February 8, 201313 yr This song was originally released in 1969: I've chosen to post the live version from 1973 because it's the one I have. I know it's over eight minutes long, but it's lost none of its power over the last 40 years!
February 9, 201313 yr Some lovely nature scenes, clips of the band, and a trip through Los Angeles in a gorgeous '65 Ford Mustang - what more do you want?L.A. Woman - The Doors
February 10, 201313 yr - Randy NewmanThis song, especially the video, always makes me a little homesick. Of course, this song was made in the early 80's, when LA had a bit more to recommend itself. LOL. I'm from the South Bay, lived 3 miles from the beach. LOVED to cruise Pacific Coast Highway. *sigh*From the South Bay to the ValleyFrom the West Side to the East SideEverybody's very happy'Cause the sun is shining all the timeLooks like another perfect dayI love L.A.!
February 10, 201313 yr This song comes from the 1975 album 'Rhinestone Cowboy'.Country Boy (You Got Your Feet In L.A.) - Glen CampbellCountry boy, you got your feet in L.A.,But your mind's on Tennessee.I watched a great documentary on Glen a couple of weeks ago. It went from his time in "the Wrecking Crew" right up to the present day, and covered the good times and the bad (he's had plenty of both!).When I watched Garrett's selection of Dream Walkin' by Toby Keith last week, the top YouTube comment was "back when country was country!!!". If the commenter had that thought about a song from 1997, a song like this must blow their mind .
February 10, 201313 yr I'll add a classic for everyone. I had just watched the whole movie yesterday. I'm now in love with it. I also got to see my mom's favorite scene, the volleyball scene.I would tell everyone to go see it in Imax 3D. It looks amazing. The 13th's the last day.
February 10, 201313 yr I'll stick with the mid '80s. A rather large sample of this song was used in a 1993 hit for Utah Saints called
February 11, 201313 yr Another one from the '80s - this one's from 1983:Kissing with Confidence - Will PowersWill Powers was the stage name of photographer-turned-singer Lynn Goldsmith. She used a vocoder to do the spoken parts, but the uncredited lead vocalist was Carly Simon. Reading through the YouTube comments, it looks like Lynn actually replies to them.Should I admit on a public forum that I have the shaped picture disc of this song? It's shaped like a pair of lips - you don't get that with MP3s .
February 16, 201313 yr Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo - Tracy Byrd Should I admit on a public forum that I have the shaped picture disc of this song? It's shaped like a pair of lips - you don't get that with MP3s .Think of all the stuff these youngsters nowadays are missing out on with MP3s and digital downloads. No groovy album art, no special labels, no special colored records. And no shaped picture disc that looks like a pair of lips. They are totally missing out!
February 16, 201313 yr It's not easy to cover a Beatles song and make it better ( appears on their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band), but Joe Cocker managed it. To people of a certain age (OK, my age), this song will also be forever known as the theme from 'The Wonder Years', which is why I went for the studio version. Many versions of his performance at Woodstock are also available on YouTube.
February 16, 201313 yr Of course, there's the Beatles' tune that could fit here or in One Word Songs. and I'll follow that up with... - The Beach Boys
February 16, 201313 yr Back in 1974 this song made it to #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Singles charts. Billy Swan also wrote hit songs for many country artists, including Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, and Mel Tillis, and he played bass guitar for Kris Kristofferson.
February 18, 201313 yr This one could've gone in the One Word song title thread too. LOLHelpless - Glenn Miller and His OrchestraNot a big hit for Miller but a gem nonetheless.
February 18, 201313 yr Seeing as "Help" became "Helpless", it's gonna have to go back to "Help" again . I'm surpised this hasn't come up before: Of course, there's the Beatles' tune that could fit here or in One Word Songs. This one could've gone in the One Word song title thread too. LOLThat's what it's there for .
February 18, 201313 yr Why're you in so much hurry? Is it really worth the worry?Look around. Then slow down. What's it like inside the bubble?Does your head ever give you trouble? It's no sin.Trade it in.Hang on... Help Is on It's Way - Little River Band
February 18, 201313 yr She told me to ... I know the is better known, but I have a soft spot for a bit of bluegrass.
February 21, 201313 yr Ok, this is kind of a stretch, but going off the word "some"...-------- - Bonnie RaittI <3 this song so much. I luuuuurv it! LOL.
February 21, 201313 yr Oh, those less politcally correct times .Nice Legs Shame About Her Face - The MonksThe song was originally only intended as a demo, but made it to #19 in the UK charts in 1979. The title was borrowed when British comedy show 'Not The Nine O'Clock News' performed their parody of early '80s music: Look out for a young Rowan "Mr. Bean" Atkinson in one of his first TV shows.
