  1. Welcome to H-Net. These are best darn folks on the 'net and the BEST damned (sorry for the cuss) Dukes site out there. Enjoy yourself around here, read a good story from the fanfic section. there are some really good ones by great , enthusiatic Dukes fans. Maybe we will catch up sometime. I'm gone Darrell
  2. Given the demos that the movie attracted, Divia is right that it will be geared towards that.... Young adult males, cars, sex , perfect for SPIKE, but not ABC Family... We will see what happens. It seems a little too early to tell right now. Maybe after the intial sales of the DVD are released then we can get some more progress. I'm gone Darrell
  3. I thought that might surprise some around here..... Even my kids and wife didn't like this one. They thought the all the sex jokes and such was inappropriate especailly for the Family Channel. They like the series and the 2005 movie , but this was bad according to them. And that is from a 16 and a 12 year old. Darrell
  4. This might come as a bit of a shock..... I have to agree 110% with Tim. I thought the Direct-To-DVD /ABC Family channel movie was horrible. I only watched about 40 minutes Sunday and watched the rest on DVR a couple of days later.... This is where I will get questioned. I feel the 2005 movie had a better chemistry between the actors. I got that feeling . This movie on ABC Family had way too many innuendos for that channel. Too much sex talk. The story on finding the GL in the pond was too farfetched to me. Cooter was a total mess in the movie, didn't know what he was. I just don't know about this one. I had absolutey NO expectations about this movie since it was announced. Made wise a** comments most of the time and I guess I was right. Bad script, mediocre acting , basically no stunts, low budget. At least to me I still can enjoy the 2005 movie.... I'm gone Darrell
  5. They did with Dallas it was called Dallas:The Early Years. It showed how the Ewings and Barnes were wildcatters drilling for oil and the start of Ewing Oil and the start of the Ewing/Barnes fued.. After reading your post , I can see that as great idea. Show the Hogg/Duke family friend and relationship from the beginning and what happens. Some stories about the early days of the Ridgerunners and maybe some stories about all the cousins parents and such..... Divia, Ithink you hit on something big. I'm gone Darrell
  6. Yo Tim Suderow...... I know you were referring to me in this post and a previous one about someone with the same rank as Captain D.... When have I have ever said I was PRO 2007 movie? I haven't , but you have failed to grasp that. I have always made wise comments about it being a Direct-To-DVD movie. So move on from that. As far as you putting down people for liking the 2005 movie , you called people not "true" Dukes fans. You tried to put yourself on a pedestal about being a Dukes Fanatic and trying to show off that you own a General Lee and you know this person and that person. Yada yada yada. You are nothing special and never will be. As far as what I thought of the movie. When I have more time... I'm gone Darrell
  7. I prefer "Winston Cup" racing , much better than 'Nextel Cup" ...... I was happy that some drivers ( Jeff Gordon , who I can't stand and Tony Stewart , my favorite) when interviewed at Daytona a few weeks ago emphasized that they were Winston Cup champions along with being Nextel Cup champions. They showed there is a difffernece and a prestige that went along with Winston Cup...... Who knows what it will be called in 08 after Sprint/Nextel merger is complete and the sponser contracts are fullfilled. What are we going to have a name for the so-called chase " Sprint for the Nextel Cup" ....
  8. That might be true, then again it might not. What worked on TV in the early 80's might not have translated well to the mid 2000's. Times have changed, tastes have changed , attitudes have changed. Sure morals and a family atmosphere will never change, but that doesn't translate into the almighty dollar that is running big business. We can have this "debate" till Kingdom Come about the movie doing better but it doesn't change the fact that it made money for WB and the people made it. Back off on the Star Wars comment. After all that was a continuation of a movie and was set to include sequals or basically the next chapter in the series. It WASN"T a remake . Superman was the basically the same way. Superman Returns was a Hollywood diappointment compared to what they had hoped. And that one was "true" to what Superman was. That statement is not correct - if you refuse to buy what YOU want then it gets changed back(not really quoted ). As far as the DOH that statement is far from accurate. I think it brought more people back to the original series. From there they can make their own judgements about what they like. It was good to see someone's take on the show. Didn't matter if it was right or wrong, it got talked about in the DOH fan community and will continue to do so. Like I have said numerous times - the synergy built between the movie and the series on CMT helped each other . The movie got tons of publicity and the series got tons of exposure and was brought back to the forefront of "classic" TV. There are ebbs and tides in business. 2005, the Dukes was riding the crest of the wave because of it. If people are going to continue the talk about the movie or the upcoming Direct-To-DVD movie then it's job is done, no matter how bad or good it is. You will people and fans alike that will view it out of curiousity or because it has the name and the General Lee in it. Like I have said over and over " Nothing will ever beat the original" , but I still loved the 2005 movie. I'm gone Darrell
  9. Y M C A So what if it is off topic. Come on now . Have a little fun. I will take a good Margarita or maybe do some Tequilia shots........
  10. I bet you are going to have some fun doing this........ Go to the Conferate General Lee Fan Club and go through the boards over there about making a GL. There are numerous "debates" on the color and interior.... I am sure the people over there will be helpful. Thay are a great bunch in the detail of a GL.. http://www.cglfc.com/wforum/ I'm gone Darrell
  11. Here's a monkey wrench into the theory that the General Lee would win... The General Lee was a stock car with a motor that has been worked over. The General is essentially a built hot rod, motor(didn't they use a Richard Petty motor?), brakes, etc.... The Bandit T/A is a factory showroom car. Nothing changed or altered. What you got off the showroom floor is what was driving..... Given that, you really can't say who would win. I'm gone Darrell
  12. Wishing everyone here and their families at HazzardNet a very Merry Christmas. I hope Santa brings lots of goodies to everyone. We got through another year and the Holidays are upon us. It is a time to reflect that we are fortunate enough to spend it with family and friends. Some of us aren't that lucky but they are in our prayers and thoughts. I hope everyone here has a good time and wish you nothing but happiness. Merry Chrstmas Ya'll Darrell
  13. Since some of us can't be "True" DOH fans (unless we are fanatics ) if we want to see the movie and judge for ourselves. This isn't asking if you are going to buy it, just see it. You don't have to like what they are doing and the movie will probably be not on par as the 2005 movie because of the budget. But maybe you want to see it just out of curiousity or to see the General Lee in a movie again. Whatever reason is yours. After all this is HazzardNet - the best Damn Dukes site out there. No cliques or fragmented circles. We are all friends here. First round is on me at the Boar's Nest..( idea for MaryAnne, Mufn, "Brian" - have a section called the Boar's Nest where we can act like it is Happy Hour there, sort of just a section to say hello , small talk and see who is hanginmg out online) just a thought. I'm gone Darrell
  14. Not to sound off-base but here is another....... Bo & Luke - "Brokeback Mountain"esque
  15. TimDuke from the CGLFC board http://www.cglfc.com/wforum/viewtopic.php?t=11342&start=0 "Like I said on Jon Hollands board,if I want to see the beginning I'll just watch "Happy Birthday General Lee "again. Thats the only beginning as far as I'm concerned. Boy I need you guys to be on Hazzardnets message board.I posted the info about the rated R thing on there and my total distaste for it and I got my gluteus maximus reemed out. Seems almost every one there is all for this crap." Tim Just read where almost everyone here is for the new direct-to-DVD movie. That has nothing to do with it. Nobody has stated they are , they just want to see it. It is the way you go about getting your point across. I have gotten into disagreements with you about this quite a few times in the past. And as you can see others on here feel the same way too. Look at ther thread on CGLFC board that you answered the quote on . I t got out of hand about a mispelling about a fart. Do you get on those who want to have some fun? Like I said you don't have to consistantly state your distaste in EVERY single thread and say the same crap everytime someone says something you don't like. You do it on every board and say the same crap. I originally answered this thread hoping to have some fun like in the other thread but you felt I was getting on you and took it to another level. And it wasn't me who took exception to your rhetoric either. Just get off your soapbox and have some fun. This is HazzardNet.... I'm gone Darrell
  16. Doesn't have anything or anyone listed as a balladeer/narrator on IMDB. Look at the 05 movie , a Balladeer wasn't "announced" til late , when the movie was about to come out..... Maybe they will have one soon. I'm gone Darrell
  17. Y M C A It's Fun To Stay At The Y M C A Come on now sing along and make this thread as fun as the other one. You know you want to. Anyway the movie doesn't come out for at least a few more months. Who knows , things change. Darrell
  18. Just saw the Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Extravaganza last Saturday night here on Long Island. What an awesome show. Brian Setzer doing his big band/swing renditions of Christmas classics and some good ol' rock ( Stray Cats ) thrown in. The atmosphere and the people made this special. Seeing the big band play along with the bandleader ( Brian Setzer on his famous Gretsch guitar) was one of the best concerts I saw. The best part was the Nutcracker Suite with all the horns and guitar. The stage was decorated with X-mas stuff adn the band was in holiday clothes, especially the female back up singers in little red Ms. Claus costumes. I pointed them out to my wife a few times ( which was no-no) , but they sang good. Just a great time . My wife usually takes my girls to the Radio City Christmas show and loves that. But she love the rockin' vibe adn the big band sound of this ..... I'm gone Darrell

  24. I spent Veteran's Day at Calverton National Cemetary On Long Island. My dad is buried there. Then I watched The Great Escape on DVD last night. He was a vet of WWII and a prisoner in German POW camp at the end of the war. He was a tank commander in the 12th Armored Div. - 43rd Tank Bat. He was captured on the French / German line fighting on the Berlin in Jan 1945. He ended up a ta couple of different POW camps along the way. What I wouldn't give to have him back telling some of his stories again. Darrell
