HossC Posted Sunday at 09:22 PM Posted Sunday at 09:22 PM Congratulations to the England women's football (soccer) team, AKA. The Lionesses, who won the Euros final earlier tonight. Victory came in a dramatic penalty shoot-out when the match ended 1-1 after extra time. This means that they retain the title which they first won in 2022. They beat Spain who won the World Cup against them in 2023. Over the past few years, the English team (men's and women's) have adopted Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline' as an unofficial anthem, so I'll post this to celebrate. RogerDuke 1 Quote
HossC Posted Sunday at 10:11 PM Author Posted Sunday at 10:11 PM Games only go to penalties in knockout tournaments, so here's how tonight's shoot-out went: ETA. The original video I posted got blocked overnight, so here's a less good video filmed from behind the goal. Garrett Duke and RogerDuke 1 1 Quote

I hope they enjoyed the matches, especially as their side won. A good friend of mine in a big Manchester United fan, and they had a terrible home season this past year. I don't really have a team, but their opponents are from close to where I was born, so I'd probably have been cheering for them last night. These were the men's teams. I think that three of Manchester United's women's team were in the Euro winning side that I originally posted about. They had a much better 24/25 season than the men. Quote
