Who's y'all's favorite DOH character?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to Kristy_DUke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Very true, LS3. It's really hard for me to pick a "favorite" because they all go together... can't really have any of them rightly without the others in there somewhere. I love different things about each one of them, especially the Dukes, Rosco, amd Enos (and Flash, I love that dog! <smile>). -
This *is* supposed to be a G-rated board, *please* control your mouth. <frown> And bama, truth is I'm not "*****ing" about anything. I'm stating my thoughts reasonably and calmly... or so I think I am, anyway. I mean to. I'm just having a discussion. *Most* of us are having a discussion. You're the only one trying to rile it into a fight.

Quiz site--Which Dukes character are you?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to inga's topic in General Discussion
I'm Luke... thing is, it fits me. <smile> "You are Luke Duke. You are sensible and charming. You rarely get to drive, but you are okay with that. You are hard-working and honest." I'm also the quieter leader/protector of my siblings... especially when with my sister who's *notably* like Bo. <chuckle> -
Why do the boys live with Jesse?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to albeachgirl's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Believe me, working a farm *is* a full-time job. Just cause you don't have another employer and a weekly paycheck doesn't make it not a valid profession of its own. People don't tend to realize that, it seems. They call the boys "unemployed", but they're perfectly employed... just self-employed, so to speak - or Jesse-employed. Lol. -
<smile> Ethan, thank you for the compliments but I think you're slightly confused... We aren't actors, or involved with the show or its actors (well, most of us aren't, lol). We're just fans, like you. But feel free to show up in chat most any evening and someone will be around eventually. We all like to talk about Dukes!
-
Exactly... just because something was originally planned to be one way, that doesn't mean that was the best way! As any writer can tell you, edits and changes to plot, characters, etc only turn out for the better when you're creating a story! The way Daisy and the General ended up is better than the original ideas, just like - as Divia pointed out - Han Solo as a human rather than alien ended up working better. I mean, Han as an alien would have done away with the whole Han-and-Leia romantic subplot. The flag on the hood of the car would just look... unbalanced, drawing too much attention forward rather than centered, which really wouldn't have made such a graceful image flying. Even if the car was physically weighted right, visually it would have looked wrong. And Daisy as a scatterbrained blonde (not that all blondes are), or looking more Hollywood in any way, would kind of have not allowed her whole normal, realistic, sweet-girl-next-door character to grow. Daisy just wouldn't be the girl we love.
-
Exactly. In the fictional KR world, Kitt - who is not actually a TransAm with a normal engine but rather has something more like a jet engine; only looks like a T/A! - can outrun pretty much anything else on the ground. No matter how much you love the General Lee, even a 440 or hemi under the hood ain't gonna compare with a vehicle that's more a fighter-plane on wheels; Kitt's takeoff/slowdown speed required a special safety restraint system in fact! However, in the real world a Charger could most definitely outrace, outjump, etc any real T/A around - pretty much without effort. Which makes the General really neat cause he's realistic. You could really build a General Lee and run him just like the Dukes. Kitt isn't possible except in fantasy. Because of the aforementioned differences between types of vehicles here... isn't this argument, as classic as it is, just a little bit moot? I mean, it's kind of like trying to compare an F-16 to an X-wing or Viper fighter! They're completely different creatures from completely different worlds! But they're both some the best of their own kind.

Ya mean the opening song the boys did for the first movie? Or something else?
-
My favs (in some sort of order, which sometimes varies slightly): 1. Dukes Of Hazzard (of course) 2. MacGyver 3. Knight Rider 4. A-Team 5. Scarecrow and Mrs King 6. Murder She Wrote 7. Starsky and Hutch 8. Airwolf Nothing particularly recent, ya notice... lol
-
Yeah, that's where it all is. Lol. Sorry; somehow I thought you were talking about thinking my stuff was on two different sites. I don't *think* so... heh.
-
What other site... lol. The website I have linked on my forum profile I probably shouldn't even *have* linked here; there's no Dukes stuff on it! Or fiction/stories at all for that matter... Plenty of fictional history/culture/language stuff though... My Dukes fic is all on dohff.net, with the exception of a couple that I have no idea where they are anymore. Thanks for the compliments though!

Through the Hazzard grapevine, the information has finally trickled down to me.... lol. The song is apparently from 1997, on the album "Sevens". Not that *I* know much of what that is... heh. But there ya go.

Bo Duke...What Do YOU Think He Was Like?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to Bo_Duke_luva's topic in John Schneider / Bo Duke
They made a good team, as well as being a whole lot of fun to watch, just *because* there was that dichotomy between them. The serious one and the joker, the mature one and the teenager, the cautious one and the impetuous personality. So different, and yet so very fond of each other, both with their special qualities. They both need each other, really; you can't rightly take one without the other. Luke watches over Bo and tries to keep him out of trouble, and Bo is always there to brighten up Luke's day. <smile> -
Yeah, I love Daisy's personality. <smile> She's smart, sweet, and knows how to have a sense of humor... You don't see that combination much.
-
I have no clue what album, LS3... I found the song online some time ago. However, if you want, I could email it to you. BTW... are you who I think you are? <delighted smile if you are> Dixie Lee / Sarah

The very first time I heard this song by Garth Brooks, and every time since, I can't think of *anyone* who it belongs to better than Luke and Bo. You 'n I, we're buddies And we've been since we first met And me 'n you, well we've sure been through Our share of laughter and regret Lord knows we've had our bad days And more than once we've disagreed But you've always been A friend to me You can be so stubborn There's times I think you just like to fight I hope and pray I'll live to see the day When you'd say I might be right And there's times I'd rather kill you Than listen to your honesty But you've always been A friend to me You've always been Time and again The one to take my hand Showing me It's okay to be Just the way I am With no apology Oh, you've always been And you will till God knows when Yes, you've always been A friend to me

It's not the original cast I'm wantin' so badly, it's the right *feel* for the film and a desire to keep it family-rated. If other actors can manage that... okay. They still won't quite be our Dukes that we love, but okay. I just want them to do it right!
-
Gee... thanks... <quiet smile> It was done for Jesse, and those like him, with a lot of thought and a whole lot of love. I'm very glad that came through. I'm very glad you could relate. Thanks. Dixie Lee / Sarah S.

Happy Birthday, Daisy
Dixie Lee_01 replied to Divia's topic in Story Ideas/Fics In Progress/Collaborative Efforts
Very nice, Divia... more please? <smile> -
Oh yikes, BradB, I can't remember *all* the details anymore right now - I recorded it (and many others) from TNN but that tape's at home, states away! But generally, there's two plots intertwined - one is about a talent show / party / etc night at the Boar's Nest in which Rosco is very excited about performing as a magician (the Dukes sing too; nice), and the other plot is some bad guys come to Hazzard to get revenge on Boss for something or other. During the show, Rosco uses Boss as a volunteer to go into his disappearing box, and Boss escapes the party by using a hidden trapdoor Rosco didn't know about. When he doesn't reappear, Rosco's really upset cause he thinks *he* made Boss disappear forever, and spends most of the rest of the episode trying to figure out how to get his buddy back. Meanwhile the bad guys have got Boss, and the Dukes, Cooter, and Enos have to figure out what happened to him before he gets murdered. It's a little bit dramatic, a little bit funny - more of the humor is with Bo and others rather than Rosco this time around though - and very touching. Good family moments, and the Rosco-and-Boss friendship too. One of the best episodes IMO.

General Fan, the reason there are only 2 seasons out now and the third one coming in May is that they only started being released at *all* on DVD a few months ago (yay!) and they're being released one season at a time. We all just have to be patient... though I'd like to have the later ones too...
-
Seven <smile> Seven seasons, from fall 1978 to spring 1985, I believe. And yeah Garrett, it was a nice high note to end on. Not an *ending* episode really, but a sometimes-happy, sometimes-funny, small bit dramatic, and emotional one, one that just implies life goes on in Hazzard... which is good. <smile>
-
Yeah... we've had some long discussions on that topic. Just run a search on the forum for Confederate flag if you want to see us sometimes rant and sometimes historically and philosophically dissect... lol <chuckle> Anyway, welcome!

Have you ever met someone who is famous?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to Eddiemunster's topic in General Discussion
Well, my *roommate*'s met a number of people, but the ones she talks about are Steven Curtis Chapman and Cece Winans. She actually worked with them on a local film here in Tulsa... But me... only one that I know of, John Schneider. He used to live a few miles from where I do, and I saw him in town a few times - and saw his General a couple times too! That was *really* neat... Maybe I should name that car as a second "famous person", lol. There's a sense about it, certainly. Tell me, have you ever heard a Dixie horn in real life? There's a pitch quality to it that the TV audio just doesn't catch... <smiling to myself, eyes distant in memory> Almost high, and resonating... that song just *rings* across our narrow valley, echoes almost. I think that was my favorite "famous" encounter of all even though it was the most distant - watching the General run free and fast up the highway half a mile away and hearing him whistle Dixie. -
Could there be a new DOH series?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to Divia's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
That'd be a little... scary.
