Spike got a reaction from Skipper Duke in What shows did you grow up with?
Norm retired from This Old House and New Yankee Workshop. I think he would have made more Yankee Workshop episodes but financing became an issue. According to Wikipedia he has bought a new 'old' house in Rhode Island and is building a new workshop and learning shipbuilding.
Roger Cook on This Old House unfortunately got very ill and passed away. They did a special about him. Tom Silva and Richard Trethewey are still on the show though. Since WB/Discovery bought This Old House they changed the format up. Now they show 3 houses a season in about 8 episodes each with 2 new builders across the country. They do one house a season in the Massachusetts area. A lot less showing how things are built though but I get it America has a short attention span these days.

This one cat we had would, if he was sleeping wake up, or come running from the other rooms when he heard Bob Ross's voice on tv. And he would sit there and watch the whole episode. God help you if you changed the channel lol. When company was over and wanted to watch something different he would protest . Then when the episode was over he'd go back to whatever he was doing before.

Got an inch and a half of rain the other night. It'll help but unfortunately next 7-10 days there's barely any rain forecasted.
The drought at work has ended too for now. Got slammed with orders this week which is great, hopefully it keeps up for a while so we can build savings back up after the car repair earlier this month.
The other night I was able to get a close up picture of a hummingbird hawk moth that was on one of my prairie sunflowers. There was about 4 of them fluttering around the garden. One happened to land on a 5 foot tall flower and sat there long enough for me to get several pics of it.

Does anyone here remember a guy on PBS called Bob Ross?
His voice was so relaxing!

We had 'The New Yankee Workshop' and 'This Old House' on TV in the UK about 20 years ago (I haven't seen them recently). I'll have to check out 'The Woodwrights Shop' - it's a new one to me.

Yep I kinda remember reruns of that guy on my local pbs too I think, and yes George Carlin did do a few seasons with Thomas, lol perhaps this will bring back memories
In addition to Dukes I recently started to collect the vintage diecast models made for the Thomas show. (Ironically made by ERTL as well )

I've never seen his shows (I'm not sure if they were shown over here), but I'm familiar with him through memes!
It's so odd for me listening to Thomas being narrated by an American. The fictional setting of the Island of Sodor is so British (it's meant to be located in the Irish Sea between the English mainland and the Isle of Man). BTW. Last weekend marked the 80th anniversary of The Railway Stories (AKA. Thomas and Friends) - there's an article about it here.
At least the music's good to dance to.

I bought a meteorite yesterday. I always wanted one but never wanted to take the chance of getting one that wasn't real. One of the world's leading meteorite experts lives 20 miles from me and I bought it from him. Pretty cool collector's item.

Finally had some rain here today. Not enough to wet the ground but more is forecasted every day this week.
Hope your back feels better soon Roger.

No but I did watch his show as well. This guy worked only with antique tools. It was The Woodwrights Shop with Roy Underhill. After googling it he was from North Carolina.

Went to the local GM plant's car show today. Over 300 cars, possibly 400 showed up. One that stuck out for me was a restored Hudson pickup truck. Never seen one before. Since it was invitation only it was pretty much hot rods and muscle cars. They might go back to open registration again next year. Few years ago they had some trouble with a few people and police showed up so that's when they made it invitation only, you have to work there or worked there or know someone that works there that will write you in.

Were they cartoon characters driving an orange clunker car and a white convertible Cadillac?

I've just spent the evening at a bar (very unusual for me) listening to a couple of local guys playing live music on acoustic guitars. It was a good mix of traditional Irish songs and old favorites. What surprised me was the number of Americans at the bar. The first people I spoke to were from just across the Indiana border from Chicago, but there were three groups from California (Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles), one from Seattle and another from Florida. I know where I live is a popular tourist destination, but I rarely get to speak to the visitors.

They're currently running the 2024 Camaro body and probably will next season as well.

* Well hopefully I'll be back home at this time tomorrow, if the doctor decides to let me go. If not.....it will be sometime Wednesday! .....hopefully! So if you don't see me on here for a while you'll know where I'm at! Healing up/sleeping it off/drugged up etc.!

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out.
Just to keep you happy, Roger:

Currently, there are no Chevrolet's in NASCAR, and there haven't been for a very long time.

My wife had cataract surgery today and I joined a fantasy football league....just another day in the life of a retired couple.

Met an Australian at the car show yesterday. He was happy to see his homeland cars at the show as Pontiac G8's and Chevy Caprice PPV. Said he loved the Holden commodore he had before he moved to Ohio and wished he could've brought it with him. But he found and bought a 2004 Pontiac GTO which is a Holden Monaro.
Looks like my family's reunion isn't going to happen this year. My one aunt is refusing to go if the other aunt is there and she got her kids to refuse to go as well. I told the wife who was helping plan the reunion might as well just cancel it, no sense in renting a hall for just 30 people. Would have been 50+. This petty BS just reminds me why I like animals more than people lol.

Found out from the neighbor that the cat died the other night, I feel sad that it died alone probably thinking nobody cared about it. At least it's not suffering anymore although it needlessly suffered 2 extra weeks.
