Chet Duke
Hey people! I thought it would be fun to post the lyrics of your favoorite song here. Or maybe its not your favorite song, maybe its the song that has a sentimental value or maybe it strongely represents who your are. Anything... anything at all. Please share the lyrics. One of my all time favorites is a song that to me means alot because its taught me never to underestimate what you may think is impossible.Artist/Band: Nichols JoeLyrics for Song: The ImpossibleMy dad chased monsters from the darkHe checked underneath my bedAn he could lift me with one armWay up over top of his headHe could loosen rusty boltsWith a quick turn of his wristHe pulled splinters from his handAnd never even flinchedIn thirteen years I'd never seen him cryBut the day that grandpa died,I realizedUnsinkable ships sinkUnbreakable walls breakSometimes the things you think could never happenHappens just like thatUnbendable steel bendsIf the fury of the wind is unstoppableI've learned to never underestimateThe impossibleAnd then there was my junior yearBilly had a brand new carIt was late, the road was wetI guess the curves was just too sharpI walked away without a scratchThey brought the helicopter inAnd Billy couldn't feel his legsSaid he'd never walk againBut Billy said he would and his mom and daddy prayedAnd the day we graduated,he stood up to say:Unsinkable ships sinkUnbreakable walls breakSometimes the things you think could never happenHappens just like thatUnbendable steel bendsIf the fury of the wind is unstoppableI've learned to never underestimateThe impossibleSo don't tell me that it's overDon't give up on you and me'Cos there's no such thing as hopelessIf you believe:Unsinkable ships sinkUnbreakable walls breakSometimes the things you think could never happenHappens just like thatUnbendable steel bendsIf the fury of the wind is unstoppableI've learned to never underestimateThe impossible

bethie88
Another good one... not exactly country, but not bad, either!Artist: Green DayAlbum: NimrodTitle: Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)Another turning point, a fork stuck in the roadTime grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to goSo make the best of this test, and don't ask whyIt's not a question, but a lesson learned in timeIt's something unpredictable, but in the end is rightI hope you had the time of your lifeSo take the photographs, and still frames in your mindHang it on a shelf in good health and good timeTattoos of memories and dead skin on trialFor what it´s worth, it was worth all the whileIt´s something unpredictable, but in the end is rightI hope you had the time of your life. It´s something unpredictable, but in the end is rightI hope you had the time of your life. It´s something unpredictable, but in the end is rightI hope you had the time of your life

Capt_Redneck
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above. And be a simple kind of man. Be something you love and understand. Be a simple kind of man. Won't you do this for me son, If you can?Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul, And you can do this if you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied.Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself. Follow you heart and nothing else. And you can do this if you try. All I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied.

bethie88
Awesome song, there, Darrell! How about this one?FREEBIRD(allen collins - ronnie vanzant)If i leave here tomorrowWould you still remember me?For i must be travelling on, now,'cause there's too many places i've got to see. But, if i stayed here with you, girl,Things just couldn't be the same.'cause i'm as free as a bird now,And this bird you can not change.Lord knows, i can't change.Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.Though this feeling i can't change. But please don't take it badly,'cause lord knows i'm to blame. But, if i stayed here with you girl,Things just couldn't be the same.Cause i'm as free as a bird now,And this bird you'll never change. And this bird you can not change.Lord knows, i can't change.Lord help me, i can't change. Heres another one of my favorites.Artist/Band: Black ClintLyrics for Song: DesperadoLyrics for Album: The Greatest HitsDesperadoWhy don't you come to your sensesBen out ridin' fences, for so long nowOh, you're a hard one But I know that you got your reasonsThese things that are pleasin' you Can hurt you somehowDon't you draw the queen of diamonds boyShe'll beat you if she's ableYou know the queen of hearts is always your best betBut it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your tableBut you only want the ones you can't getDesperado Oh, you ain't gettin' no youngerYour pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you homeAnd freedom, oh freedom, well that's just some people talkin'Your prison is walkin' through this world all aloneDon't your feet get cold in the wintertimeThe sky won't snow and the sun won't shineIt's hard to tell the nighttime from the dayAnd you're losin' all your highs and lowsAin't it funny how the feelin' goes awayDesperadoWhy don't you come to your sensesCome down from those fences, open the gateIt may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above youYou better let somebody love you, let somebody love youYou better let somebody love youBefore it's too late
Jamanda
One of our favorites is actually a parady of a famous country song.Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Youth MinistersBy Tim Jones(Youth Minister and Comedian)Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be youth ministersDon't let em strum guitars or drive old church vansLet em be preachers or teach in JapanMamas don't let your babies grow up to be youth ministersPeople will wonder when he'll be full grownWhen he'll get a church of his own.Youth guys are experts at frisbee, Nintendo and putt puttHe'll have to explain why it rained and the van windows weren't shutHis desk is piled high with squirt guns, stale fries, and old yo-yos but no extra moneyAnd nobody thought that that joke about snot in his sermon was all that funny.Mamas don't let your babies think of working with youth groupsAt camp he'll wrestle with kids on the floor,Who sneak out of their bunks, when he starts to snore.Mamas don't let your babies go into youth workKids'll tp his car and when they act bizzareIn public he'll look like a jerkHis research consists of malls, VH1 and comic booksHe won't get much use out of all of those long Greek classes he took. The new kids are rowdy they cuss but only around his grouchiest criticsAnd that waterballoon that he jokingly threw left a welt that needed a medicMamas you may think this lifestyle for your babies is strange very strangeBut you can be proud when you're home in the cloudsTo see how many lives he has changed. Dixie Lee_01
This is one of my favorites at the moment... It's actually in a way very related to my coming back to Dukes now... so it means a lot._________Your Heart Will Lead You HomeSunny days and starry nightsAnd lazy afternoonsYou're countin' castles in the cloudsAnd hummin' little tunesBut somehow right before your eyesThe summer fades awayEverything is differentEverything has changed If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you homeFunny how a photographCan take you back in timeTo places and embracesThat you thought you'd left behindThey're tryin' to remind youThat you're not the only oneThat no one is an islandWhen all is said and done If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you home There'll come a day When you're losin' your way And you don't know where you belong They say that home is where the heart is So follow your heart And know that you can't go wrong If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you... If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you Where you belong I know your heart will lead you Home________________The day I rediscovered Hazzard and thereby a part of myself I really needed at the time, I actually created a songvid, sort of, using this song, a few sound clips, and a lot of still pictures. I don't have it online anyplace, but I'd love to share it if anyone would like... Just my own loving tribute to Hazzard and its people. goodolboy85
I have too many favorites to name all of them, but one song that I always thought to be very true and moving and about something that I'd like to experience is Alan Jackson's 'Living On Love':Two young people without a thing, say some vows and spread their wingsSettle down with just what they need, livin on loveShe don't care, bout what's in style, she just likes the way he smilesIt takes more than marble & tile, livin on loveLivin on love, buyin on time, without somebody nothin ain't worth a dimeJust like an old-fashioned storybook rhyme, livin on loveIt sounds simple, thats what your thinkin, but love can walk through fire without blinkin, it doesn't take much, when you get enough, livin on loveAlan Jackson is probably my all-time favorite artist. I love all his stuff. 'Don't Rock The Jukebox' That's another good one! Before ya drop that quarter, keep one thing in mindYou got a heartbroke hillbilly, standin here in lineI've been down and lonely, ever since she leftBefore ya punch that number, could I make one request?Don't rock the jukebox, I wanna hear some JonesCause my heart ain't ready, for the Rolling StonesI don't feel like rockin, since my baby's goneSo don't rock the jukebox, play me a country song! Opossumonagumbush
Favorite song? 'Come a little Closer' by Dierks BentleyCome a little closer babyI feel like layin’ you downan a bed of sweet surrender where we can work it all outthere ain't nothin that love can't fixgirl it's right here at our finger tipsso come a little closer baby I feel like layin’ you downsome a little closer babyI feel like lettin goof everything that stand between usand the love we used to knowI wanna touch you like a crimson robeand let it wash all you hurt awayso come a little closer babyI feel like lettin’ goif there's still a chance than take my hand and we'll steal awayoff into the nightuntil we make things rightthe sun's gonna rise, on a better daycome a little closer baby I feel like strippin’ it downback to the basics of you and me and what makes the world go round every inch of you across my skinI wanna be stronger than we've ever beenso come a little closer baby I feel like strippin’ it downcome a little closer babyjust a little bit closer babycome a little closer babyI feel like layin’ you downBut we all know that this is one of the greatest songs ever written:'What was I thinkin'?' by Dierks Bentley. And we all know the reason why it rocks! (See huge yellow font below)Well, Becky was a beauty from south Alabama. Her Daddy had a heart like a nine pound hammer.Think he even did a little time in the slammer. What was I thinkin'?She snuck out one night an' met me by the front gate,Her Daddy came out a-wavin' that 12-guageWe tore out the drive, he peppered my tailgate. What was I thinkin'?Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay.But that crossed my mind a little too late.'Cause I was thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top,Sittin' right there in the middle by me.An' I was thinkin' 'bout a long kiss,Man, just gotta get goin', where the night might lead.I know what I was feelin',But what was I thinkin'?What was I thinkin'? By the County line, the cops were nippin' on our heels,Pulled off the road an' kicked it in four-wheel.Shut off the lights an' tore through a cornfield. What was I thinkin'?At the other side, she was hollerin': "Faster."Took a dirt road, had the radio blastin'.Hit the honky-tonk for a little close dancin'.What was I thinkin'?Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay.But that crossed my mind a little too late.'Cause I was thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top,Sittin' right there in the middle by me.An' I was thinkin' 'bout a long kiss,Man, just gotta get goin', where the night might lead.I know what I was feelin',But what was I thinkin'?What was I thinkin'? When a mountain of a man with a "Born To Kill" tattoo,Tried to cut in, I knocked out his front tooth. We ran outside, hood slidin' like Bo Duke. What was I thinkin'?I finally got her home at a half past two, later.Daddy's in a long chair sittin' on the driveway,Put it in park as he started my way. What was I thinkin'?Oh, what was I thinkin'?Oh, what was I thinkin'?Then she gave a "Come an' get me grin."An' like a bullet, we were gone again.'Cause I was thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top,Sittin' right there in the middle by me.An' I was thinkin' 'bout a long kiss,Man, just gotta get goin' where the night might lead.I know what I was feelin',But what was I thinkin'?What was I thinkin'?I know what I was feelin', but what was I thinkin'?----------------------------I mean, how could anyone not love a song that mentions Bo?
