his hand out and says, "Congratulations Hobie on a great race." He surprises himself that he actually means and finds himself buying into Jesse's speech. "But next year, that trophy is coming back home with me." He gives him a smile before he walks over to Bo and Luke who congratulate him on a well raced race. Garrett only shrugs it off before before Jesse and everyone starts asking him if he finished second after Hobie. Garrett shrugs. He'd be ok with second. Just not with the wrecked race car. Taking a deep breath he slowly admits out loud, "I don't really know where I placed," he pauses, "I just knew I wasn't first." He shrugs again before Cooter hands him a beer and he slowly takes a long drink before slowly stating, "I apologize for how I acted and not celebrating with you all for the fun race."1 point -

Life goes fast. I probably posted here once upon a time. I have FINALLY completed a years long process. The General Lee is built from an original MPC kit from 1969 I picked up from e-bay. The previous owner had painted it a gold/copper color back in the day with automotive paint(cannot be stripped/etches itself into the plastic). I came across the Lee 1 story and it was perfect. It took parts from numerous kits and hours of replaying scenes from One Armed Bandit. Stories on the background cars to follow.1 point -
