Which episode was it that Bo was largely not in?  At the end he called home and talked to the Dukes. I think he was doing something with Nascar.

It was 'How to Succeed in Hazzard' (S06E18). Bo's away testing NASCAR engines after Luke lost the coin toss.

How about the one, " Ba Ba Black Sheep", where Sorrel Booke played his own good brother, Abraham Lincoln Hogg? Bo was supposedly off on training with the Marine Corp. Reserve? He missed a couple/three episodes like this, where it was just Daisy and Luke.  I was just thinking about asking you guys a question about this. Do you think John Schneider had trouble with the WB group, like Jimmy Best, Ben Jones etc. had at times or do you think he just needed some time off or was he sick or....? No one here probably knows but it would be interesting to hear what you think.

John Schneider wasn't in 'Baa, Baa White Sheep' because he was filming the TV movie 'Dream House', in which he co-starred with Marilu Henner.

For anyone who's interested, the whole movie is on YouTube (and below). John was midway through Dukes, and Marilu was midway through playing Elaine Nardo in Taxi.

John plays a builder from Conyers, GA who falls for Marilu's character while on vacation. After a brief fling, he gets given the brush-off and returns home. He then decides to pursue her to New York where she works in urban development, driving up in his pickup with its hand-made camper conversion. His pursuit probably borders on stalking, but along the way he gets tricked into buying a narrow strip of land in a rough neighborhood, and vows to use it to build a dream house for the two of them to share.

It's a pretty formulaic TV movie, but the story of an out-of-towner who wins over the city folk mainly reminded me of later movies such as Crocodile Dundee (1986) and Mr. Deeds (2002). For John fans, he has his shirt off for a fair bit of the movie. I was happy seeing Marilu again!

Oh, I remember. That's the one where he talks about building the house with Mississippi Lobloley Pine....I think it is....I always wondered if that was a real tree. 

I'd never heard of it, so after watching the movie, I looked it up.

For its timber, pinus taeda, commonly known as loblolly pine, is regarded as the most commercially important tree in Southeastern US. Read more on Wikipedia.

That Dream House sounds pretty interesting. Imma have a watch when i got some time!

While not really being my sort of movie, it was a fun way to spend an hour and a half of a Sunday afternoon.

That's the way I felt about James Best's bake shop movie. There wasn't much action in it but there didn't have to be. I was just so excited to see him. 

Loblolly…..been a long time since I heard about that! you should've asked me...I used to cut wood for the house AND for a living! Loblolly pine is definitely a real deal!

No, the real "deal" is Scots pine.

Maybe y'all don't have red deal and yellow deal in the US - it's pretty common in hardware stores over here.

 

That show is the only time I've ever heard of it. I'm pretty good with identifying northern trees though. Thanks for posting the picture Hobie.
