RogerDuke
Now that I'm retired I have time to do some of the things I always wanted to do. In 2021 I'm going to accept the job as the starting right fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, like my childhood hero, Roberto Clemente. I'm going to structure my contract so that I have Sundays off so I can drive NASCAR just like the Dukes hero, Cale Yarborough. This is why I wanted to get all my episode reviews done now. Spring training will be here before you know it and I'll be pretty busy after that. I guess I'll be seeing Santino on the track. Spike
Well Roger you can live out your Nascar fantasy by playing the original Nascar Heat, just go to The Mod Squad (link in my sig) and the guys there will help you get set up. They have Nascar mods from the 1960's - now, and the best part it's all Free. We're used to seeing flames from engine fires (as happened to Perez yesterday), but it's a long time since a crash has ended in a fireball. Grosjean looked comfortable in hospital after the race, and is said to have only suffered minor burns. The "halo" safety device above the driver's head probably saved his life. It looks like Michael Schumacher's son Mick may be driving for the Haas F1 team next year. RogerDuke

Mick Schumacher's multi-year contract with Haas F1 was confirmed today. This could be a big weekend for British driver George Russell who gets to stand in for Lewis Hamilton for Sunday's race. Hamilton tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week, so has to self-isolate. Russell is currently driving one of the slowest cars on the grid and is one of the only drivers not to score a point this year, so it'll be some change stepping into the World Champion's car. HossC
They'll be another familiar surname on the F1 grid this weekend. Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, will be driving Romain Grosjean's Haas while Romain continues to recover from last week's crash. It's been a good weekend so far for George Russell in Lewis' Mercedes. He was fastest in the first two practice sessions, and qualified second for the race, just 0.026 seconds behind his new team mate Valtteri Bottas. HossC
What a roller-coaster race for George Russell. He started second, but took the lead by the first corner and kept it for most of the race. Then a safety car triggered a rushed pit stop where Mercedes put a mixed set of tires on his car, some of which should have gone on his team mate's car. He made a second stop to fix the problem, and was making his way back to the front when he got a puncture when he was just over two seconds off the lead. He again fought his way up the field, but with so few laps left, he could only manage ninth place. Nevertheless, he scored two points for the place and a bonus for the fastest lap, which are his first F1 points. Ironically, the incident that caused the safety car was a spin by Jack Aitken, who was driving George Russell's regular race car. Still, I think he proved himself today, and hopefully it won't be long before he's in a more competitive car. BTW. George wasn't penalized for the tire error, but the team were fined €20,000. HossC
This should be the final F1 hijack of the year . Last night, Lewis Hamilton won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. It's presented annually to the sportsperson judged to have achieved the most that year. The winner is chosen by the public from a shortlist. "The recipient must either be British or reside and play a significant amount of their sport in the United Kingdom." It's Lewis' second win, with his first back in 2014. HossC
Well, I kept to my word about F1 hijacks in 2020, and waited until 2021! To add to all of his other achievements, Lewis Hamilton received a knighthood in the New Year Honours List. He follows in the footsteps of other F1 drivers Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart. RogerDuke

Spike
Well let's hope they use the oval next year as that was a yawner of a race except on the last lap where Chase Elliot tried a bump n run on Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch passed them both for the win. I found it hilarious that they called a caution for dirt on the track though they might have called it because Denny Hamlin was driving away from the rest of them. He had the best car but pit stops kept putting him back in the field. RogerDuke
