From what I read at a DVD site, the DVD for the movie will be released before Christmas in the PG-13 theater version and an "R" or an unrated version. So there are obviously things that were filmed and in the script that were cut out ot make it PG-13. So the stuff that Ben Jones didn't like mostly will come out in the unrated DVD version of the movie probably.

The last article I read is that they pushed the release up a month to late June instead of July.

I think the core values of the film will match the original...but that's about it...lol It seems more like Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit combined since Roscoe will be competent this time around...lol But you have to go into it knowing this will be different from the series in some aspects and treat it seperately. Go into it with a fresh mind and if it's a good film, enjoy it for what it is...but it won't be The Dukes Of Hazzard we all loved. Similar but not the same. Not sure when the movie will be released...but if it can pull in at least $100 million in it's run, that would be great. That would probably be enough for the studios to go forward with a sequel. But it will have to be word of mouth that fuels this film...because we know the critics will not like it....lol

I think that no matter who they casted in the movie, we would all say they could never equal the original cast. So, since the original cast is not in it, we would be disappointed in whoever they picked. And it didn't help that the last Dukes Reunion film was awful. That wasn't the cast fault, it was the script. The first was great. So the studio, fearing that the movie would get the same reception that the reunion show did, probably forced the current cast on the film makers. "You can make the movie, but you must get people the current teens will relate to." To the current teens, Bo Duke is Clark Kent's father and is probably uncool. We have to remember.....even though Dukes of Hazzard was #1 in it's time slot every year but one....it was hated by critics and everyone else. And the fans that watched are in their 30's and 40's now...and that age group doesn't drive the big ticket sales at the box office. In a recent BBC poll in England, Dukes Of Hazzard was rated as one of the Top 10 worst imports from the United States. So as much as we hate the current cast....it was the only way we would ever get a mainstream theatrical film out of it. And no matter who they cast, it would pale in comparison to our love of the original. So for the movie to make any money, they would have to cast who they did. Because it would be a critical bomb no matter which cast they put in it.

Maybe should be more like Uncle Jesse's daughter.....lol Lynda Carter can't be that old...lol

Not sure if this was brough up yet or not....haven't seen it here...but browsing over at IMDB.com and they had some casting information in there I had not seen yet. The main surprise was Lynda Carter of Wonder Woman fame. She is in the movie as Pauline, I believe. A couple of other folks who I had not heard of before...but there is a picture of a blonde girl on the main page who is in the movie. Anyway, didn't know if ya'll knew of Wonder Woman being in the film....

I read an article a couple of weeks ago (on a Country music page..maybe CMT)....and it stated Dolly was offered the part of Daisy's mom but turned it down due to other committments.

The original cast was great and for us, can never be replaced. The problems with the show when it originally aired were not the actors, it woudl be the writing in the later years. In a new poll, I saw at a website this week, a British poll was released with what the British citizens saw as the worst TV exports of all time from America was. # 1 was Baywatch. And # 3 was The Dukes Of Hazzard. lol So as much as we love the original show and cast, I don't think the original cast would be able to bring in the numbers in the theatre to justify the movie. The original TV reunion movie was, I thought, well written and executed by all. I loved it. The second TV reunion was just horrible. Horrible script. And to Hollywood execs, the ratings for that second one would be more fresh on their mind.

I'm going to guess Forrest Gump....lol Since that's the only movie I can think of off the top of my head that Enos was in...lol

I would tend to think the flag will be on the car. Like he said, the major retail chains are selling the product with the flag intact. Trust me, if Wal-Mart wanted a cover with no flag on it, they would have gotten it...lol Also, as stated, my friends who love the show and are minorities, have no problem with it either. I think in this case, the spirit of the show and the family values of the show makes the flag a second thought. When you watch the show the flag does not stick out because the other parts of the show shine brighter. Now if the movie turns the characters into charictatures of themselves, then I could see how this could change.

That would be too funny if that guy was in the back seat the entire time...lol

I can see the point of view from both sides. The Flag was a part of the car and the car was a major part of the show. However, I can see that some people would have a problem with the symbol. Because so many hate groups have used that symbol to remind people of a time in the past. And I can see the point of view where people will say it is about the heritage and not what a pitiful minority wants you to think it is. It's a debate with no clear winner of an answer. I do have friends who love the show as much as I do (and are different ethnicities) and all love the show and the flag doesn't bother them. However, in the end, the spirit of the show came from the love of a family and the values that the family chooses to uphold. So if the car does or does not have the flag on top of it, it won't change the spirit of the show. It would be nice to have the flag on top of the car.....but that's not why we fell in love with the show in the first place.

I just think Andy would be great because he already has that connection with the audience. Most people would already view Andy as that type of family patriarch that would give him instant credibility. Most of his acting parts were down home country types....which would be great with Jesse. And it would be a nice touch as well since he personally worked with Denver Pyle those many years ago. If you get past the height issue, then Burt could be a good Boss Hogg. That character needs someone who can be deceitful but likeable at the same time. And that sounds like Burt...lol If Burt can't be Rosco....then it would be amusing to some if they could get Jerry Reed to play Rosco...lol See Burt and Jerry back together again. But James Best was so perfect in the part, it's hard to think of anyone else for Rosco. Has to be a comedian who can also do dramatic parts. And Jerry Reed has worked with basset hounds in the past...lol But he's probably too old for the part by now I would imagine. Maybe they could give the part of Rosco to Tom Wopat...lol But Randy Quaid would work as well too. Jim Belushi? nah...lol I would like to see Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr, Clint Black.....or someone like that as the balladeer.

Now I could see Randy possibly as Enos. But I don't see Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg. Maybe Danny Devito...lol But I do see Burt Reynolds as Sheriff Rosco. That would work well in my little opinion. Uncle Jesse could be Kenny Rogers...but I think they should try and get Andy Griffith. Andy could be a good addition for that particular role. Not sure about Andy with a beard...lol
