On our way out the door this morning it was -3 degrees F wind-chill/feels like -15 to -20. The stray cats near work made it through, fed them and gave them fresh non frozen water on 1st break. This weekend will feel balmy in the mid 30's.

And forgot to mention last week I sold a house I don't own . I got a message from the niece of this one lady I mowed a lawn for that passed away over the summer. They left a key with me in case of emergency since they all live a few hours away. The niece managed to sell some items and needed me to open the house so the buyers could get the items. The last couple that showed up also asked about the house that was next door because it had a for sale sign. I was honest and told them it needed a total gut renovation. Then I mentioned the house they were standing in was for sale also. Then I played realtor and took them on a tour of the house. They made an offer to the niece and the family accepted.

Dale Earnhardt Jr's JR Motorsports is going cup racing. They will be entering the #40 Chevy in the Daytona 500 with Justin Allgaier driving. Helio Castroneves is also entering the Daytona 500 in the Project 91 Chevy. Mike Wallace on the other hand will not be entering the Daytona 500. In fact they banned him from competing in any NASCAR division series. Reasons unknown but few speculate that he ticked off the NASCAR brass and this is their way of getting back.

Season one and two is good with the songs they played in each episode and the stunt driving. Season 4 got ridiculous, a lot of the over the top stunts you could tell were done with an RC car or model kit car.

With drought conditions like that there's no way you can prevent wildfires being driven by near hurricane force winds. Praying for all those affected. We had a drought here back in summer were we went almost a whole month without rain and the rain we did get during that period was barely enough to wet the dirt. Thank God we didn't have any fires then. The grass here was so dry it was like matchsticks on the ground. I didn't mow lawns for a month. More than made up for the rain deficit in December though, in fact set a new rainfall record for December. We're about to have 72+ hours of temps below 20 degrees starting Sunday, Tuesday night/Wednesday morning is supposed to be -15 for a low possibly setting a new record. Officials are warning people just because it will be that cold not to go ice fishing because the temperature swings we had, yesterday was 40, and will have will make the ice unsafe especially by next weekend when temps will be in the mid 30's again.

Wasn't planning on it and was sleeping nicely till midnight then it sounded like a warzone outside from all the gunshots for 10+ minutes. Browsing the local subReddit and Ring Neighbors we weren't the only ones that heard all the gunshots. I was half expecting to find gunshot holes in our cars this morning from all the racket but luckily there wasn't. Happy New Year

From Jayski's silly season site: 23XI is expanding to 3 teams and poached Riley Herbst away from Ford to drive the #35 Toyota Camry for 2025 Kaulig Racing is changing the #31 to #10 and put Ty Dillon in the seat. Shane Van Gisbergen will drive the #88 Chevy for Trackhouse Racing Justin Haley is moved over to Spire to drive the #7 Chevy Josh Berry will take over the reigns of the Wood Bros #21 Ford Mustang Chase Briscoe will take over the #19 JGR Toyota Camry Michael McDowell is moving to Spire in the #71 Chevy Todd Gilliland is moving to the #34 Ford Mustang. Stewart Haas Racing shutdown and sold 3 charters, though 2 of them are in limbo with the 23XI and Front Row Racing lawsuit against NASCAR. Haas kept the final charter and will have Cole Custer drive #? Ford Mustang, it will be a RFK satellite team. RFK Motorsports bought the 3rd SHR charter and expanded to 3 teams with Ryan Preece in the #60 Ford Mustang. 23XI and Front Row Racing won an injunction against NASCAR in the latest twist in the lawsuit. Next Court date is January 8th. It isn't known how the 3 company's will continue however Honda will have controlling interest of the new company. I expect most of Honda's lineup to stay unchanged, Nissan will probably focus on Trucks and SUVs and possibly sports cars, Mitsubishi will probably be retired or remain as cheap compact car brand.
