Danica Crashes!

Featured Replies

:previous:

Danica was driving an Indy car in  the Indy 500 yesterday. Although Indy and Formula 1 cars are both open-wheeled, that's about as far as the silmilarities go. It was IndyCar where Danica originally made her name, before she switched to NASCAR. I don't follow IndyCar, but the commentators mentioned that the cars had lower downforce than previously at this year's race, and most of the crashes were cars spinning while following in the "dirty" air of other cars.

Danica raced Indycar before racing NASCAR where she won an Indy oval race in Japan the day before ChampCar had their last race.

I heard it explained here as that the hot weather together with the weather from last night/day severely reduced the grip on IMS. There were a lot of people just losing it while driving without doing anything stupid which I've not seen in previous years.

I heard IndyCars do not have brakes fitted when doing oval races, do they use engine braking to get into the pits?
