  1. "Mama...Can we stay here? I don't want to go back to Tennessee." Heather begs. Lizzy looks around the room and then sighs. "Do I even get a choice?" Lizzy asks.
  2. Heather hugs him and then she turns to the last man in the room. "That must make you my Uncle Jesse. I like you. You look like Santa." Heather says.
  3. "Pleased to me you Heather I'm your Uncle Bo and there is your Uncle Luke." Bo says. "Go say hi to your Grandpa Cooter and your Uncle Jesse." Lizzy whispers. Heather climbs off the end of the bed and walks over to Cooter. "I'm Heather." She says sticking her hand out.
  4. "Hey it's up to y'all. She just wants to know if it's alright to call you Aunt Daisy and Uncle Enos even though she knows you're her second cousins and not her aunt and uncle." Lizzy says.
  5. Heather looks up and waves. "Hi everyone." She says. "So...I've got cousin's?" "Everyone in this room except for Uncle Jesse, Cooter, Earl, and Jeb are you're cousin's doll but..." Lizzy trails off. "I think I'll like them better as aunts and Uncles. Except for these two and those two over there." Heather says. "If that's alright with you all."
  6. "Of course...Um Everyone this is Heather. My daughter." Lizzy says. "Our daughter." Jeb says. "Yeah that. Jeb is her father and she's the reason I ran. I got pregnant and I got scared. For that I apologize to everyone." Lizzy says. "Uh Heather...I want you to meet your family. That's Bo, Luke, Daisy, Enos, Uncle Jesse, your grandfather Cooter, and Julie." Suddenly Heather because very shy and looks down hiding behind her hair.
  7. "I would really hope you didn't. I'm sorry I didn't tell you but I figured you'd tell Jeb and I didn't want to face him then. I'm not going anywhere at least...Not for a while." Lizzy says.
  8. "I...I want to so bad but...I'm scared." Lizzy says. "Scared or not Davenport. I will have you and my little girl. I can guarantee you that one day I will have you falling asleep in my arms every night and waking up in them every morning with our little girl and kids down the hall. I will have just as soon as I can get it through that pretty head of yours that you belong with me." Jeb says in her ear. "Prove it." "The longer you stay in Hazzard the easier it will be for me." Jeb answers. "If you say so." Lizzy says then walks back to Daisy. "Do you hate me now?" Lizzy asks. "Now that you know why I ran?"
  9. Lizzy turns to look at him when they're far enough from the room. "God...Everything seems so simple when you're a kid. Heather made this sound so easy but now...I can't think of a thing to say to you." Lizzy says.
  10. "Would you shut up and listen to me boy?" Lizzy snaps. "I'm not allowed to leave. Daisy won't let me hell my boss won't let me. How I ended up working for that cousin of yours, Coy Duke, still boggles my mind. We need to talk about...well...not here. Outside." Lizzy says.
  11. Lizzy puts her face in her hands and sighs. "I've always taken your side even when you were wrong because I know how tough it can be Lizzy." Luke says placing a hand on her shoulder. "I know you don't want to do the right thing it means admitting you were wrong but...you're pride will heal and think of it this way you don't have to run any more. He's offering the best life he can give you, one where you'll have both your best friends as cousins-in-laws and a true honest once in a lifetime love. He can give you everything you want all you have to do is say yes and let go of your pride, let go of the ego and say yes." Lizzy looks up at Luke and a dam just breaks. For once Lizzy thought with her heart and offered a hand to Jeb. Everyone waited with baited breath to see what he was going to do.
  12. "Six." Lizzy snaps. "Almost seven." Heather answers. "That doesn't excuse you from calling me stupid." Lizzy says. "Well you are. Daddy can give you everything you want and you don't want it because it would mean admit you're wrong. I've heard everyone talking Mommy. Just because I'm a little kid doesn't mean I'm stupid Mommy. I want my daddy but I don't want to lose you so here's the ulti...ultimat...Uncle Earl what's that word?" "Ultimatum." Earl supplies. "Yeah that word. Here it is. If you don't make things up with Daddy and try to fix this then...I'm going to live with...Uh..." "Grandpa Cooter." Earl hisses. "Yeah I'm gonna go live with Grandpa Cooter or Uncle Jesse." Heather says. "You planned that." Lizzy says "Her idea I swear it." Earl says.
  13. "Mommy, mommy did you hear that? Daddy still loves you and now we can be a really family just like Chrissy's. That is unless you're too stupid to see what's right in front of you." Heather says. "Heather Daisy Davenport," Lizzy starts. Heather's lower lip starts to tremble and her eyes get really big. "Do not give me that puppy dog pout, I invented that pout. Get over here." Lizzy lays Rachelle in Enos' arms then knelt in front of her daughter. "I'm sorry Mommy." Heather says.
  14. "You're not mad at Mommy are you? Between you and me...don't tell no one kay? She still loves you you know. I hear her crying sometimes when she thinks I'm asleep." Heather says sniffling a bit and looking up at Jeb. Lizzy swallows and looks at Jeb waiting for him to answer.
  15. "She doesn't look a thing like me." Lizzy answers. "She gets it all from him." She nods to Jeb. "Please say something." "You are my daddy aren't you?" Heather asks batting her big brown eyes at him.
  16. Lizzy grins then sees movement in the doorway. "Earl? What are you doing here?" "I told you I'm done lying. I got a call from Mr. C. Duke this morning and well here we are." Earl answers. "Please don't." Lizzy starts but it was too late. Heather stepped around Earl and the minute brown eyes met Brown everyone knew. "Daddy." Heather called running to Jeb and throwing her arms around him. Lizzy looked down at the baby knowing everyone would hate her know that they knew the truth.
  17. Lizzy nods and takes the baby expertly cradling her. "You look like a pro." Bo comments. "Er...thanks." Lizzy answers. "She looks a little like Enos."
  18. Lizzy sizes each one up then looks back at Kathy. She takes a good look at her then at Luke and nods. "Don't worry about Luke he really does love you. He's all yours. I don't want him and yes I do understand why he did what he did. I won't come between the two of you." Lizzy says.
  19. "I...I uh...I'll try to stay. I'm gonna have to go back up there in a couple of days but...other than that I don't think I'm gonna be leaving. Am I gonna whack that girl over the head? My god what happened? And uh...who are you three?" Lizzy asks pointing to Katy, Kathy, and Aaron.
  20. Daisy continued to talk to her and calm her until Lizzy was mainly calm. A knock on the door brought the girls back to reality and they turned to see Enos standing there. "It's good to have you back, even if it is only for a few hours." Enos said. "Enos...please don't." Lizzy said softly. Enos nodded and walked into the room. "I should go. I'll be back in a few hours." Daisy nodded dragging a promise out of her and then Lizzy left. She wandered the halls and then found her way out to her car. Right as she reached the trunk a hand grabbed her arm and she was spun around. She barely had time to see his brown eyes and blond hair before a hand was slid into her hair and she was kissed thoroughly. Finally Lizzy got enough strength and pushed him away. "What the hell?" She spat. "Deny it all you want but only Lizzy Jackson-Davenport can kiss like that." The man said. "My cousins told me you were back, hell even Rosco and Kathy did but...Damn they were right." "What are you talking about?" "Look at me Elizabeth. I know you left me and I know you were upset when you left...I don't even know why you left...That never changed how I felt about you. I loved you then and I love you now. The saying is true Lizzy absences makes the heart grow fonder. Kathy told me you told Hughie that you left because you made a mistake...my mind has been going through every kind of mistake we made but I can't come up with anything. The pieces sort of lead to you being pregnant but...there was only one night it could have happened. You were 21 Lizzy no one would have cared if you turned up pregnant. I love you so much...I wish you could see it." Jeb says running his hand through her hair. "Please let me go." "Tell me you understand, please tell me that you remember. That you know who I am and you aren't going to pretend that you don't." "I want to so bad but...I can't. Looking at you now I can't say that I don't know, that I don't want to know you...I love you so much Jeb but...things changed and I had to leave." "There is still hope then?" "No." "There has to be you said you love me not that you loved me. You used present tense there is still hope at least in your subconscious." "In my dreams yes. In my reality no." "Why can't there be? I was going to propose that night. Our last night together I was going to tell you how much I love you and...hoped that you felt the same then I was going to propose. Before I could though...you told me you were leaving." Jeb says sadly. "I..." "Ask your father. I dare you. I took him to lunch two days prior to that and asked his permission. Hell I even asked permission from your step-father and Bo and Luke just to make sure. Daisy and Julie both gave me a right good ribbing until I told them what I was going to do. Everyone in Hazzard knew. Everyone except you. Go ask your father. I'll wait right here so you know I wouldn't have coerced him into it. Make it sound random. You know how to work him to get the truth." Jeb dares. Unable, still, to turn down a direct dare or challenge Lizzy pushes Jeb away and storms back into the waiting room then into Daisy's room to find almost everyone sitting there to include a new guy she hasn't met before. She looks around then spots Cooter. "You love me don't you?" Lizzy asks glaring at Cooter. "More than anything and anyone in this world." Cooter replies. Lizzy glances over her shoulder and seeing nothing she continues. "Would you lie to me?" She asks. "On my mother's grave I couldn't." Cooter replies. "Swear to me he took you out and asked for my hand." Lizzy says knowing that if it was true Cooter wouldn't just swear but would also state what she was leaving out. Just behind Cooter Lizzy saw Jeb step up and look at her. "I swear on Diablo's life and my mother's grave that Jeb took me to lunch two days before you left and said in these exact words, "Cooter we've been friends for years but I've found myself falling farther and farther in love with your daughter. I would love to have you're permission to marry her". I told him then and there that he had not only my permission but also my blessing if he could get you to agree. And he told me "Good because even if you didn't give your permission I was gonna marry her anyway". I found out that a few days earlier he had told the same thing too David Jackson, yes your step-father, who told him the final permission rested with me. Girl you were out of your mind to leave." Cooter said confirming Lizzy's fears and Jeb's warnings. "God I'm an idiot." Lizzy mutters.
  21. "She's six years old Daisy. Almost seven. God Daisy...Jeb's gonna hate me. She looks so much like him. Big brown eyes, his blonde hair...god I can't see how he won't hate me." Lizzy says.
  22. "It's not ok Daisy. When I left Hazzard so long ago I didn't go alone. I kept his daughter from him and now he hates me." Lizzy cries.
  23. Lizzy climbs up from the floor and crawls into the small bed with Daisy. "I'm so sorry and you don't even know what for." Lizzy says softly laying her head on Daisy's shoulder.
  24. "God I'm so sorry. So sorry...can you ever forgive me? I shouldn't have left I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Lizzy says.
