Luke knew all of Sheriff Littles cars were built to run! Fortunately for him the Sheriff had just never been able to hold the powerful cars in the road. Luke knew to loose him he'd have to out drive him, plain out running him would not be an option. Luke spotted a corn field up ahead. He hoped by leading Sheriff Little into it he could stir up enough dirt to put up a dust cloud and buy him some time. Driving this load in the General Lee had been a neon sign that a Duke was out of their County. Every law enforcement person in a dozen Counties knew this car and knew its drivers weren't suppose to be out of Hazzard County without written permission from their probabtion officer which of coourse Luke didn't have. Luke checked his mirrors He was stirring up a lot of dust but Sheriff Little was still back there! Luke tried to think. If he recalled correctly there was a river near here. He swung back out to the road and began driving toward where he hope the river was. Luke had hoped to drive through the near empty river bed to deter Sheriff Little but when he got there he saw the large river was running near its banks. There would be no going through that. Luke turned away from the river, he drove back into the field for quiet some distance Sheriff Little was right behind him even managing to hit the General's back bumper from time to time. Luke swung around suddenly heading towards the river again. This time he headed the General towards a fallen tree. When Luke hit the tree at that speed he was air born. The General jumped the creek, landing back end first due to the heavy load in the trunk. Sheriff Little managed to also jump the creek. The chase continued......

"Luke I intend to talk to all the parties involved in this. I understand from the Troopers the charges may change." Judge Hardcastle began as he took a sip of his drink. Luke had taken his drink and set it on the table. He surely didn't want to seem over eager for it. Luke smiled a sick smile and shook his head, "From what I could hear last night when Luther Davenport came to pick up Dixie, yeah, he wants the book and the bookcase it is on thrown at me!" "That's my understanding too." The Judge asked, "How long have you known Miss Davenport?" "Dixie? Since we were small kids. She has lived with her Mother out of here until last summer." replied Luke. "This isn't a test or anything. Drink up." The Judge motioned to Luke's untouched drink. "Did you know she was younger than you?" the Judge asked. Luke took a sip of his drink before answering. "Well, everyone knows she is Cooter's 'little sister' but he is older than me. She had been talking about a birthday coming up. Saying things like, 'after this birthday maybe I can make my own decisions about things like staying here.' Now, I know my last big birthday when I could do a lot more things than I had before was my 18th one. With her appearance, actions, and statements I just knew she meant her 18th birthday." Luke gave a weak smile, "Yeah, this time I assumed one He-- of a lot!" "Yes, I'm afraid you did. You mean to tell me as long as you have know Ms. Davenport you didn't know her age?" asked the Judge. Luke thought a long moment before answering. He was trying to word his response just right. "You said you have known my Uncle Jesse for years. Do you know how old he is?" Luke watched the puzzled look on the Judge's face. When Luke saw his expression change to where Luke was certain the Judge did not know Jesse's age, he continued, "Ms. Meade has been your secretary for years and years. Is she older or younger than you?" Luke's point had sunk in. Judge Hardcastle said, "You do realize the three of us went to school together. You have a point. I don't know who's older or how old they are, but ....." Luke interupted, "I know that it is not important for you to know. I was just making a point." Now the Judge got to the meat of the discussion. "Were you both willing?" Luke said matter of factly, "Yes. Between you and me she made the first move on me. Everything that happened was my fault. I let it happen. I should have known better. He--, I did know better!"

Though Beth and Bo knew everyone in Hazzard it wasn't often she asked anyone to watch any of the kids. Ususally it was when she was having another little one, but tonight was different. She had given Jesse permission to stay at a friends. Bo, Jr. was with Bo, Luke and the others, 'God help us!'. She had arranged for Caroline and Michaela to stay with a neighbor for the night. She figured Ruth Ann was old enough to be home tonight. Beth, Daisy, Debbie were the instigators in giving Dixie a bridal shower. Beth had even asked Dixie to take the girls to the neighbors so things could be set up. When Beth returned there were several cars she didn't recognize and several more that she did! Thanks to Debbie several other girls from where they worked before Dixie asked for a transfer had came to Hazzard to wish her and Luke well. After the initial surprise, Beth and Daisy served cake, punch and other goodies. Then it was time to get on to the good part -- the presents! Dixie was a little uneasy because quiet frankly she did NOT trust her friends -- well at least not to try to embarrass her! The first present was from Ruth Ann, Caroline and Michaela. Dixie figured to open it first because surely this would be the safest present. She had to smile widely when she opened the box. It was two hand made blue lacy garders much like the one Luke had caught at Bo's wedding so long ago. They had both their names on it as well as the date. She smiled at Ruth Ann, "They are perfect! Thank all you girls!" Ruth Ann explained, "One is for Uncle Luke to throw the other is for him to keep!" Next was Jessica and Laura's gift. They had went in together for. It was a clothes basket stuffed with paper with the top covered with wrapping paper. Once Dixie removed the wrapping paper things were much clearer. The basket was filled with things the girls knew Dixie didn't have (at least not new) at the apartment. In side was several cooking utensils, ice trays, magnets for the frig, all sorts of cleaning and other useful items which surrounded a set of sheets, dish towels and in the center was the sexiest white bra and panty combo that would be perfect to wear with her wedding gown. Dixie said, "I love this! These are things I haven't had time to go get!" The girls from work knew that Dixie had been a very conservative person. They couldn't talk her into going out at all while they worked together. Yes, these girls didn't know Dixie well. They did know she was a workaholic and with her crazy hours as well as the craziness of Lukes schedule they figured a crockpot would come in very handy. Dixie noticed the box had been resealed. "Open it and look at it!" said one of her co-workers. Dixie was getting worried. When she took it out it had strawberry designs on it. She had always had her kitchen in strawberries but the top of the crockpot looked strange. She lifted the top to find a black lace teddy. Dixie didn't blush easily she was thankful. "Well, you all know how to get to the things that are important to Luke! Are you all sure you haven't met him?" She smiled. 'Three down three to go!' thought Dixie. She still had to open presents from Daisy, Beth and Debbie! Cue Beth -

"Weeeelllllll, I'll be!" Cooter smiled. "Luke, I'll let you slide just this time! Now, let me see if I can get over there to Bo." Luke took a drink of his beer and sighed, 'I'm sure glad the cats out of the bag!' The whole crew managed to have a great time that night. Everyone danced some and drank some. Bo made a point when one slow song came on that he excused himself from Beth. He walked over to her Mother who was tlaking to Jesse, "Mrs. Smith would you do me the honor?" She was slightly surprised but hide it well, "Yes. Thank you." Bo took her by the arm and escorted her to the dance floor. He started to dance being the utmost gentleman he knew how to be. Jesse followed Bo's lead, going to Beth. For several minutes there was no one else on the floor except for Jesse and Beth, and Bo and Mrs. Smith. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Daisy nudged Luke. "You go get Dixie. I'll get Cooter." Soon the other two couples joined the others in the dance. After the dance Luke, Cooter, Mark, Dixie and Daisy slipped outside to decorate the General Lee. Dixie's job was to take white shoe polish to the inside windows of the General and write, "Just Married" and "Bo and Beth" on back windows. She wrote it on the inside so no matter how many times you washed the outside it wouldn't come off until you cleaned the windows. They put streamers, balloons, and many beer cans behind the General Lee and pushed the cans up under the car so Bo wouldn't see them until he pulled out. Mark asked, "Where are they going tonight?" Luke replied, "Things are a bit tight for them so they are going to their new room at the farm." Mark reached in his pocket pulled out his wallet. "How much is a room at the Dixie Inn?" Cooter smiled, "Let's do it!" reaching for his wallet. Luke said, "I'll go call and make the arragenments. You all keep them occupied," he paused and looked around, "Dixie you're not drinking. You drive and we'll go get the room key to give to them so they can't turn it down! I'll be right back." As Luke went to call the Inn, Daisy and Dixie got out their share of the money for the room. Luke returned, "I called it in. " He reached for his wallet. "It will be eight each." They all gave Luke the money. "Daisy can we take your car? The General's a bit over dressed for this trip?" "Sure." She handed Dixie the keys. Dixie and Luke went to the Road Runner. Dixie looked at Luke, "You know I don't have my license yet." "We won't need a license unless we get stopped." said Luke rather matter of factly. "Besides if you can drive the wrecker like you did the other night I know you can drive this. If we get into a stop I'll slide under the wheel." Dixie opened the driver's door, "Well, Ok. If you say so!" Dixie and Luke were back at the Boar's Nest in no time. It wasn't long before Luke noticed Bo and Beth looking for a way out of all this. Luke went over the the bands mic, "Excuse me. If I know my cousin, our newlyweds are looking for a back door right about now......" Bo gave him an evil look. Luke smiled and continued, "Well, Bo, I know I for one gave you a hard way to go about all this early on. So, for my part to try to make it up to you tonight and several other people wanted to give you two a little something to get you started off on the right foot, Mark over there came up with a good idea since we know money is a little tight." Luke reached in his pocket and took out a key. "We have booked you a room for the night....." Luke walked over the Bo and said only loud enough for Bo to hear, "At the Dixie Inn." Bo was relieved that Luke didn't announce to everyone there where he'd gotten the room because people in Hazzard County can do strange things on wedding nights! Bo smiled. Luke handed him the key and they both hugged. Bo said, "Thanks, cousin and thank the others so we can get out of here." Luke said, "You got it!" Then Luke turned to Beth and said as he hugged her, saying "Welcome to the family." Knowing how close Bo and Luke were, Beth couldn't have been happier knowing Luke accepted and welcomed her into the family. Everyone had several baggies of rice to toss at the couple as they left. The party at the Boars Nest continued several more hours. Cue Beth -

After the wedding, all the guests went to the Boar's Nest for a small reception. NARRATOR: Being Cooter's sister Dixie had many hidden talents, one of which was her photography hobby. It would be her gift to Bo and Beth by filming the wedding and also taking the still wedding pictures. Now, have you all tried to keep a man of any age dressed in a tux for a PICTURE? Those girls had thought of everything and had guts! After the still pictures were taken of all the family members, group pictures, the bride and groom parties. Dixie set up the movie camera, then got her camera ready as Daisy got all the females to get in one group. Dixie stood at the back of the room to catch in pictures Beth's toss of the bouquet. Beth turned her back and tossed the bouquet. She was aiming for Kathy as she and Cooter had dated for quiet sometime, but those danged bouquets have a mind of their own! Dixie followed the bouquet with the camera lense until it went out of sight. Then she felt something hit her as she still searched for the reciever. It took several seconds for her to realize it was her who had caught the bouquet while the other females were tripping over each other to catch it! Now it was Daisy's job to get the guys in one group to catch the garder. NARRATOR: Believe me folkes that wasn't easy to get them guys there in front of a groom with a garder! Now for this shot Dixie got up close to catch in pictures Bo removing the blue garder that Daisy had made and she had embroidered with Bo and Beth's name and wedding date. Bo and Beth both were caught on camera blushing as Bo removered the garder. Dixie eased to the back of the room to catch the reciever on camera as the throw would be caught on film. Now, Bo didn't have an intended receiver he simply turned around and tossed it behind him. Dixie followed the garder with the camera lense. It landed as if planned right in Luke's lap as he talked to Mark McCormick who was a friend of his. NARRATOR: You can all bet that ol' Luke will take a lot of ribbing about this one! Luke insisted as it started, "Anybody who'd believe a fool thing like that would be too superstitious to go out of their own house! Just ask Robin!" (He was refering to Mark's sister his recent ex-girlfriend.) Daisy was elected to take a picture of Luke with the garder and Dixie with the bouquet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As soon as the pictures were FINALLY over Luke and Cooter made a trip out to the car to get their changes of comfortable clothes. While they changed in the men's room Cooter said, "Ok, now there's all kinds of talk going around. What's up with this sudden wedding between those two who are younger than us? I know that Uncle, Mister Jesse and Beth's Mother had to sign for them to get hitched. I am just wondering what the rest of the story is? Cause I know it had to be a heck of a reason and I also noticed that Beth's Father was'missing'?" Luke sighed, ................ Cue Beth -

While the girls were talking last night, they only thought everyone else was asleep. Bo, Luke, Cooter and Jeb had slipped to the barn for a little 'bachelor party' being careful not to let Jesse know about it Jesse just happened to be standing in his bedroom window as the four crossed the yard under the almost full moon. He smiled to himself and thought, 'After all that Bo had been through and all the hard work the fellas put into the two new rooms, I figure if they are in the barn what harm can there be to letting them have a bit of a party.' After all, this would be what Jesse hoped would be Bo's last night as a single man, though he hadn't yet seen his eighteenth birthday party. ~~~~~~~~ Jesse and Luke almost had to 'hog tie' Bo to keep him away from seeing Beth before the girls left for the church. After they had left Luke poured two cups of coffee, handing one to Bo. "Here, get the cobwebs out of your head before we leave." Jesse just raised his eyebrows a bit and 'acting' as if he didn't know what they were talking about. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beth was glad that she had let her Mother know about the wedding. Her Mother meet her at the church against her Father's wishes. The girls had all the decorations in place and began to get dressed. Daisy fixed all their hair. Dixie and Daisy helped Beth's Mother get Beth dressed and her hair done. Beth said, "Thank you all so much for this. It means more to me and Bo than you may ever know." Beth's Mother said, "Just be happy!" Beth replied............. -
At the Courthouse. Jesse had returned from the Davenport farm. He was hoping to speak with his old friend the Judge before the hearing but he hadn't arrived yet. At just this moment, heard by all in the Courthouse, including the State Troopers who had showed up to swear to the complaint, the yellow Road Runner slide into a parking place so loudly that Bo would surely have to replace Daisy's tires when this was over. Seconds later, Bo stormed through the front door! It was all Jesse could do to calm him down enough to keep him from getting either thrown out or locked up. Bo was insisting on talking to Luke. Jesse and Peggy convienced him that Luke may need to see him more after the hearing. By this time, Jeb, Daisy, Coy and Vance showed up in Tilley which they parked out of sight in town. All conversation stopped when Luther, Cooter and an unwilling Dixie walked in. Followed just seconds later by Judge Milton C. Hardcastle taking the bench from a side door. Everyone who knew Judge Hardcastle knew he was taking these cases very seriously. Even though this was only a bond hearing he wore his black robe. Peggy went downstairs, locking the gate behind her. She opened a large metal 'gun cabinet' that hadn't housed guns in it for probably the last hundred years and took out a set of hand cuffs and leg irons. She sighed as she went to unlock Luke's cell, she said, "Luke. Time to go." Seeing the restraints, Luke asked, "You don't need those." Giving him a weak smile, she said, "I know. Rules." She placed the handcuffs on Luke in the front, then instructed him to turn around so she could place the leg irons on him which he did. Wearing the flip flops that he'd been given in place of his boots made it possible for the leg irons to fit. Upon entering the Courtroom with Luke, Peggy was directed to take Luke into the Judge's Chambers and wait outside the door. She did as ordered by the Court. Judge Hardcastle had been called a bit excintrict and true to all of Hazzard he did things his way in his Courtroom. The Judge closed the door behind him as he followed Luke into his private office. "Have a seat." Luke did so though he was more than a bit nervous. The Judge took a casual position at his desk and opened one the files before him. He looked up to see Luke setting stone still with his cuffed hands in his lap. "Relax, son. This conversation isn't on the record. I want to know more about this case than the 'black and white' of this complaint. I know you have been before me on several occassions. I have also been freinds with your Uncle Jesse for many years, though that will not influence me in any way." The Judge thumbed through the file again. "How old are you?" Luke repliled, "Twenty." "Were you drinking?" asked the Judge. "Yes. " said Luke. "On a scale of 1 to 10 how intoxicated were you if 1 is sober and 10 is the drunkest you've ever been?" questioned Judge Hardcastle. Luke thought for a minute. He had drank quiet a bit over a long period of time and had also eaten. He answered, "A three. I might have been over the legal limit when they showed up but I could have driven home." "So it takes something more than a couple drinks to make your thinking unclear?" the Judge asked. Luke nodded, "Yes." The Judge now did something very uncharacterstic for a Judge but it is Hazzard. He reached into his top desk drawer and took something out, then asked, "What were you drinking?" Luke replied, "When the Troopers showed up I had a beer." The Judge opened yet another desk drawer and dug around in it a few minutes before asked Luke, "You wouldn't be opposed to a little Jack Daniels would you?" Luke Looked a bit surprised as the Judge tossed a handcuff key to him. "I don't suppose we need those bracelets for this conversation. Do we?" "No, Sir. I'm not going anywhere until this is straightened out." replied Luke who was beginning to calm down just a bit. "Good. Good. Now, you can take those things off and put them on the table while I pour us a drink. Then, we are going to talk about last night. You will tell me the truth?" He said as he handed Luke a good sized drink. "I"ve never lied to you. If I have done something I'll tell you I did." Luke said looking the older man in the eyes.

The next person to speak up was Jake. "I've heard the stories of you 'running around' with all the girls. When did you know you REALLY loved Dixie? And there aren't any 16 year olds around now either." Luke shook his head. He hadn't had that much moonshine, yet. "Well, when something is being taken away from you, you see what you had. I was really close to my frist serious girlfriend. If she hadn't pushed me into either asking her to marry her or breaking up then most likely I would have in the next couple years asked her to marry me. Especially after Bo and Beth got married. Well, she peeved me off and I ran around for quiet sometime. I'm not real proud of that now but I can say you are the one good thing that came from it. I did learn something from all those girls I missed having someone there. Dixie and I never planned for us to get serious but we did. Then her Father, ........ " Luke paused. Bo was watching to see how much he was going to tell. "made sure the law threw the book at me to keep me away from her. She even left town to get away from everything that happened. After that I soon went in the the Marines because it was the right thing to do for my Country at the time but it was my way of going away too. But you want to know when I knew I loved her. We were talkign behind the barn one morning, our eyes met, the next thing I knew we were kissing. I remember hearing a door slam; it was all I could do to pull myself away before we got caught kissing. It had taken us both by such surprise. I knew that the others wouldn't understand me kissing Cooter's 'little sister'. He--, I didn't understand it myself." Luke looked at Bo, "Do you know even before we came back the first time, this time. I still had sreams about her. I would wake up in the middle of the night and wonder if I'd ever see her again." Bo replied with a smile, "Well, cuz, I'd be willing to bet that if you servive the next few hours you'll not ever have to wonder that again." Luke just grinned, "I sure hope you are right!" Next, Bo, Jr. asked, "So Cooter did you ever have a girl get to you like that?" Cue Beth -

Well, what else would three teenage girls talk about on the eve before one got married. Daisy asked, "Are you nervous?" Beth replied, "I was more nervous about telling everyone about the baby!" she sighed. Dixie asked, rather shyly, "What about the wedding night?" Beth had the good graces to blush, "Well, honey, it's not like we haven't 'practiced' before." she smiled though her face was as red as a beet. They all had a good laugh. Dixie asked, "Hey, you all, what can I do to get a half way look from some of the guys at school this year? I mean I love riding the wrecker with Luke and Cooter but they all treat me like a little BROTHER." Daisy said, "If you want the fish to react different maybe you need to change the bait a little. If that blue dress, those high heels and the hair do I'm planning doesn't turn at least several hers I'll eat my bouquet. Sugar, just which fish are you after?" Dixie just shook her head. "You know, I'd just like to have a different reaction from the guys this year at school. I'm not a dress and pearl person. Mom tried her best to make me one. ....." Daisy said, "Neither am I. I do like to wear a dress occassionally, but I'm more at home in shorts or jeans. But, you can wear shorts and jeans and still dress to impress. We'll help you for awhile if you like, right Beth?" "Sure, after all the help you've all given me. You got it!" she said. Dixie continued the conversation by asking, ................ Cue Beth -

The next morning found the Duke farm a flurry of activity. There were several things needed to be taken care of in town. Luke had volunteered himself and all the others to do the chores that Bo, Beth and Jesse usually did. After the chores were done Luke began to measure and mark off for the expected addition to the house. If everything went OK, hopefully they could get started tomorrow on it. Luke knew Jesse would come up with the money somehow. First, Jesse needed to go to the Courthouse with Bo and Beth to get the marriage license in Hazzard County there is a three day waiting period so the sooner they got the license the better. With Jesse's signature and the note from Beth's Mother getting the paper work done was at least easy! Jesse needed to go see Boss Hogg at the bank while Bo went over to see the doctor about his hand. Beth and Bo went in Doc's small office. Doc was looking in the file cabinet for something when they entered. Doc looked up and asked, "Well, Bo are you about tired of that cast yet?" Bo smiled a bit embarrassed, "I was tired of it five minutes after you put it on." Doc said, "I bet you were! Especially since it was self inflicted?" Bo looked puzzled at Doc. "Be glad Doc - patient privacy is more secreative than Uncle - Nephew privacy is. Now, do you want to tell me what got in to your head and caused you to do this?" asked Doc. Beth was enjoying this just a bit and added Luke's standard line, "Twice." Doc said, "Yeah, that's right. Twice." "Why do I get the feeling I'm out numbered here?" asked Bo. Doc and Beth answered together, "Because you are!" Bo smiled just a bit. He hoped to get this conversation headed a different direction by bringing up something he and Jesse had talked about without Beth knowing they did. "Well, let's just say my temper got the best of me. I think you'll understand a bit better after I ask you something else. ......." Doc waited for Bo to continue. Beth looked at him questioning. "What do we need to do to get Beth here a check up?" he asked. Beth could have hit him. Doc looked at the two, still not catching on to Bo's line of thinking. It was obvious Jesse hadn't told the doctor everything. He pulled her file. "Well, Beth are you needing this check up for softball again this year? All you'll have to do is like ususal just come by with your Mother." Beth said rather embarrassed, "Well, you can give me a physical form for softball too if you like while I'm here." she looked at Bo. She really did enjoy playing softball and since she intended to go to school she may be able to get by playing at some on the early games before she started showing too much, but she'd have to talk that over with Bo. Bo saved her, "Doc, we'd like to get Beth started with the pre-natal visits just as soon as we can. We want to do everything we can to insure our baby will be healthy." The old Doctor took a seat on his desk before continueing. Jesse hadn't told him this. "Well, now Bo, I admire you both for that, but we have us a little problem. You both are underage and without permission from her parents I can't treat her for anything. Ah, that is unless, you were married then you would be consided, for this purpose, adults." Bo's next statement just about made the doctor fall off the desk, "Just set up the appointment for next Monday. Doc, you remember that patient privacy thing you mentioned? Well, other than family you can be the first to know we are getting married Saturday. You can just send her bill to me with the one for the hand. I'm sure that I'll be able to keep you in enough 'supplies' this next year that your supplier will think you retired or something." Doc laughed, "I'd say you'd be right. I want to congratulate you both on the wedding and the little one. It's been sometime since I've gotten to take care a Momma." Doc picked up Bo's file, "With that second injury to this hand I'd say you need to be in the cast another three weeks anyway. Then I expect you to take it easy with it for about a month." Bo sighed a bit disappointedly, "Ok, Doc. Thanks, we'll be back Monday." ~~~~~~~~~ Jesse was waiting in the pickup outside when they came out. Once they were inside the truck Jesse said, "Well, it's nothing much but I want to give you your wedding present from me." He handed Beth and Bo a check made out to them both for a thousand dollars. "Its not much but I think we can build a couple pretty nice rooms for you three and still have a little something to get you all started." Though Bo knew that most of the money would go for the new rooms, this was the most money he'd ever had in his name ever. He tried to find his voice. Money wasn't that big of a deal to Beth though her father had tried to impress the importance of it to her all her life. She knew that this money could have been used by the Dukes for many other things, yet, Jesse hadn't just got it for the new rooms but had given it to Bo and her to start their family with. With tears in her eyes she turned to Uncle Jesse and hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much. This means more to me and Bo than you know." Jesse simply said, "You two just take care of each other." ~~~~~~~~~~~ At Ruebottom's Jesse and Bo explained to Mr. Ruebottom what they would need for the new rooms. Jesse's truck was loaded with treated 2x6's for the frame of the floor, more 2x4's for the walls and roof, plyboard for walls, tar paper and felt for the roof, a spool of wire, assorted nails, assorted fixtures for the wall sockets and lights. While they were taking care of those details, Beth was eyeing some material. Figuring with a couple days to have to wait that it would be cheaper to make a wedding dress than to buy one. She figured to let the guys get there thing done then she could talk with Bo and they could decide what they could afford. She knew Bo had several suits, but she'd like him to rent a tux. They'd just have to see how the money went. Beth knew that Luke would be his best man. Maybe they could rent him a tux to match Bo too. ~~~~~~~~ Jesse and Bo smiled when they pulled into the farm with the overloaded truck seeing the string and stakes were up to mark off the new rooms. Bo thought, 'No matter how mad Luke was at me he still is backing me. Wonder if it's just to get his own room?' Cue Beth -

Just loud enough for Bo to here, "Give me two minutes." she turned to the house. She had already packed what she now knew she was taking with her. Outside it was a LONG two minutes for all the males. Jesse Duke was always one to try to make peace but he was steaming too. Now, just wasn't the time; though, he knew he would try to talk some sense into Mr. Smith sometime in the future. Bo stood straight and tall glaring at Mr. Smith. Luke and Jesse obviously were there to back him should the need arise. Beth was back very quickly. She wore a dress her Mother had made her with a knitted sweater her Grandmother had made for her. She had a small cartoon in her hands with her pictures of her friends, and Mother, her yearbooks, letters from Bo, and a couple stuff animals Bo had given her. Bo met her at the front door taking the box while being careful not to set a foot in Mr. Smith's house. Beth hugged her Mother and said, "Thank you. I love you!" Her Mother knew exactly what she was up to though she wanted to insist she take more of her clothes she figured now wasn't the time. She would just have to take them to her later. As she approached her Father she stood up straight and looked him in the eye and said the most un-ladylike thing any of them had ever heard! "I took MY things. I don't need you, your things, your fancy house....." she held out her hand to him, "or the car!" placing the car keys in his hand. That part hurt. "You can take it all and SHOVE IT!" Luke had seen this might get nasty. He had already taken the box and put it in the General Lee then returned to Bo's side. Bo helped Beth into the General Lee, he got in and started the car. Luke had put his one leg into the car before Jesse ever moved towards pickup. ~~~~~~~~ By the time they returned home the whole house was awake. No one had went back to sleep after Bo's enterance in the wee hours of the night. Daisy was at the stove when Beth entered the kitchen followed by Bo, Luke and Jesse. Daisy went to her friend and hugged her. Beth said with a weak smile, much to Jesse's approval, "Can I room with you? Until after the wedding?" Jesse smiled and thought, 'Yes, she is a good girl.' Daisy reassured her, "You know you can! We have a lot to talk about anyway!" Daisy was referring to wedding plans! Beth said a little embarrassed, "I might have to raid you closet?" Daisy hugged her again, "Sugar, if it fits wear it! It has always been that way around here!" Luke spoke up, "Speaking of which, wheres my solid blue shirt you wore last?" Daisy replied, "Luke it goes over my favorite tube top. It's getting warm, I'm sure it will turn up in your stack soon." she smiled an evil grin. Though wild horses couldn't have stopped Luke from going with Bo. He had been rudely awaken and was a bit grumpy this morning. He poured his first cup of coffee. Jeb being ever the instigator asked, "So when is the wedding?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After they had finished their morning chores Luke and Bo found Jesse setting on the porch. He had a notebook and the advertisement from the hardware store. There was a long list figures on one sheet of paper and Jesse appeared to be drawing something. Jesse notice Luke looking over at the paper curiously. Jesse took a drink of coffee. "You two remember me telling you that we will all get through this ..... but there would be adjustments we would all have to work at." He looked at Bo, "The way I see it, after getting you two hitched the next thing to worry about is this." He handed the papers the boys. "Now, I know you boys have shared that room in there since you have been here, but the facts are we are all just out growing this old house. I intended to go to JD and up the morgage to get supplies to add us two new rooms. We can knock out the window at the end of the hall and add on there." Bo was surprised. He knew things were tight as they were. He felt really guilty to cause his family to have more bills. He said, "Now, Uncle Jesse, ......" Jesse smiled warmly, "Bo, Beth can't stay in the room with you and Luke. It would be wrong to move Luke into the boys room." Jesse paused, and said frankly, "I know you nor Beth want her to continue to share Daisy's room after the wedding. You two will and need your privacy. It will be alright. We'll just have to work hard and get this done as quickly as we can, then we'll have to up production considerable to make the bills. I don't have to tell you that if we up production we increase the chances of getting caught." Bo said, "Uncle Jesse I'm sorry to bring all this on you all like this." Jesse shook his head, "Boy, the time for being sorry is over. Now is the time to dig in and get down to work to provide for your family." Jesse looked at Bo's hand. "When does that come off?" Bo replied, "Not as long as it has been! Ya'll don't let me do a dang fool thing like that again, huh?" Luke said, "Twice!" Bo rolled his eyes at Luke. Jesse just smiled at the two. He loved those boys but sometimes they really made him wonder why! Cue Beth -
Well, My opinion is meant only to compliment some of the writers here who have good ideas that ran along some of mine or just plan struck me as "Yeah, that fits!" So if you recognize something of yours here I'm not trying to take credit. ~~~~~~~~~ This is the way I see it and would LIKE to have seen the new movie be! OH, well, leave it to the money makers!!!! Not the fans!! Luke -- The first show was right on there! Luke had been a paratrooper in the Marines (From what was in the series.) The 1st reunion put him as a Smokejumper which really appeals to the Firefighter in ME! I can see my favorite character doing this job that is an adventure on every call! Maybe he is married to Amy Creevy or a old high school friend (Luke's First Love) Bo--- Again they hit it on the head. Bo going back to the NASCAR circuit! Maybe he married Jill or Diane if you want to go with characters you know -- if not I think Bethie88's "Beth" is just perfect for him. (Danged Fool, Going Home, Going Home Again, and Good ole boy Big Mistake.) Jesse and Boss Hogg -- I'd love to keep them around but there would be no substitute for either. I see them up in Heaven sipping on some of JeESSE'S finest and still watching out for ALL of us! May they rest in peace! Daisy and Enos -- Well the only Hazzardite for her is Enos! I liked Jamanda's idea of them having a whole brood and Enos running for Sheriff when Rosco retires or takes Boss Hoggs place as Commissioner. Cletus --- I see him still as a Deputy. Cooter -- He would have went to Congress to try to sort out the places like Hazzard. He still owns the garage but LB and BB run it. When he's home he can piddle and restore classic cars. As for Bo, Luke, and Daisy's kids -- They have been brought up with the same morals and ideals as their parents. They are all young adluts or will be soon and though Bo, Luke and Daisy may not live in Hazzard anymore their kids live on the farm and annoy Enos and Cletus. They also have taken up the torch by keeping Rosco in line. Like thier parents the family that plays together stays together and they still fight the SYSTEM any SYSTEM!! Under the watchfull eyes of their parents and cousins! THE GENERAL LEE -- Well, Bo and Luke are a bit selfish. He fastest car and their best friend still remains in the family. They make sure he's ran some and that regular maintance is done on him so when they come home for a visit, holiday or special occassion THE DUKE BOYS (regress to a younger age) RIDE AGAIN!! Of course Rosco, Enos and Cletus have to ACT like they hate this but they Love it, Love it, Love IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that they all look great after all theses years!! I too wish I looked like I did TWENTY SIX years ago and know what I know now!! I might have had to "track down that Luke Duke and broaden his horizens!!!" Happy Birthday to Daisy!!! DixieDavenport PS TRIVIA?? Bo's response (to the quote) is??? "track down that _______ and broaden her horizens!!!" And What show did Luke say it and to whom??
-
Beth -- I could handle a race team with Bo, Luke and Cooter on it!! Nascar would have even MORE fans!! I see Kyle Petty finished in the top TWENTY!!! I'd love to see him or Richards cars do something!! Is Jimmie Johnson related to Junior Johnson???? May have to start listening for him since I work most Sundays. I met Junior Johnson in Richmond about about 85. Now there's a crew Chief and a nice guy. DixieDavenport

Why do the boys live with Jesse?
DixieDavenport replied to albeachgirl's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
CHeck out 20 questions with Ben Jones (Cooter) at CMT.com he answered that very question. Though it was never mentioned he said all the parents were together on a plane and it crashed. Learned something after all these years! DixieDavenport -
When Dixie did go back to her room while Jesse and her Dad was talking, she took the telephone with her. She figured how much more trouble could she possibly get into. Daisy answered, "Duke farm." "Dai, .... sy?" Dixie snifffed. She didn't even recognize Dixie's voice. "Yes, it's me?" Bo looked up at her, hearing trouble in her voice. Through her tears and sobs, Dixie said quickly before Luther came back in, "Daisy. Please believe me, I wouldn't have done anything to get Luke into trouble if I'd only known." "Whaoooo, Dixie. What trouble is Luke in?" asked Daisy. She now had Bo's attention and motioned for him to pick up the other phone. "We went parking last night......" Dixie started. Bo said, "You and LUKE went WHERE?" Daisy was pretty surprised herself but she knew Dixie had a crush on Luke but with him seeing every girl in the county never thought he'd go out with Dixie. "Bo please. I don't have much time. Jesse is talking to my father or I'd not have gotten the phone. Yes, we went parking and, ....." she paused, "That's not ALL. It was MY idea, ...... now Luke is in trouble." Bo couldn't help but ask, "Dixie, what trouble is Luke in? I can see your Dad being mad but with you both over 18 then, ....." "BO that's the problem! I'm only SIX-TEEN! I HAD NO IDEA! I guess I'm just stupid. I had no ideaaa, that we were doinggg, anything iilllleeggaallllllllllllll un, ..... tilllll, the Trooooooopers showed upppppp." She said obviously crying. "Trooooooooopers?" Bo got really pale and let himself slide down the wall to set in the floor before he fell down. "Oh, Sh--!" "Oh, Lord." Daisy said, "Dixie it will all be OK. If Jesse's there he'll get it worked out." "NO, it won't beeeeee," she sobbed, "My father is insisting that they 'throw the book' at Luke." Bo finally got his wind back, "Where is LUKE?" She bit her lip and tried to form the words without crying, "In jaaaiiiiilllllll." Bo hung up his phone. "I'm gone!" he was out the door, in the Road Runner, and gone before Daisy could say anything. Dixie's door slammed against the wall as Luther stormed into the room, "WHO are you talking too?" He feared she had called her Mother. He saw something he didn't like seeing when she looked up. She had fear in her eyes. "Daisy." she whispered as she hung up the phone. Luther was hurt, angery and would be embarrassed by all this. Here his only daughter had finally came back to stay with him. How in such a short time could he have let this happen. Luther did not want to explain to his wife this situation. To think he had actually began to trust that Luke Duke. He thought, 'I just let the fox come right on and guard the hen house. Then, they both betray my trust.' Luther thought, 'Da--! He did do a good job with that wrecker. Guess I'll start looking for a replacement.' He could be a very stubborn man. "Let's go." he said to his young daughter who now looked even younger to him than she had yesturday. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Daisy looked at the phone as it went dead. "JEB! Coy! Vance! Guys! Come on!" she yelled. She got the boys together and they all took off for town. She promised to explain what was going on while they drove.

Luther Davenport wasn't a bit surprised to see the white pickup coming down the driveway. He stepped out on the porch. He was dressed to go into town. Jesse walked onto the porch. "Luther our families go way back." he began. Luther nodded, "Jesse, I know that. I don't want hard feelings between us, ..... but there's going to be. They both betrayed my trust......" Jesse interupted, "Luther there doesn't have to be." The porch door opened and Dixie stepped on to the porch. It was obvious she had been crying. Jesse reached out to comfort her as Luther scolded, "I told you to get in your room and not to come out until we go to town! Now GO!" She gave Jesse a pleading look before she bolted for her room. Jesse watched her go. "What is done is done. What is the point of all this?" asked Jesse in a quiet calming voice. "MY 16 year old daughter has now got the reputation of a WHORE. HE's done this to one too many girls Jesse. I'm going to see to it that I do everything in my power to have the book thrown at him." Luther's voice was raising. Jesse calmly said, "I've talked to Luke this morning. He would like to do what he can to fix the situation." "Jesse there is no going back here. He can't fix it!" said Luther. "Luke knows what you and most everyone else is going to think. He told me that Dixie wasn't just another girl. He said he loves her." Jesse sees steam coming out of Luther's ears and his face is turning red. "Hear me out ........ He'd like to marry her." "There is no way that him marrying her would change my mind!" Luther exclaimed. "And him marrying her to get out of this mess would never work. Then she'd never be happy." Jesse tried to explain further, "Luke knows that even if you allow her to marry him that you may not change your mind about the charges. He's not saying that to get out of trouble. How happy do you think she'd be knowing you sent him to prison?" "She'll get over it and maybe in time she'll find someone to have her with her 'reputation'!" Luther insisted. "Oh, for Pete's sake, Luther she isn't the first 16 year old to ever, ....." Jesse was interupted. "Maybe NOT, but she is my only daughter and I'll not just let this go. Now, if you'll excuse me I've got to be getting to the Courthouse to talk to the Troopers and Judge." said Luther. Before Jesse turned to go he said, "Luther, please don't do this to my boy. It won't change anything." Luther walked into the house without saying a word
-
Mark began, "I went out last evening and bought a half gallon of liquor after taking my, ..... " he almost spit the word, " 'GIRLFRIEND' to work. I talked to Luke then went home and got plastered. Dad woke me up this morning. I was and still am pretty drunk. When I came downstairs there were two Troopers at the house wanting to know where I was last night. It was my luck no one had been home when I got back home. My Firebird was identified. Jesse I haven't driven it in days. I was in Dad's pickup last night. They had search warrants to search the car and house. They started with the car. They found a ski mask I've never seen before, then opened the glove box. Inside was a .357 Magnum of Dad's and several checks from the Dixie Inn. They charged me with Armed Robbery. I didn't do it." Jesse asked, "Do you have any ideas who could have done it?" Mark nodded, "Do you remember Sharon Jones? We've dated for awhile. I've known she runs with a tough bunch over there where she lives. The guys have tried to convience me to dump her. I guess I should have listened when she got into trouble about six months ago. He-- she just got back from a Women's Correctional Facility for Sh-- like this." Luke looked surprised. "Yeah, I kept my mouth shut. I guess I figured maybe it was a bunch of sh-- like goes on here sometimes." said Mark a bit embarrassed he'd not talked to his friend. Jesse asked, "But the car and the gun?" Mark shook his head and gave a sick smile, "Easy. She knew I kept and extra car key in the bumper. As for the gun, I had to think on that too, but it came to me about an hour ago. That Magnum was kept on top of the refrigerator insight. She has been with me when I have forgotten my house key, ... the extra key is on the porch light. The last time I drove the car was to take her out to the Dixie Inn and talk FOR HER BENEFIT so she'd get the job. The thanks I get is she not just used MY car and Dad's gun but made DA-- sure she left plenty of evidence that I did it. Isn't that SWEET?" Mark was raising his voice. "Jesse you know his parents wouldn't even get him out for racing or fighting......" said Luke. Jesse held up his hand to silence Luke. "I'll do what I can for you both. Luke if they upgrade your charges, .... they are both serious charges. I just don't know if I can help you both." Jesse looked at his watch. "I need to go see if I can talk to Luther though." Luke nodded, "Remember what I said?" Jesse nodded 'yes', "I will. Luke hang in there. I love you." Luke tried to assure Jesse, "I'm fine. I love you too." Jesse knew Luke was not anywhere near fine as he drove over to the Davenport farm.

Has anyone been to "cooters place" yet?
DixieDavenport replied to T-Man's topic in Ben Jones / Cooter Davenport
I went to the Duke Fest 2003 at Cooter's Place in Sperryville, VA Dixie
