Because I'm still close to the UK, I'm usually identified as English, and that's fine with me (although I didn't celebrate St George's Day on Thursday!). My nationality is British, and that's probably how I'd be known further from home where people aren't so familiar with the differences between the Home Nations.

Hoss, do you prefer to be called British or English?

Doesn't really matter what time to me. Thank you for all you do MM. As a low tech person I have no idea how much time you have put into this labor of love since 1999 but I am sure it is an unimaginable number of hours. It is appreciated and you are loved.

Garrett is definitely a heavy hitter here on the HN....been here longer than me.

I am sorry you missed the pro bike race. Glad you missed the rain though.
-
Thank you Roger and Hobie! You made my day . They'll be racing at Talladega this weekend. Sadly I'll be out so I won't watch it, but I'll be rooting on #9 as always!

British English often comes with subtext and inferred meanings whereas American English tends to be more direct. Here's a video by an American who's been living in the UK for a while. In it, she describes some of the phrases that initially confused her.

I'd say midweek would be best as it's a bit quieter. I'm between five and eight hours ahead of most of the people on here, so I'll leave it up to someone else to recommend at time. I hope this update doesn't mess up internal links and embedded videos like when you shifted from vBulletin.

The current version of the forum software will no longer be supported by the end of the year. I'm planning on upgrading to the next version before then. I'd like all your input on when the best day of the week/time I should do it and do you think a) the sooner the better or b) wait until later ? Looks like it will overall be a better experience and it looks like they have a mobile app too.

I'm still really big into pro dirt bikes. Saturday they raced in Cleveland Browns stadium. That's the closest they'll get to me this year but I didn't go. It rained all day so I'm kinda glad I didn't go.
-
And that's a fact!
-
That's fine. I'm happy with anything. It wouldn't be NASCAR without you.

Thanks Garrett. 🤗

What I'm Doing Right Now!
Hobie Hartkins replied to Hobie Hartkins's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Right now, I'm drinking my final 2 beers ( I'll be getting more later this week.....tomorrow???....) and watching The Red Sox and the Yankees....Go Red Sox! This beer was sitting outside the box, in the refrigerator, for app. 24 hrs. and is ice cold! What is better than ice cold beer? The only sad thing is, I don't have 3-4 to get ....um ....slightly inebriated ( ? ) Oh well....maybe if I drink them fast......( ? ) -
I am sorry to hear that Skipper. Sorry for your loss.
-
You are welcome. I am sorry it isn't more detailed.
-
Sadly no I need to get back into that. Last time I tried watching it, it kept going in and out and I turned it off. I should try again...
-
Thanks Garrett. Always good to see you posting about NASCAR.

This is easy for me to remember because my Dad was born on April 14 and I was born on April 15. Also, Abraham Lincoln was shot on April 14 and died after midnight on April 15. My love and condolences to you and your family Skipper.

Prayers needed for my family again. This time, my dad's sister, my Aunt Alice died on February 6, 2026.
