Great article!

I found two stories on my hard drive last night that I don't have a clue who they belong to - I know not me. I probably have them from beta-reading them a long time ago, but I haven't been able to find them online now. One is unfinished, and I'd really like a find a finished version, named "Deputy Dipstick". The other is complete, called "Fair Warning". I have no idea anymore who they came from. Neither one has any new characters, just the original Dukes and friends, so I can't use that to track the author(s) down. If anyone knows who wrote these, or has seen them online, please tell me. They're both great little stories, and I'd hate to think of them not existing anymore besides as beta versions on my hard drive.

Racing used to be about how well you could build or modify a car - body or engine. The better mechanics as well as drivers contributed to a win. Now there are a lot more rules to try to not allow anyone an edge, to make all the cars alike. I'm not sure that, personally, that makes a race as interesting or fun to watch *or* participate in. I'm not sure that the rules are exactly fair to the teams or drivers. It's wrong to cheat, but at the same time it seems wrong to me to penalize those who built the car for simply coming up with a better design. It wasn't like that in dirt racing. Messing with another person's car was wrong, but building a good one of your own was to be admired. I think NASCAR probably used to be similar in that respect, from glimpses like the turbocharger Cale Yarborough built in the Dukes season 2. I'm not sure that'd be allowed anymore. Just my feelings, right or wrong. I don't claim to be *any* sort of expert on NASCAR.

As for later seasons - yeah, bring 'em on *please*. <smile> Seasons 6 and 7 have many of my most favorite episodes - creative and more family-dramatic - and even 5 really does have some great Rosco/Boss/Jesse/deputies stuff. Some of my other favorites from the later seasons (some were already mentioned): Brotherly Love Undercover Dukes the one where they make the haunted house (can't remember the name) A Boy's Best Friend Opening Night At The Boar's Nest

Jessi, I think Kitty meant a pic like the ones you see with the boys having their arms around each other's shoulders that you find on the Net - or see a lot of in the show. But by the way, on that topic... the boys *did* hold each other sometimes when one was upset, or sleep close together in the car or a jail cell, and etc. I think you're falling "prey" to the assumption that is far too rampant nowadays of physical closeness having to be sexual or wrong in nature. The Duke family did *not* seem to buy into that idea (neither does mine for that matter), and none of the kids - Luke, Daisy, or Bo - are afraid to touch Jesse or each other because they're *family*, much more like siblings than cousins. They all depend on each other emotionally as well as as a working team. I think that kind of family trust and intimacy is a beautiful thing, myself. Back to pics - I think that a buddy pic would be kinda nice actually... though I am partial to, for covers, pictures with at least the three cousins if not other characters too. Just two people, though a nice pic, I'm not sure would make as good a DVD cover. It should at least be the boys and the General.

Heh, yes - Rosco would win that one hands-down!
-
That would be nice.

Kitt in the ficticious world was faster than any other car ever - 300+ mph - because his engine and entire system was completely different than a normal car's. I think it was related more to the turbine of a jet. Like was said previously though, for *realistic* cars the General's the best I know.

lol, it worked on us back in the 90's too, to make us do our homework.

<whoop, yell> Hey, that was *great*! I've seen this kind of thing done for other shows/movies before, but never Dukes... likely cause it wasn't on DVD before. It's *high* time someone celebrated our show this way! I myself made a "vid" just a couple weeks ago, but I was only able to use still pics cause I don't have a computer DVD player, and I don't have anyplace online to put it. This was great! I can join the crowd in hollering, "more!" <grin, going off to watch it again>

What's your favorite season?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to travelerF150's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I'm not sure of my favorite... honestly. There's good and bad moments in all the seasons. I do kinda like the last two though... there were some stupid plots, but there were also some really good stories that dug more into the characters. -
I would not say all slaves were happy, on the contrary. However, I also would not say all were *un(happy or mistreated. I think it depended largely on the conduct and character of the whites around them. With that said, I am *not* for slavery (in case people surmise otherwise). *However*, slavery is not truly the topic here. That's the whole point about the flag - some very loud and important people have made that the issue when it wasn't. I think the comments posted here so far about this are very good. If only we could go re-educate everyone around us, eh?

<laugh> Great, great Jamanda!

This is one of my favorites at the moment... It's actually in a way very related to my coming back to Dukes now... so it means a lot. _________ Your Heart Will Lead You Home Sunny days and starry nights And lazy afternoons You're countin' castles in the clouds And hummin' little tunes But somehow right before your eyes The summer fades away Everything is different Everything has changed If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you home Funny how a photograph Can take you back in time To places and embraces That you thought you'd left behind They're tryin' to remind you That you're not the only one That no one is an island When all is said and done If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you home There'll come a day When you're losin' your way And you don't know where you belong They say that home is where the heart is So follow your heart And know that you can't go wrong If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you... If you feel lost and on your own And far from home You're never alone, you know Just think of your friends The ones who care They all will be waitin' there With love to share And your heart will lead you Where you belong I know your heart will lead you Home ________________ The day I rediscovered Hazzard and thereby a part of myself I really needed at the time, I actually created a songvid, sort of, using this song, a few sound clips, and a lot of still pictures. I don't have it online anyplace, but I'd love to share it if anyone would like... Just my own loving tribute to Hazzard and its people.

That's a good one Jamanda...

I found it online a couple years back, mp3s of the songs, and recreated the CD for myself. I'd have bought it except there's apparently not many places to find such an old album anymore. It's a lot of fun! My favorite songs are "General Lee", "In the Driver's Seat" (most fav at the moment), and "Down-Home American Girl", but they're all pretty good. My favorite I just mentioned is so... Dukes! Lol. So much of their personality there, and it sure don't hurt that John and Tom (he's harmony in the background; listen) are singing it.

I *really* hope they'll put out all 7 seasons! I'd be pretty upset if they didn't! There were some great stories in seasons 6 and 7 (not all, but there were some favorites!). I'd buy season 5 too, myself. I suppose I don't hate Coy and Vance as much seeing as I actually first got introduced to Hazzard with them. When season 6 came along, I was like "who *are* these "new" guys!" <chuckle> Of course, quickly I learned how special Lukas and Bo are. But still... I'd take all 7 seasons.
-
I've stayed out of thsi one so far (my opinions on the new movie kinda follow Cooter's if ya know what I mean), but I did go look up a name that was mentioned a while back - Kate Beckingsale - and I *do* have to say she'd make a very beautiful Daisy. She looks a bit like Catherine did back then, maybe a little younger. The only concern I might have is that her bio I found spoke of her as being originally from London. If she had an English accent that could be a problem. Speaking of appearance, I think they could have found better guys for the boys too... My $0.02.

Why wont The Dukes of Hazzard ever be forgotten?
Dixie Lee_01 replied to back's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Brian... I think you said it. I think we're all mostly in love with Hazzard for its people and its sense of home. -
Vicki! You live near Tulsa? I'm *in* Tulsa right now, at college at ORU... dang, be neat if we could meet up somewhen, eh? Even if we don't really know each other... heh. <looking around "suspiciously"> I think almost everyone who knows I like Dukes around here thinks I'm nuts, so I can't help but be slightly excited at the thought of a fellow Hazzardite somewhere nearby.

I was just wondering when/if chats were scheduled, seeing as there's a chatroom here at HazzardNet.

You know you watch too much Dukes of Hazzard when...

Her name was Lavinia. -
Actually, 68%. Not that one percent makes a lot of difference.
-
I showed up 67% Dixie. Guess I've grown up in California too long... but hey, I picked up some of the South I love!

My sister and I used to go in and out the windows of my Dad's little Chevy Metro. Harder cause it's a small car and small window, but I'm small enough too to manage it.
