Have you folks taken the Yanni-Laurel challenge? I heard Laurel and my wife heard Yanni. That explains why every time she says "get some work done around the house" I hear "watch another Dukes episode"

I could only hear Laurel. I'm obviously not as Hardy as I thought I was!

You know something is more then a little viral if its on our national radio and this forum. 

I don't here any of the two, I hear 'Gary' or 'Jerry'. I guess its closest to Yanni.

I haven't bothered to read up on the subject, but they were discussing it on the radio earlier. Apparently, the "Laurel" sound is at a lower frequency and the "Yanni" is at a higher frequency. Older people tend to hear "Laurel", although if you listen to the clip for a long time, some people who originally heard "Laurel" start to hear "Yanni".

Good point. If Mr Low Tech knew about it then it must be big. It looks like it will fade away as quickly as it came. I wonder if they can do the same thing with any other two words. I'd better stop spending time with this nonsense and start focusing on what I'm wearing for the Royal Wedding.

I guess you have a while to wait before Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange gets married (she's only 14) .

I hear Laurel. My husband and his mom both hear Yanny, though hubby says it sounds like Yammy. I have some hearing loss from working around server racks, so that would explain why I can't hear the higher pitched Yanny.

I wonder if there are other words that they can do this with that would divide the masses. 

Probably, I think there have been before. I think there was one during a hearing test you had to do at school here back in the day. They asked you what you heard of just a single word.
