justinpcoltrane
If it had been traditional, there probably would have been an overused laugh track and the show would have tried to be preachy and topical with "very special episodes" Edited April 4, 2016 by justinpcoltrane Added another tag
HossC
The makers of M*A*S*H didn't want a canned laughter track, but the network did. In the end they compromised, and had laughter on most scenes, but never in the operating room. When the series was originally shown in the UK, the BBC broadcast it without the laughter track, which is how I prefer to watch it.

HossC
I think the DVDs let you choose. I have the M*A*S*H: Martinis and Medicine Complete Collection, but one of the channels here still shows two episodes a night, so I haven't had the DVDs out for a while. justinpcoltrane
Could you imagine Dukes with any of the elements I mentioned?
Roth Potter
The Dukes with a laughing track? This isn't all and out Comedy like Mr. Bean where it adds to story. Dukes was classed as a comedy but personally see it as somethign else with added comedy. Hobie Hartkins
justinpcoltrane
I'm just glad that there weren't any "(insert character here) takes pills and gets addicted" or "Daisy is almost sexually assaulted" plots.

RogerDuke
I think there should be laugh tracks on national news programs. Hobie Hartkins and justinpcoltrane

No! Dukes was meant to be a light hearted show that never got TOO heavy and take the viewer to a happy place for a while, away from the mundane!
