Meant to post this earlier when I finished it. Had to combine two kits to make it. Plenty of scratchbuilding in this one, including seat detailing, CB radio and antenna, rear view mirror, sun visors and of course the steer horns.
Very intense build; here is a link to the in-progress photos: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/142988-boss-hogg-70-cadillac-deville-convertible/
And now, on to the photos....
LOL Probably both boys, but she let 'em off the hook more easily since this time they didn't ruin a wax job by driving it off a cliff
Seriously though, thank you for the kind words as always! And thanks for all you do in here
Thank you! Not sure how long exactly, but several long months for sure. Wish I'd been starting with one good-conditioned kit instead of a junker with some spare parts added, I wouldn't have had half as many setbacks.
This is the other project I started around the same time as Daisy's Jeep. It's Swamp Molly's 1946 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup. The same truck also appeared (slightly more distressed) a few episodes later in 'Deputy Dukes'. I could continue adding rust and primer well into the new year, but I've decided to call it finished . I still love muscle cars, but I've started to really like these curvy pickups from the '40s and '50s. I'm thinking of doing a restored version of this one, so watch this space .
The parts have arrived, and the painting's done. Here's my restored version of Swamp Molly's pickup. I decided to go for a bright red finish with whitewall tires and a wooden enclosure around the bed. I also took a bit of artistic license by assuming that it originally belonged to Rhuebottom's. These old trucks clean up pretty well .
