Meadowmufn got a reaction from Spike in Dating advice
My parents were married 67 years, just a few months shy of 68 years when dad passed. They got married at 19 (mom) and 21 (dad). I've been married almost 23 years. My oldest sister celebrates anniversary #32 this year and my other sister will celebrate #26 later this year. So, my advice would be to find someone who's been married a long time and get advice from them! Because whatever my mom and dad were doing right, it seemed to rub off on us kids.
My mom always told me that the key to a long marriage was.... 2 tv sets. And for the record, all of us kids have more than 1 tv set.

my advice.....DON'T DO IT!!! It's like smoking....don't even start!! Studies have shown that dating leads to marriage and that marriage, in this country, is the leading cause of divorce! ( Don't believe me?? Think on this!.....100% of the people you know that are divorced, at one time, were married! It's the 2nd biggest mistake I ever made in my life!

Meadowmufn got a reaction from RogerDuke in Howdy y’all
Dad instilled a love of cars in me. He used to take me to cruisin' 50's night in high school and when I was little we went to the Harrah's Auto Museum in Sparks, NV on vacation. That was a treat. Dad had dementia for his last years, but my brother and I managed to get him to the Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance and the Petersen Automotive Museum a few years ago. We had a blast, made some great memories, and took lots of photos.

Sonny is a little less than a year older than my dad.

Nedra Volz would be the oldest and Sorrell would not be 100. I know this without looking because I regularly schedule social media posts about cast birthdays.

It's kind of amusing. Whenever dad would talk about our Irish roots, he'd mention County Cork. Turns out that his ancestors living in County Cork were mostly Scottish. 🤣

I just went through Donegal today. It's a place along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Probably named after your ancestors home.

Meadowmufn got a reaction from RogerDuke in Advice please y’all.
I love the "idea" of having a classic car. After seeing what my brother went through in high school with his '63 T-Bird, I enjoy seeing other peoples' classic cars.
That's not meant in any way to discourage, just to make it clear it's a pretty big commitment in time, money, blood, sweat, and tears.

Meadowmufn got a reaction from Tom Duke in Problem with PMs - No Recruiting Allowed
I'm pretty sure I can guess why you wanted to PM after not being very active on HNet for a while. I can also see that others who haven't been active here in a while have logged in. I'm sure they're here for the same reason, so I've moderated their accounts as well.
In case you were not aware, using another person's forums to recruit members to other forums is bad etiquette. The point of this forum is discussion of the topic, not recruiting for your own interests. If you're not going to join in the discussion and are only here for recruiting, please leave. If someone is found to be recruiting for other sites, they will be banned.
HazzardNet members, if you've been sent a recruiting PM, please let me know.

Meadowmufn got a reaction from Tom Duke in New Forums Tips & Tricks
This topic will include instructions on how to get around in the new forums. A lot of the functionality will remain the same, but there are some changes. Also, for those of you who have been exploring and would like to share what you've found, please chime in.
Creating New Topics & Content
There's a menu at the top right of the forum that says "+ Create". From there, you can select "Topic". Select the forum you want to put your topic in. A window will open up with an editor. Type in your message, add any files (with the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files" or "Insert other media" options at the bottom of the editor. You can also add other content like a personal status update or upload a gallery image. Replying to Posts
At the bottom of every topic, there is a box to reply to a thread. Simply click in the box and an editor will open up. Click "Submit Reply" to post it. To quote, click on the Quote link at the bottom of the post you want to reply to. The quote will show up in the Reply box at the bottom of the page. You can also click the "+" button on multiple posts to multi-quote. View New Posts
In the menu bar, hover over "Latest Posts & Activity" and click on "New Posts". There is also an option under "Latest Posts & Activity" called "My Activity Streams". At the bottom of that is a button that says "Create New Stream" where you can configure exactly the type of posts you want to see in that stream. PMs
In the upper right of the forum, there is an icon that looks like an envelope. Click on that and you can see a list of your latest PMs (which you can click on to read), a button to compose a new message, or a link (at the bottom) to go to your inbox. PM functionality remains largely the same as before, but if you'd like me to elaborate on it for this guide, please let me know. To be continued...
