February 5, 20188 yr Assuming that you mean Southern US accents (as opposed to Southern Ireland), I think they're liked here, so long as they're not being used to aggressively quote lines from 'Deliverance' . Although Ireland's much smaller than the US in terms of size and population, it still has very definable regions. You may have noticed that the accents video referred to Cork as "The People's Republic of Cork", which is just a nickname implying that it's like another country. I don't know who's currently the butt of the jokes in the US (I'm afraid it was the Irish when I was in the UK), but over here they're told about the Kerryman. I could go on, but you get the idea.

I meant it more as, more groups live closely together meaning the area for multiple accents is smaller. But They merge faster too.
February 6, 20188 yr Author If I ever moved to the southern US I would pick up an accent in days. Charlie Daniels is my favorite male singer and Loretta Lynn is my favorite female. This makes me wonder if some southerners weren't happy when Dukes came out since the accents weren't that strong on the show. Some characters had them but overall I don't think they were very strong.

That's because Bo Duke was a Yankee's Yankee and Wopat was a Yankee and the only REAL Confederate on the show was Jimmy! Sorrel was great at his vocal impressions and sounded southern....remember when he tricked Bo into thinking Bo was his son and he said Bo HAWg! And Rosco said Bo HAWg? and Bo said Bo Hahg?

February 7, 20188 yr Author I was talking to a guy from Tasmania today about his home. I knew it was SE of Australia but didn't know it was part of Australia. The analogy he used was Hawaii is part of the US even though it's an island. Of course Tasmania is closer to the homeland than Hawaii. It's a pretty fascinating place with an interesting history.
February 7, 20188 yr Tasmania is one of the states of Australia, and is only about 150 miles from the mainland. It's also home to the Tasmanian devil - yes, they're real, although they don't look much like the cartoon character!

Arkwright has passed away, and the little shop is now being run by G-G-G-G-Granville, although the hand-eating cash register is named in honor of the former owner.

February 23, 20188 yr I've just remembered another "good guy in a fast Ford, bad guy in a Jag" chase. It's from the 1975 John Wayne movie 'Brannigan'.
