RogerDuke
And in This Corner, Luke Duke....season 3 After watching Luke lift a heavy mirror in the Boar's Nest, the manager of boxer Catfish Lee, winner of 33 consecutive fights, stirs up trouble and Catfish causes Luke to break the $3000 mirror. Luke, a USMC boxing champion, gets thrown in jail and Boss and Catfish's manager plan to get Luke and Catfish box in public. Luke doesn't want to but changes his mind since they would lose the farm if he doesn't. He almost changes his mind again when he knocks out Cooter in a sparing match. Two other bad guys kidnap Luke just before the fight because Boss would have to give up the $7000 fight money if Luke doesn't show up but Rosco and Jesse rescue him and get him there on time. Luke loses the first 3 rounds but KOs Catfish in round 4 after Jesse's inspirational talk. While the fight was going on the other 2 bad guys steal the 7 grand out of Boss's trunk but Bo and Luke catch all 4 bad guys when the General jumps through an old barn and collapses it on top of them. -- It would have been funny to call Luke The Redneck Rocky in the posters. -- Cletus actually made a pretty good referee despite getting the rights that are read when getting arrested with the pre fight rules. --Daisy also did a good job with the National Anthem. -- Didn't we look this up before and find out that Catfish (Sonny Shields) was really a pro boxer? When Bo said he'd fight him Luke said Catfish would drop him like a dirty shirt yet Bo looked pretty evenly matched with Luke in the Carnival of Thrills fight. Sonny Shields was a pro boxer. If you watch the DukesVision commentary, John says, "That guy could've tied one arm behind his back and beat the c**p out of all of us." Hobie Hartkins
I thought it was funny when Boss was trying to stall the fight and told the crooks, when Daisy was singing the anthem for the second time, " Don't you know you're not supposed to interrupt " Oh say can you see"? RogerDuke
The Late JD Hogg....season 3 Boss forecloses on the Duke farm after Rosco and Cletus make them late with the mortgage payment. Jesse accidently breaks the glass on the bank door so all 3 Duke men end up in jail. Right after that Doc Ronald Carney tells Boss he only has 2 weeks to live. Boss starts to worry that he might not make it to Heaven so he starts doing all kind of good deeds including letting the Dukes out and mailing off a bunch of charitable letters, documents and donations. Doc Carney finds out the person who is terminal is actually named Boggs from Hamiltonville and Boss is fine. Waylon says "That ain't gonna matter 'cause when Boss realizes what he's given away, that'll kill him". Carney can't get ahold of Boss so he keeps the charity drive going. In the meantime 2 bad guys steal the postal truck for the Social Security checks. The truck also has Boss's letters in it. When the Dukes tell Boss he's going to live at first he's happy but then sad. Bo and Luke catch the bad guys and Jesse was nice enough to tell Boss he'd still make mortgage payments anyways even though the mail went through anyways and he wouldn't have to since Boss was deeding the farm to him. -- Flash dislike Boss so much that he even barks when he hears his voice on the CB -- There are 3 episodes in a row that feature Boss, this one, Uncle Boss next and then Baa Baa White Sheep Hobie Hartkins
Hobie Hartkins
One line I like in this episode is when Boss and Jesse are taking off on Boss' spending spree and Boss says, " I'm gonna live 'til I die!" That was a good line!
RogerDuke
Uncle Boss....season 3 After Rosco fails to catch the Duke boys Boss summons his nephew Hughie Hogg to get them in trouble and take the farm. He comes into Hazzard in his white VW bug dressed exactly like Boss. Hughie's first 2 schemes fail but the third does better. Daisy gets framed for having moonshine in her trunk and gets thrown in jail. Hughie knew that her cousins would break her out of jail to attend a wedding she was looking forward to her so he secretly filmed Bo busting her out. He showed the film to Boss and Rosco and it made Rosco look lazy so Rosco teamed up with the Dukes to stop Boss and Hughie from taking the tape to the State Police in Capitol City. Knowing that a strong magnetic field would erase the video tape, Luke got the idea of going to the junkyard. After coralling the VW in the right spot Cooter picked it up with the giant magnet and then let them go. Boss and Hughie were embarrassed when they showed the fuzzy video to State Police in Capitol City and Boss sent Hughie packing. -- Cooter mentions Conyers in this one. -- I think this is the third time we've seen the General crossing the creek that it went across when Cooter jacked it up. -- Enos is in this episide and he's supposed to be in California and Daisy's yellow car is back too....episodes out of order. RogerDuke
Baa Baa White Sheep....season 3 Boss's Great Aunt Emma Lou Hogg just died last week and the reading of the will is getting ready to take place. Boss is worried because he had his identical twin brother, Abraham Lincoln Hogg declared legally dead 5 years ago. Boss illegally unsealed the will early and found out Emma left half of her 100 acres to Abe. In the meantime, Bo was away for a weekend with the USMC Reserves and Luke helped a guy fix his little car and the guy, a forger named Benny the Quill, gave Luke a check for 50 dollars that was no good and got Luke thrown in jail. Abe shows up and even Rosco thinks he's Boss, despite the black suit and black Cadillac convertible. The first person Abe visits is Jesse. Abe is generous, honest, religious and charitable, just the opposite of Boss, so he is Jesse's friend. Boss let Luke out of jail to bring Benny back because he needed the signature of Abe forged to get his half of the estate. When Luke and Daisy brought him back, Abe showed up for a reunion with Boss. Later, Abe heads to Finchburg but the trip was a set up to get Abe arrested so he couldn't make it to the reading of the will. Daisy and Luke rescue Abe and make a dramatic entrance back to Hazzard when the General's brakes go out and it flies through the air and crashes through the wall into the will reading, exposing the fact that Boss, who had been switching black and white clothes to trick Judge Drewton, was running a scam....with a little help from Flash who loved Abe and hated Boss. Of course Abe ended up donating his half to charity and Boss and Rosco spent a night in the Finchburg jail. --We get a glimpse of Abe's driver's license which shows us that he and Boss are 5'5" tall, 200 lbs and were born on April 6, 1926 --When Luke and Daisy pick up Flash we get a look at Rosco and Mama's house. --Daisy ends up in quicksand....a bit scarey --I liked that Bo was in the USMC Reserves because I was at the time too....Bo's hair wasn't short enough though. Spike
This is actually one of the episodes my wife likes watching. Usually I hear a big sigh when I put a Dukes episode in but not this one, she gets a kick out of this one. IIRC from an interview John Schneider was either sick or injured and that's why he wasn't in this episode. Hobie Hartkins

RogerDuke
Mrs Rosco P Coltrane....season 3 After 3 weeks of secretly dating, Rosco's girlfriend Sue Ann Bliss shows up in his office wanting to get married even though Rosco wants to wait 6 months. She gets her way and the wedding planning begins. Earlier 2 bad guys accidently crashed into the General and flipped it upside down. They are seen later talking to Sue Ann so clearly something is fishy. When Boss realizes the wedding will happen the same day a $100,000 miner's payroll will be in Hazzard, he calls two guys to steal it, which is also what Sue Ann and her accomplices were planning since the money will be vulnerable when everyone will be at the wedding. Luke gets suspicious after finding a connection between Sue Ann and her accomplices and those suspicions get confirmed after seeing them talking and discovering a wanted poster. During the wedding Boss's bad guys get a flat tire so Sue Ann's guys end up with the money and later stuff Rosco in his trunk on the way to his honeymoon. Bo and Luke rescue him and give him the bad news and catch Sue Ann and the other 2. -- This is the only appearance of Rosco's Mama and she also says "knee knee" LOL and treats her 48 year old son like a kid. She threatened to jump out a high window if he got married. 48 just isn't old enough. -- Rosco was spelled Roscoe on his office door but the e was gone minutes later -- It was a bit creepy when Boss met Sue Ann and starting touching and flirting...good thing Lulu stopped it. -- great line by Mama " You mean you got a girl out of a machine?" RogerDuke
The Great Santa Claus Chase....season 3 Bo and Luke are hauling Christmas trees into Hazzard with a big orange truck (of course it's orange) when they get hijacked and tied up along the road. A bad guy dressed as a preacher helps them but later sets them up to make it look like they stole the trees and pocketed the $500 from selling them...... but Boss was behind the scheme and had 2 other bad guys paint the truck. The preacher sees Boss's safe and conspires with the other 2 guys to steal from it. The townsfolk slowly start to suspect that Bo and Luke might be guilty. Boss starts selling the trees in the freshly painted truck but the boys, after getting bailed out, see a ribbon Luke tied on one of them and realize they are the same trees and truck. The Dukes almost get Boss to change his mind when they run a Dicken's Christmas Carol shuck and jive on the CB when Boss is half asleep for his 4:30 nap but Cooter breaks in and ruins the plan. Bo, Luke and Cooter dress up like Santa Clauses and steal the truck back and start delivering the trees while the 3 bad guys dress up like Santas too and lock up Jesse and Daisy and steal the money from Boss's safe. They all meet up in a near 7 vehicle and 6 Santa collision at Indian Road and Bear Hollow Junction where everything gets sorted out and the 3 bad guys get arrested. In the final scene, the 4 Dukes, Rosco, Cooter, Cletus and Flash are celebrating Christmas Eve at the Duke farm when Boss comes to visit, carrying an armload of presents after being reformed by reading Little Jimmie Dickson's Christmas Carol. After hearing bells Jesse asked the boys if they put them on Maudeen. Of course we know who it really was. --The final scene is the one I love the most in the whole series. What I wouldn't give to have been there. I love Christmas. --Sitting alone in the Boar's Nest Boss after reading A Christmas Carol Waylon said "And with Lulu away, 'ol Boss was as lonely as 'ol Waylon at the Country Music Association Awards"...LOL...It was no secret that the CMA thought Waylon was too much of an outlaw at the time to get awards. Times sure have changed. He's an icon now. Edited June 13, 2020 by RogerDuke Hobie Hartkins
RogerDuke
Good Neighbors, Duke....season 3 Josiah Benson and his daughter move into the old Gaylord farm in Hazzard. They are in the witness protection program after he testified against a mob Boss. To protect his identity Josiah is now known as Adam Venable and his daughter, Ester. Boss had been planning on buying that farm to build Hogg Heights Condominiums and was mad the Venable's got it. Two bad guys had been spying on the Venables after suspecting Adam was really Josiah and they put a bug in their living room and found out they were right. 2 million dollars in uncut diamonds of ransom was lost by the mob boss and the bad guys thought Josiah (Adam) had them but he didn't. The Duke boys found out about Josiah's past after checking old newspapers. When the Venables decided to leave town they left a briefcase of family pictures and heirlooms with the Dukes for safekeeping but when Daisy had it the bad guys went after her, thinking the diamonds were in it. Thanks to the boys Daisy got away. While this was going on Boss and Rosco were searching for uranium that the bad guys tricked them into thinking was in Hazzard. Eventually the Venables, with the help on the Dukes faked their death in a car explosion off a cliff so the bad guys would stop bothering them and Rosco and Boss struck much needed water on the Venable farm in their uranium search. --Hoyt Axton sings his cop in a little bitty town song in the end. --The episode starts out with Bo and Luke singing the song from Hee Haw...'where oh where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched....." --When Boss explained a geiger counter to Rosco he asked Boss "How many geigers we gonna have to count?" Boss said to Rosco, after mentioning uranium "if your cranium had a brainium" -- Condominiums? In another episode they were Hoggominiums as I recall.
